Non-brony/distaste for Ponies, why stay?

man dude man

Recommended Posts

I am just as willing as the next guy to attempt to make friends with anyone that seems interested in doing so brony or non brony alike. However it doesn't make much sense at all to me, that non bronies, would find their time spent useful on a forum site about MLP. Like, I get it, you don't know why the show is so great, but what I don't get is why you are trying to troll about it? I mean the majority of the logical bronies around here don't mind that you don't like it? Like are you just trying to start an open debate? I feel like you are your biggest victim if you don't like ponies and you are subjecting yourself to them at multiple points through out the day, deciding to spend your time on a forum site about MLP?

As Scootalove said, they want attention. Ignoring them the best thing to do, unless you want to get pulled, which won't be good for you.

I also get confused as to why certain people self-identify themselves as not being a Brony, but still partake in pretty much everything that is considered part of the Brony fandom. Regularly browsing forums such as this, for instance. To me it just sounds more like a cry for attention, and the desire to be different.

I guess my take on it is just that I don't really understand what exactly it is they are trying to do lol. Like I understand the pathetic desperation of the anti brony troll, but infiltrate trolling really is the largest indication to one that your troll has already made himself the overrall loser. Like I am here acknowledging my artistic tastes, and the troll is here doing what exactly? Trying to make people upset that like the show because they don't like it themselves, like they dislike it so much they went out of their way to make an account on here and to stick around and stalk peoples conversations about it lmao? Like what a real winner lol?

Not really. I don't call myself a brony because I don't think the show is that good. I just like interacting with the community.

At least you still like the community. I've seen people that hate us, hate the show, and hate just about anything to do with us yet still stick around the forum just to bitch and moan about how everything has gone to shit and poop.

Exactly!

Though you forgot the part were they state the most vague and subtle responses as to why they are a brony but not a brony.

Schrödinger's bronyness? I've noticed these people as well and they somehow manage to exist in a state of being a brony, yet not being a brony at the same time. I can get the people that just watch the show and read the comics without really taking part in the community, but the people that do all of that and seem to be bronies in all but name really perplexes me.

Which sort of rids the point of removing the label, the perplexity of it is what really arouses attention and I swear they do it just for that.

I'm a non-Brony, but I have respect for the show and the people. I love the design here, I love animation in general, and I really enjoy talking to the people here.

That's pretty much how I feel, no one that's going to make snap judgements at people just being a brony is going to care if you accept the title or not.

Exactly, except other people of course. Bronies are now becoming too mainstream for any outsider to think of you otherwise.

Label or no label, for some people the title is not a self procclaimed thing, as I myself will bear the title, but it doesn't matter to me if it hovers above my head or not, I am someone that loves My Little Pony, regardless if i'm called brony or not. So in my title thats why i put / distaste for ponies, because I would think those people wouldn't enjoy their stay here as much as those of us who love them do.

  • 2 weeks later...

Though I used to watch the show and be a brony I am no longer one due to the fact that I just got bored of it but I still stay on the forum to talk to people since the other forum I visit doesn't have such a wide variety of areas to talk in. Simply because I'm not a brony anymore doesn't make me a troll or some form of self loathing forum veiwer, no I just visit the forum and talk to people that is all, nothing more, nothing less.

The scientists and engineers currently conducting research at the Large Hadron Collider just recently discovered a new type of subatomic particle. Two years ago, after decades of work and theory, they discovered the Higgs Boson. In less than a century we have progressed from slow, noisy, unsafe vehicles and abacuses to expertly designed and high-safety rated automobiles and computers capable of tremendous calculating power. We have mastered flight, we have reached the moon, we have been to the deepest possible spot on the ocean floor. Not too long ago, one of our first space probes left the confines of our solar system. Every day, more technological and scientific barriers are falling to the mutual onslaught of dedicated work by the legions of brilliant minds on every continent of our great planet.

And yet, we still haven't developed a practical, inexpensive way to deliver violent electrical shocks via the internet to people like this.

To "people like" what? The status isnt demanding anypony leave? It's asking what makes them want to stay here, as it would seem that you wouldn't have as good of a time on a forum about My Little Pony as people that love My Little Pony?

Gee I'm insenstive when I say I am willing to be friends with anypony and you are talking about giving people violent electric shocks over the internet for asking a question, needs to be a morality check I do believe.

My apologies. I meant people like the people who care nothing about a topic, yet join message boards dedicated to that topic just to troll.

Yeah, I find the people whose every comment seems to be "I used to like FiM, but not anymore, and I'm going to keep posting about it" kinda weird. But hey, whatevs.

Oh I thought you were talking about me, I mean, I still don't want anypony to get shocked with violent electricity via internet, but I would surely love to know why trolls lurk.

They have nothing better to do because they have no life. They're like little children asking why over and over. They don't really want an answer. They just want to keep it going for as long as possible. At some point though, we have to say something like this to our children.

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

Please bear in mind that the Debate Pit is intended for non-pony topics. Thank you! :)

If they're just here to complain about the show and the fandom, and cry about everything wrong with us, the they are probably just trolls. However, as some people above said some of them stick around because the like the community even if they don't care about the show. I can't blame them, I've never seen a forum this friendly. Sure, it has it's problems, but it's leaps and bounds above every other online community I've been a part of.

^This. While this place may have it's own issues it's still the best damn forum I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of one of the few places I feel comfortable having serious discussions.
