Rarishy Fan Club, The Paragon of Beauty

Let me preface this with an image of our ideal.

 

 

With the recent slew of shipping fan clubs, I have decided to dedicate my own time to the upkeep and cultivation of what I consider one of the most subtly interesting potential ships in the show, the lovely mares Rarity and Fluttershy.

 

Why is this a ship of such quality, you may ask? Well lets take a look at the contenders.

 

Rarity and Fluttershy are both arguably the most feminine of the Mane Six as a whole, and it's been implied in canon that they are the most broadly attractive of the Mane Six as well. Of note here is that Fluttershy most likely naturally draws Rarity's eye assuming the implications hold true, one with an aesthetic sense as cultivated as Rarity's would naturally be drawn towards things of exceptional beauty. So one can almost imagine a sort of appreciation on Rarity's part of Fluttershy's natural good looks, and of course this is excellent fodder for letting a ship sail. The artist and her muse.

 

Now, let us look briefly at their personalities. Fluttershy, as we all know, is highly shy. It's in her freakin' name. What I argue that Fluttershy would benefit from in a relationship is a sort of figurehead that knows how to wear the pants (that don't exist in Equestria, but I digress) in the relationship while not being overtly aggressive and in Fluttershy's face. The mare herself asked for a light touch in helping her to socially blossom and overcome her fears.

 

Rarity is a driven and aggressive mare who knows how to get what she wants. But at the precise same time, she is one of the stronger empaths in the group, well tuned into what is socially acceptable and what is not. We never see Rarity crossing a line when she isn't in a panicked state, because she's one of the mares who knows how to edit her behavior based on context. So I believe it's Rarity who has the best chance of properly handling Fluttershy, for the simple fact that she has the drive to control the relationship and push Fluttershy to be a better mare- at the appropriate times. Rarity will know when to back off and simply appreciate what they have, it's in her training as a mare of culture.

 

So here we have a couple who can freely become parts of one another without losing themselves as individuals in the process. The shy mare as the artistic font of another, who in turn cultivates her delicate social butterfly so it may one day soar. Separate, yet one and the same.

 

I hope those who have read my points have at least a greater appreciation for the dynamic of the ship, even if they are not convinced. For those who are, I only have this to say:

Sparity for me is a strictly one sided thing. There is no way Rarity could reciprocate in a romantic manner without being creepy. Therefore, Rarishy 4 lyfe.

Admittedly, this is one of my favorite ships by Rarity.

 

The friendship and accustom ways they have with each other makes me dawed and amazed at how well they mix with each other despite the slight differences.

Yes, they really do mesh together in a way that makes them seem natural together but leaves room for intrigue, don't they!?

 

It essentially perfectly captures the aesthetic of an ideal relationship for me.

Eee I LOVE Rarishy <3 Though I'm biased...my gf identifies with Rarity, and I as Fluttershy so...but even before that, I always shipped them. Your reasons are so eloquent and perfect and exactly why they would work so well together.
