So.

I doubt many of you know me, as I am just a pleb who joined about a month or so ago.

But I have something to say about this fandom that I wish to put out there in response to that thread that I will post here in the interest of keeping whatever sanctity it had intact and staying on the mod's good sides.

 

So.

This fandom.

 

Does it have it's quirks? Yeah.

Are the people eccentric? No.doubt.

Can it get a bit weird? What fandom doesn't.

Do I give a superfluous flying f*ck? lol not even a little bit.

 

This fandom is the kindest, most varied, most welcoming anything I've ever had the pleasure of being a part if.

It's gonna take nothing short of a mass murdering in the name of Celestia to get me to question the fandom. Not the clopping. Not the cosplayers. Not this supposed religion I've heard about(but somehow, can't get any sort of proof about, so I have to assume its been pried freshly out of someone's a$$).

 

Because, in the long run, it's the internet.

We're all a bit mad here. And it's time for you to wake up and smell the equine if it bothers you so much (generally speaking,of course).

I assume you're talking about the *ahem* one recent topic? I agree, and I think it's best to move away from it and not let it get to you.

Honestly, I don't understand when people say that. To me this fandom is exactly the same as any other. The fandom doesn't make the people; people make the fandom. Sof it's full of everything you find outside... Nice people, jerks, people who think too highly of themselves, people that that don't give themselves enough credit, smart people, idiots...

For me it's nothing special. I get involved in enough stuff to know that this fandom has it's own ins and outs like every other.

 

But honestly? I'm happy that it positively inspires some people in such a way. Everyone needs their muse in life, and if MLP is it for some, so be it.

 

Also... @@Dattebayo, why do you include cosplayers on your list of things that make the fandom weird? :wacko:

I may not like them much in general (cosplayers), but it's far from a valid reason to hate a group.

Spose, but I've dabbled in other fandoms who are filled with elitist pricks and mean-spirited snobs.

I've had no such luck here, but I can't speakfor eeveryone.

I honestly am a bit afraid that I may be the one to blame for that... I didn't hear anything about a pony religion until a few weeks ago when I found a news article comparing fandoms to religions and submitted it to EQD and made a discussion thread on here about it.  The discussion on this forum got a bit silly and we joked about our pony-religion... after that I saw a few people making actual claims about there being a pony religion.  Granted it may go back much further than that thread and I'm just out of the loop but I'd hate to think I'm to blame xD

 

But to address your general point about the fandom being the nicest one there is, I have to agree :D  I've said this a bunch of times on threads and I'll say it again... I was in a small fandom prior to this one and was involved to the point that I have a closet full of collectibles and was the admin of the largest forum for that fandom on the internet.  But I was so disgusted with the people in it, I had to get out, and the pony fandom has been like heaven compared to it.  Sure it has it's issues, but this community does so many fantastic things that I can't help but love it.

 

 

 

Also... @Dattebayo, why do you include cosplayers on your list of things that make the fandom weird?
To outsiders I can see that being on the weird-thing list... I mean you don't exactly see people in horse fur-suits on a day to day basis.  But I think most people in this fandom understand that being a cosplayer doesn't mean you go dressed as Twilight every time you go to the mall.

Depends on where you draw the line between muder and execution and what authority would legitimize execution. Hail Celestia.

 

I honestly am a bit afraid that I may be the one to blame for that... I can think of three, off the top of my head.

In the fandom, as a general group.

And I haven't been here long enough to see such.activity, but yeah, I can name one guy in particular now. Props to that guy. x)
