So after mentioning that there should be an SJW thread I might as well make one.

Long story short if you don't know what these guys are, they are basically a fairly recent wave of internet crazies that basically whine a lot on the internet while not doing shit to actually help their cause. Oftentimes they are actually just as toxic as the people they are against, such as hating trans men for "Defecting to the patriarchy" and insisting that men cannot be raped because they are all sex loving apes.

This could potentially go in the debate pit but eh I think general discussion is better.

I get where some of them are coming from, but they go about it in such a silly way. Essentially TSJWs at the minute:

• I hate cis people
• I hate men

In case people need an example of what these people are like, I direct you to this Tumblr. It's cringe worthy stuff, I assure you(it is a joke thankfully, but there are those that actually think like this.)

 

Anyway, I can't stand these people. They claim to want a world free of hate, but then they hate on anyone who is white, heterosexual, male, or trans. Because according to them, trans women "aren't real women" and trans men are "submitting to the patriarchy," therefore making both the spawns of Satan. And if you're a heterosexual white dude, no matter what you do, you're evil and deserve to die for not controlling the circumstances of your birth. But they still think that they're good people, regardless of how awful they are to certain others for how they were born. It almost makes me sick knowing that these people exist.

Also the whole "BRONIES STOLE FROM GRILLS" thing is fucking bullshit. In fact recently one kid got sexually harassed at a con and instead of calling the authorities she bitched about the fandom on Tumblr. Shame the poster removed his/her post because damage control.

iirc it turned out to be real which imo is even more disgusting because the situation was dealt with irresponsibly and instead of blaming the guy in question the blame went onto an entire fandom with had nothing to do with the situtaion (As it happened in an hotel rather than a con)

 

What wasn't real was the whole "Disabled guy didn't want r34 of his OC" thing. For starters the OC is often showed alongside a picture of a kid when the guy in question is 17 and his mum had to come up and say the entire thing was bullshit and he was actually pretty cool with r34 of him. The best thing about this is that when the post was first made the only r34 was made by a Brony hate blog.

 

Honestly I could say that a squadron of bronies flew from the sky and divebombed puppies at the north pole and Tumblr would believe every word

Oh yeah, these people are the worst. As someone very active on Tumblr, I can say that it's a pretty crappy place to be if you manage to find the Social Justice side. There are many, many people there who have a legitimate understanding of social justice and the actual problems of society, make no mistake, but when you bump into an SJW you may as well have started to speaking to the stereotypical satanist. They will either pat you on the back and agree with you and it'll seem cool until they start saying certain people should die and then despise you when you disagree, or they'll despise your guts and send you death threats through the anonymous feature.

 

Honestly, my best recommendation, is just don't join Tumblr. Once you're in, you see the worst in humanity, and it ain't fun.

Once I was part of the “Stop joking about hating men and white and cis straight people!  Don’t fight hate with hate!!!!!1” club too. I was very very offended the first time a friend was like, “Argh, straight people!” at me. But as I became more immersed in social justice discourse, I stopped hearing those kinds of jokes as hate, and started hearing them as a secret code.

When someone makes a misandry joke, instead of hearing, “Lol all men are awful,” I have started to hear, “I neither want to nor think I should have to put up with the bullshit treatment I get from men as a result of the patriarchy, am I right?” and I laugh because I agree, you shouldn’t have to.

And when someone makes jokes about feminism or women, I hear, “I think it’s not fair for me to be expected to have to be decent to women, am I right?” and I tell them to cut it out because I disagree, you should have to.

I feel like I understand how "warriors" came about, and keep in mind I do believe that the quotes are necessary because there are still people who genuinely fight for positive change who call themselves warriors, and they have every right to do so in my book.

 

Warriors have what I've come to call a Superhero Complex. It's natural for people to want to be lauded as heroes who fight for justice in a cruel world, but the fact is most people aren't cut out for heroism. So, a few people have taken to the internet, and instead of using it to champion legitimate causes will bandwagon whatever's trendy and attack people they can't see who don't look too scary (read: are either too stupid or too nice/sensible to fight the way they do). They see righteous anger and the defeat of villains and they want to replicate it for themselves in the safest possible way. 

 

I would imagine this is one of many factors, but bully role-reversal has been discussed to death so I thought I'd bring up something new. Causation aside, it is tragic that so many important issues are being dragged through the mud in yet another way.

I think you might be missing that if you're white and gay but a woman you are still "privileged". At least that's one trend that I've noticed. But I only follow a few of them so it might not be that widespread.

The thing I've noticed about tumblr is that things are either too simple or far too over-thought. On one hand someone could be one of the numerous sexualities that I still don't understand and be completely accepted, but on the other hand they could be homophobic and suddenly they're worse than Satan.

 

To each their own, which is what they preach, but it's exactly what they're against at the same time.

 

Me personally, I don't care about tumblr's "social justice warriors". They just sit on their asses and hit the reblog button while complaining about how fucked up this planet is.
