When the alicorn sisters came into power so long ago, the Wonderbolts were established as an entertaining and regulating squad for all pegasi. But they were not the only squad established, two more were also created so that all three of the races of pony could be represented. 
The ThunderBolts, WonderBolts, and the LightningBolts. Who each represented the earth ponies, the pegasi and the unicorns in kind. 
But in their early stages, the Thunderbolts and the LightningBolts were destroyed by an unknown enemy, and only the Wonderbolts survived. 

Over time, the other two squads were forgotten, but not by the princesses. And today in this time of peace, they have decided to return the squads back to society. 
Of course, they needed to train recruits for the squads, and here you are at the gates of the Joined academy for the Bolt Squads.
With your bags, instructions to head to the main conference room, and a determination to do your best for Equestria.

Drill Horn limped towards the conference room with a heavy bag on his back. He didn't know what to expect. He just heard that they the LightningBolts needed recruits, so he signed up and it seemed like they liked him. Hopefully the other recruits weren't "to" good. Not that it was a bad thing, but then they would make him look bad. He was almost to the conference room when his bag ripped open and all of his stuff fell out.

Assured Gambit strode in through the gates, adjusting the bags slung across his back and eating an apple he'd bought on his way. He and his sister had applied to the Academy, but only Gambit was accepted. This was the first time he'd been so far away from his sister, though he wasn't worried about himself. It was habit by now that he worried about his sister. After all, they'd been the only family for one another for 6 years. 

 

He stopped outside the main conference room and finished his apple, dropping the core into a nearby trashcan. "Here goes nothing, Sis. Wish me luck." He said, opening the doors and walking in confidently. Now it was just a matter of waiting to see what happens next.

Sonic Wind soared over the academy. He carried but one duffel slung across his chest, which only made it difficult to fly at speed. As he looked down, he saw hundreds and hundreds of other recruits. He didn't feel discouraged though, in fact he was quite confident of his flying skills. "Eh, not everyone gets accepted to the academy, fewer pass, and the best of the best become bolts."

 

He did a U-turn and glided down through the conference room doors, landing next to Gambit. "Exciting isn't it? Just waiting to know what's going to happen next within these walls." He grinned and looked around, he then turned back to Gambit. "Oh, I'm Sonic Wind, but you can just call me Sonic."

Cassidy trotted up to the academy building, saddlebag in tow, and was amazed at the sight.

 

"We'll write to you!" said Riley, pulling Cassidy in for a bro-hug.

 

"Thanks, guys," replied Cassidy. "I'll tell you what magic I get to master, and what theother students are like."

 

"You'd better hope that they aren't like the other kids Anala and I encountered on that summer camp back when we were kids. They were a bunch of bullies!" added Riley.

 

"I was lucky not to get sent home when I punched one of them in the face..." chimed in Anala, and chuckled.

 

"Goodbye, Cassidy," said Clementia, wrapping an arm around him.

 

"Aw, guys..." said Cassidy. He was so lucky to have friends like these.

 

"See you in a few months!" called Cassidy, trotting up to the building.

 

"Goodbye!" called the other three, as Riley resisted to urge to rush over and give another farewell hug.

Drill Horn entered the conference room with his heavy bag and dropped it next to Sonic Wind. With his back aching Drill Horn sat down. He was shy so he didn't bother to talking to the other ponies. He got bored of just waiting for something to happen, so he grabbed a book out of his backpack and started reading.

As he watched his friends go on their way, Cassidy waited in the conference room for whatever was to happen next. He had a considerably large bag to satisfy his book-hungry needs. Oh, and for the other stuff he needed. He continued reading his Harry Trotter book from where he left off. It made him wonder what sort of magic he would be learning during his stay.

As Drill Horn was reading his book he saw another pony reading a Harry Trotter book. Drill had never read any other books besides Daring Do. He wanted to asked the pony what it was about, but he didn't want to interrupt him. So while he was reading Drill Horn read the description on the back of the book trying not to be noticed.

Cassidy got bored by some of the lengthy dialogue in the book, so began looking aimlessly around the room, until he saw a navy-blue(ish) unicorn looking over at him. He decided not to be so withdrawn as usual. "Oh, are you interested in this book?" he asked. He smiled. "Don't worry, it's fine if you are. (insert equine name pun for J.K. Rowling) is an amazing author."

"Oh yeah, uh sorry. I had never seen these kinds books. The city I come from has a small library. Probably only has about 100 books".  He back away and sat back down on his spot.  " So anyways, mind telling me your name? I'm Drill Horn, and obviously I'm a unicorn".

"Oh, uh... my name is Cassidy," he replied, and then chuckled. "If you were about to meet someone named Cassidy, you wouldn't usually expect them to be a guy..." He then took notice of Drill Horn's cutie mark. "Is your special talent building and fixing things?" he asked.

"Yup! And your is uh... making books? Sorry I'm really bad at identifying cutie marks. I see that it's a book it's just that I'm bad as knowing what each cutie mark means." Let me take another guess. Is it because you like reading books and you work at a library?" Just a guess, but am I right?

"Yeah, I don't make books, reading is my special talent. And yes, I work as an assistant at a library in Manehattan," he explained to Drill Horn. "Back when I was just a colt in school, I would spend practically my whole lunch break with my head stuck in a book."

Code had finally reached the gates to the Acadamy. As he passed through them, he smiled knowing that he would be able to drop his dufflebag and saddlebags, which were both packed full. Pulling out the instructions on where to go, he wandered the courtyard in search of his destination. Around him were a plethora of students and other recruits attending to their own business of talking, studying, and the occasional horseplay. Code mainly avoided these groups along the way to the conference room as his goal wasn't to try and make friends right away, but to get settled in.

 

Coming up to a set of doors, he looked at the instructions one last time and confirmed this was the correct building. He put the paper away and entered the building. Upon entering, Code saw that some others were also there. He figured those were other recruits just like him, waiting to receive their next block of instructions. Looking around the room, Code spotted a place over in the corner where he could finally sit down. He went to this spot and dropped his bags on the floor, making a loud "thud" as they hit the ground. Code then sat on his dufflebag and waited.

Gambit looked at the Unicorn pony who had spilled his books, feeling a pang of guilt for not stopping to help. Just as well, though. Gambit probably would've looked like a jerk either way. He lost his train of thought when a pony started talking to him and introduced himself as Sonic. He looked downwards at Sonic, not out of elitism, but just because Gambit was tall.

 

"Nice to meet ya, Sonic. Name's Assured Gambit, but everypony just calls me Gambit." He said with a smile as he held out his hoof towards Sonic. "Exciting? Sure looks that way. It'll be hard, though."

"Well it was nice talking to you, but I'm going to try get to know everyone, so I'll see you later". With that Drill Horn left the conversation and started walking towards Code Junkie who was sitting in the corner. Drill Horn approached him with a friendly " Hi! "

Code took the opportunity to take a look around the room. He saw some other ponies talking to each other, but other than that, nothing too interesting going on. He looked down at his bags, contemplating whether or not if he should take out his handheld game device. His thoughts were interrupted when a voice next to him said "Hi!". He looked up to see a navy blue unicorn with a black mane. "Uhm... Hi?"

Cassidy watched as the unicorn, whom he now knew to be named Drill Horn, trotted over to a grey pegasus with a blue mane. If this is where I'm staying for the next few months, might as well get to know everypony, he decided, and followed. "Um... hi? What's your name?" he asked the pegasus.

In addition to the one that just greeted him, Code noticed the green unicorn that the blue one had just made conversation with coming towards him as well. When the green unicorn got up to him and asked his name, Code made a half attempt to smile and replied. "My name is Code Junkie, but I prefer just Code."

"Hi code!" My name is Drill Horn, but you can call me Drill". He showed off his cutie mark. " As you can see my cutie mark is a drill and hammer because I'm great at making things and fixing stuff. Mostly fixing stuff, but I like to build things sometimes". Drill glanced at Cassidy since she was the only one who hasn't introduced herself to Junk Code yet.

Sonic looks at his hoof and gives it a brohoof. "Hard? I don't think it will be for me. I've been a Wonderbolt cadet for a few years and I think I can take anything they can throw at me." He felt that rush of competitive attitude hit him and he felt very energized.

"Hello there, Code Junkie. Or just code. My name is Cassidy," he replied. "As you can see, my cutie mark is a book, representing my passion for books and reading. Oh, and I work at a library in Manehattan." He raised an eyebrow at Code's cutie mark. "What does your cutie mark mean? I've never seen one like that before..."

 "It's nice to meet both of you, Drill and Cassidy." Code said calmly, glancing at their cutiemarks as they showed and explained them. When Cassidy asked about his, Code looked down at his cutiemark and looked back up at Cassidy to answer. "My cutiemark is binary code, which is the language of computers. I like to fiddle with computers and other types of technology." He replied.

"That's cool! I hope this meeting gets started soon I'm getting soooo bored!" (In real life to) "when do you think this meeting will get started?" asked Drill Horn. " There's not really anything to do except talk to each other". Drill Horn sighed and looked at the other ponies in the room.

"I do too." Code replied to Drill Horn. He had decided that now would be a good time to kill time, so Code reached down into his saddlebag and grabbed out his handheld game device. He turned the handheld on and the familiar "ping" went off. Returning his attention back to the others while his game loaded, Code went to answer Drill Horn. "I'm not sure when the meeting will start, but I assume everyone is still not here yet." Code said, looking around the room at what few are there before resuming to play on his game.
