  1. If an entire philosophy crumbles when one accounts for human equine evil, then maybe it was a ridiculous philosophy to begin with.
  2. Better dead than red, everypony. :D

It was superb. I though the villain was pretty good too.

Agreed. She was a pretty clear Orwellian analogue, with her message of "All Ponies are equal, but some are more equal than others." Tons of great symbolism with that equal sign popping up everywhere. Just very well spoken all around.

I'd like to buy that writing team a beer with my own pig-dog capitalist currency. They deserve an applause.

  3. Over the years, MLP has taught me many great lessons about friendship, but today I feel I have been taught the most important friendship lesson of all:

As the jazz age wanes slowly, the age of rock and roll begins in full force. And we can thank Mr. Bill Haley for that. This is Shake, Rattle and Roll, by Bill Haley and His Comets.

While I was browsing through the hits for this year, I had a revelation. I think I know what the pick for 1999 is going to be. If you want to try and figure it out for yourself, go right ahead. Or, you could just sit here and listen to Dean Martin perform (what I consider to be) his most famous song. That's Amore.

Like Louis, we all knew Peggy Lee had to make it to this blog, but I bet few predicted which song I would use. This one's an energetic little number. It's called Lover.
  7. How did I not think of that? Yeah, Burial at Sea was amazing.
  8. Best: Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam. I can't think of another expansion that changed the game in quite the way this one did. BC2 was already one of my favorite shooters, and Vietnam not only improved on the base game, it surpassed it. After downloading this expansion I stopped playing vanilla BC2 almost altogether and moved exclusively to the expansion. It's an absolute masterpiece. Worst: Mass Effect: Pinnacle Station. I paid $15 to get this piece of shit the day it came out. It was nothing but a few lousy arcadey timed "training" missions and almost no story. I beat it in one sitting, had no fun, and didn't even return to it in future playthroughs. Just last week, I did a full completionist playthrough of the original Mass Effect, and despite vowing to get every last keeper, and every last league of one medallion, and rank up the full 1-50 in one shot, I still didn't add Pinnacle to that list despite it now being free.
  9. Brb, making CoryForyms.com. MLP, get BTFO.
  10. Oh cool. FIM turning into a stereotypical magical girl anime complete with anthro and everything where did I leave my cyanide capsule?

Fuck, I love 30th century music. You 3015 millennials forget that we didn't always have genres like "literally getting shot in the ear with a handgun." There was a time when music was simply terrible, and didn't liquefy your spinal cord in 7.2 femtoseconds. Dare I say, there was even a time when it didn't cause painful, gory deaths at all. Why, I remember one crazy party where they played a piece as old as 2016, and I only vomited three pints of blood! Those were the days. Here's The Inevitable Bottom of the Barrel, by David Guetta('s head in a jar). Just try not to listen to more than 45 seconds of it, unless the feeling of your lungs running through your digestive system turns you on or something. I don't judge.
  12. Jesus, this Comic Sans. It hurts my eyes! DDDDDD:

  13. God dammit, I just got shrekt.

  14. Erm... Fast Forward was part of the rebooted 2000s series, not the original '87 series. Big difference. If anything, that's an argument against reboots. ...Which is what Gen 5 would technically be.

You just know I had to put Louis in here somewhere. It just wouldn't be the 20th century without him. Quick headphone warning though, it's a tad loud in the middle. A Kiss to Build a Dream On, Louis Armstrong.
  16. From the only two games I've played: Jazz Nation Radio in GTAIV. Not only because I love 20th century jazz, but because the songs go surprisingly well with the mellow, bleak world of Liberty City. Los Santos Rock Radio in GTAV. I didn't much care for Liberty Rock Radio, since the songs were chosen seemingly at random for that station. In GTAV, on the other hand, the songs they chose reflect the bright, self-absorbed, hedonistic, wildly anachronistic shithole that is San Andreas to perfection.

Thus we begin my all-time favorite decade. For the next 13 years, it's gonna be harder than hell to pick just one song out of all the greats that came out in the Fifties and early Sixties. But I shall find a way. Let's start it off by running into the decade face-first. It's a silly song, but catchier than the world's luckiest fisherman. It's Rag Mop... or... "Ragg Mopp," by the Ames Brothers.
  18. A postwar paradise. Something like New York City, circa 1956

I don't typically finish what I start. It's a curse. I have loads of unfinished projects just laying around that will probably never see completion. When I started this project, I thought I wouldn't even reach World War I. 1949 is the halfway point. Between 1900 and 1999, this is post #50, and hell's bells, I'm still going strong. Maybe it has something to do with this post being written a full month and a half before the day it comes out, but I don't care. Something about A Century of Song just compels me to see it through to the end. So far, I have worked on this project every single day since I have started it, and I see no reason to slow down now. Enjoy some Doris Day, while I saddle up and do the whole thing all over Again.
