However, it's still a thread system, which has too much of a delay between sending, reading, and response times. That's why I've not been through it. I just think things'd be simpler and better to have a proper chat system set up. This place already has so many cool features, so it does boggle me as to why this isn't one they'd try sort out and use(no hate on techie staff - ya'll are doing a great job with everything else).

That's fair enough, and there's nothing stopping users from creating their own groups on Skype, or whatever, but I know what you mean.

I do remember coming across a possible alternative that could be used for the site quite a long time ago, but I never bothered to suggest it as I didn't think it would even get acknowledged. No clue what it was called now anyway... I'd have to look it up again.

Yeah, it is easy enough to make groups via Skype to chat between friends. However, that ends up restricting the ability to meet new people.

Anyone can talk positively towards someone who has a common interest, but it's the random banter and casual chatting that forms proper bonds. Topical threads force you to only discuss a single thing with another person, and there is no real way to develop a conversation.

This is where the benefits of chat rooms apply.
