    I'm going to make it impossible to log in here in a few minutes. We are members of a site where some people can get warnings for everything under the sun and not get banned until the 8th or 9th warning, yet we get people being slammed with final warnings and 7 day suspensions after just 2 warnings for things much less severe. I just can't do this anymore.

      Actually, this was the fifth instance of an almost identical offense, which I'll refrain from discussing to respect the user's privacy. M'aiq's warning history had many infractions, but few of those were of the same situation.

      The first time you do something minor, you'll get a slap on the wrist. The second time, the penalty will be more severe. The third time, even more so. The fourth instance, in this user's case, was worth 600 points, but the staff settled on a PM as a gesture of goodwill. Only at the end was this "final warning" given. Honestly, even repeated off-topic warnings will eventually lead to a ban.

      Ultimately, the point is this: the staff gives you many chances. That includes pulling you aside and talking it out one-on-one. In many cases, these are actually off the record. We like to give our members as many chances as they deserve, but such goodwill can only be granted so many times.
