Many accuse FIM of going into seasonal rot post-whichever season and that it hasn't been good since whichever season. I really disagree. Other than 6, the show has been better than ever during the later seasons.

My only real gripes with the newer seasons is they kind of over did the world building and lore, which took away from the mysterious wander the first few seasons had and sometimes it feels like they reset character development (mostly in Spike centric stories). Otherwise, mostly great stuff. I think the series as a whole is getting a second wind because other media has been getting better. The comics especially, almost everything from issues 22 to 40 was garbage, but the recent storylines have been top notch and the side series have been amazing.

Much of this stems back from the old analogy to The Simpsons and Family Guy. The argument is that when a show has gone on for "too long" it becomes stale and loses its creativity.
But that's hardly or necessarily true, even if it has happened for The Simpsons and Family Guy doesn't mean it will always happen to any show. If anything's its rather disappointing that G5 will end soon, not just because it will be another unique MLP generation with all its writing and characters gone from us, but also because all the world building and development that has transpired.
There really is so much more about Equestria and the Mane 6 that could be expanded on, and something tells me that 1 last season or 2 simply may not adequately cover those details and other potential the show still has. For me, its like G5 finally began to blossom and shine in the sun, and now the creators and producers just chose to kill it and move on.
