    Does anyone know what the term "a la carte" means? I overheard someone saying it and I have no idea what it means

      It's basically a french sentence that means 'according to the menu' in, for example, a restaurant.

      when you go to a restaurant, it means when you buy something by itself. So if you went to McDonalds and wanted just french fries without a drink and burger, you would be buying the fries a la carte
