  1. 2000 words of - dare I say it - nit-picking... Quibble Pants, is that you?
  2. Wait. You didn't know? You didn't find it odd that there were people following you around for weeks jotting stuff down on legal pads and... Oh, never mind. That was months ago.
  3. Onlyone: Don't be angry. I mean, I can see how you might. But consider this: the negativity you are getting is not so much about MLP FIM, it's about the Internet forum - not just this one, but social media as a whole. This sort of place just brings out the worst in a lot of people. (Not all! - there's awesome people here!) Those who say the fandom has gone to hell are mostly talking to hear their heads rattle. They may not even know any fans - just a bunch of anonymous "voices" on a forum. I have met a few Bronies, and they were bright, positive, caring people. I have 14 year old Brony friends, adult Brony friends, and I myself am 64. The other day I was having lunch with a friend, wearing (as usual) a Pony T-shirt, hoodie and wristband. I young woman came over to out table and said, "I love your T-shirt and band!" She was smiling, and seemed very warm and genuine. She said she was a fan. I said I was too, and we brohoofed, and she went on her way. She didn't need to do that. Many would have been too embarrassed. But she did, and it made my day. I have only been watching MLP FIM for a couple of years, but it has literally changed my life. Does it make me optimistic? Yes! Do I enjoy the show? More, and more as time goes by. The show isn't getting worse, it's evolving. And sometimes people want things to stay exactly as they are. But that's unrealistic. To my way of thinking, the show has improved. And it was awesome to start with. So no, you aren't wasting your time, and neither are those involved in making the show. MLP FIM is a bright, warm little flame in a very dark world. Soak up the warmth and look at those who are around you doing the same thing. Forget the negative types. Love and Tolerance is alive. Feel it and be it. Fly your Pony flag and be happy. Hugs, GGB
  4. Well, I loved the father/daughter team. So cute! And the song was very fun. Nice seeing Pinkie, too. And she was right! How could anyone believe that such a scrawny, pale, vampire-looking creature such as Zesty could possibly know anything about food? I loved the decorating crew ponies too.
  5. Creative use of language is one of the things I like about MLP FIM. As a writer, it's like getting a cherry on top of everything else. I highly recommend "Fine Dictionary", a site with multiple dictionary references for most words. Lots of etymology and usage stuff as well. Check it out... http://www.finedictionary.com/zephyr.html
  6. zephyr Definitions WordNet 3.6n Zephyr (Greek mythology) the Greek god of the west wind n zephyr a slight wind (usually refreshing) "the breeze was cooled by the lake","as he waited he could feel the air on his neck" *** Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary n Zephyr The west wind; poetically, any soft, gentle breeze. "Soft the zephyr blows.""As gentleAs zephyrs blowing below the violet.""Soft the zephyr blows.""As gentle As zephyrs blowing below the violet." *** Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia n zephyr The west wind; poetically, any soft, mild, gentle breeze. n zephyr In entomology, a butterfly of the genus Zephyrus. n zephyr A trade-name for a textile fabric or yarn, very fine and light of its kind, and for some other things of similar qualities: chiefly in attributive use: as, zephyr worsted; zephyr crackers (that is, biscuits). *** Chambers's Twentieth Century Dictionary n Zephyr zef′ir the west wind: a soft, gentle breeze: thin light worsted or woollen yarn, also a close-fitting jersey or undergarment made of such: anything very light and fine of its kind *** Etymology Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary L. zephyrus, Gr. , akin to darkness, the dark side, west: cf. F. zéphyr, Chambers's Twentieth Century Dictionary Gr. zephyros—zophos, darkness, the dark quarter, the west. More here: http://www.finedictionary.com/zephyr.html There's more to "zephyr" than just a soft breeze. And since he's Fluttershy's behavioral opposite, the "dark side" connotation fits. He's everything she isn't - tall, pushy, loud, crass, and totally solipsistic.
  7. Seriously?... No. Read a bit about the colossal ego that is the quack "Dr. Phil," and you probably will no longer. http://atpeacewithpink.blogspot.com/2016/06/what-does-internet-dr-say-quack-quack.html Given the ending of the episode, it seems that Fluttershy's "enabling behavior" helped to sort out Zephyr's problems. He isn't a whole new pony, but he has begun to change. He acknowledged his part in his series of failures and was forced to confront some of his anxieties and displacement behaviors. Fluttershy, backed by Rainbow Dash, brought that about. That is not enabling. That is caring - and for Fluttershy - a species of tough love. I didn't care for the personality traits exhibited by Zephyr, but there's a little of him in all of us. And I think that's behind the excessively negative response to his character. We tend to "hate" people who show us a part of ourselves that we don't want to own and feel ashamed of. I was delighted to meet Fluttershy's parents, and her brother. Maybe Zephyr will open a salon in Ponyville. With a regular income and a supportive community he might just shed a lot of his bravado and become a pony that more ponies than Flutters and her parents could love. I loved seeing Flutters and Rainbow Dash singing together. And wasn't Rainbow Dash showing a pleasing but uncharacteristic degree of self-control when dealing with the more obnoxious bits of Zephyr's character?
  8. No, maybe not. But she clearly loves her brother, regardless of how shiftless and infuriating he is. When you love someone you keep at it.
  9. It is fundamental. But the fact is, ingrained patterns tend to be self-reinforcing. We all need to be reminded from time to time that we could stand to change habits and methods which were once good and made sense but don't any more. As for no one calling Apple Jack on her bizarre technique for feeding the pigs - she was getting the job done. And if there's anything I would expect the Apple family members to be good at, it would be minding their own business.
  10. Not every episode has to be razzle-dazzle. I just loved Applejack's "suiting-up" montage.
  11. Since the entire Mane Six was away, he was probably pet sitting.
  12. Well! This was awesome! (How come so many Rarity episodes are so awesome?) I think my favorite moment was the hoof bump between Dashie & AJ. These are the ponies I know and love. Good lesson - be your self!
  13. I'm not a Starlight Glimmer fan myself, but she was great in this episode... My favorite moments?
  14. Closure? No, I don't think so. She just realized a dream. It's another chapter heading. And that means episodes where she finds her place in the Wonderbolts and has adventures with them.
  15. OK. Late to the party, and an alicorn has been born that way since this discussion was last posted to. But... Wouldn't it be cool if there was an episode called "Calling All Alicorns" where the Wonderbolts acted as a "platform" for alicorn magic in a time of a national emergency? How many alicorns besides Twilight Sparkle and the Canterlot royal family are out there? We know that alicorns can be born as well as sprouting wings later in life. Can a pegasus ever grow a horn and gain the ability to do magic? Personally, I'd like to see Sunburst sprout wings and get his magic game on... A male alicorn would be something new...
  16. I'd really like to see Rainbow Dash begin to think about how the Wonderbolts don't do anything but occasionally act as a color guard for Celestia/ royal doings. They seem to have a sort of military framework, but they don't have weapons and they don't really do anything except formation flying.
  17. Re: the hazing. Pretty mild hazing to my mind and Rainbow Dash needed taking down a few pegs anyway. Her head got so fat she was flying blind. She's flying with the big ponies now and needs to be more heads-up and chill. As shown before, RD is really solipsistic and needs refinement on her team player skills. Precision work needs focus, not showboating, and I think the treatment she got from her team-mates brought that front and center. Let's hope she can keep the lesson in her pea brain. I'm very fond of Rainbow Dash, but her weakness is her tendency to let her ego catapult her into a place of no caution. Loyalty is her element, and she will always be there in a pinch, but often the pinch comes about when her self-absorption blinds her to the danger she's flying into. Chiil, Dashie, chill. And stay frosty!
  18. I wonder if Celestia is having a rough time with that baby of Cadence's... I personally view small children as menu items, maybe she's a little "fed up."
  19. Sorry, but I beg to differ. I have my own pantheon of mental/emotional issues severe enough that I have been on SSI for the last 30 years. And MLP: FIM does help immensely. A couple of months ago I was going through a really bad patch and I called my doctor. She talked to me for awhile about my physical and mental symptoms and my really serious anxiety and panic attacks. Do you know what she ended up with after tweaking my meds and setting an appointment for me? She said, "Are you watching the Ponies? Go and watch the ponies right now!" (I have the DVDs) "Snuggle up with your Pinkie Pie stuffie and I'll see you on Thursday!" The Ponies do help. My life is measurably happier since I discovered Friendship is Magic. And I'll just bet there are plenty of people right here on these forums who will say the same. I have real-life friends - good ones - and they are a great comfort to me. My doctor is awesome, but when I wake up in the middle of the night with tachycardia, and runaway anxiety, it is most often the Ponies that get my feet back down on the ground. I have "The Art of Equestria" at the head of my bed along with my Pony stuffies, vinyl figures and other Pony stuff, and it helps! Pastel Ponies are good medicine. And I'm sure that's true whether you're 14 or 64 (like me!)
  20. I rated this episode a "meh." Mostly because I don't much like Trixie or Starlight. I don't believe either of them is truly reformed. The dinner scenes with Celestia were out of character, I thought. And as someone else said, why was Fluttershy so scared of the mantichore? (And do they really chain up animals for "circus" acts in Equestria? Disappointing.) What I did like was Rainbow Dash's scene. And as someone else said, the facial animation was great on Dashie and Applejack. It was nice to see Big Macintosh and DJ Pon, but not so much the action in their scenes. And all they could do with Derpy is have her run into something? The animation was excellent, and I liked getting a peep at Flutters, finally. But I feel that it made Twilight even more of a control freak than she really is. Personally, I think her doubts about Starlight are well-founded. Ditto Trixie. Yup. Definitely a "meh."
  21. I found it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbd1m02NfUI It's a good quality You Tube post.
  22. That's just because Angel knows that deep down, Starlight is as evil as Angel.
  23. Well, it's been awhile since the great dragon migration that Spike followed, but Garble doesn't look much different. Dragons live for a very long time. I would assume that means that dragons age verrrry slowly. Spike may still be quite small when Twilight is old and gray.
  24. They did. They accompanied their friend to a scary place he didn't want to go, and were supportive.
