    It would seem that my family and I are going on a week's road trip to see other family. On the one hand, I get to see my adorable nieces and nephews. On the other, no internet for a week. Still, should be a load of fun.

    This is an interesting first draft, but it will take a lot of polishing to get into what I consider a good book. First off, it's very rushed. There's little to no exposition, which forces the story forward at a reckless pace. Second, you tell too much and show too little, for instance, instead of saying Mike was startled, you could say Mike's eyes opened wide and his jaw nearly hit the floor. Third, general writing problems, such as grammar, and the lack of paragraphs, though you did much better in the fifth chapter. And last but not least, there's not much characterization. With that said, I do like the story, so far. Having a fragment of Sombra inside Damien could be a very good plot point, though if you don't handle it right, it could go badly. It's a good first draft, in any case. ^^

      No, it was some kind of reed, but mostly the fiberglass handle of the rake I was using to rake them up. They've mostly come out by now, though.

    I like it, but I prefer my headcanon, which is that Celestia has so much power she can't control it once it reaches a certain threshold, i.e. she would utterly annihilate everything if she used too much power. So when she fought Chrysalis she used all of her 'safe' power, then when that wasn't enough, she chose to rely on Twilight and her friends, rather than turn Canterlot Castle to molten lava.
