  1. For me it's not really about the content, but the spirit of the joke. I see some that I can't help but think aren't meant to be funny but to put people down or have a laugh at the expense of someone seen as "inferior".
  2. At first I thought there had been a disaster at the spa, but it actually doesn't look bad. Kind of punk, maybe.
  3. Both. One of the fantastic things about indie games on the PC is that if you miss old school graphics and simplicity, you can easily pick up brand-new titles for 5-15 bucks.
  4. I recently polished off an indie game called Waking Mars in about 6-7 hours. I'd picked it up for a couple bucks on Steam. It's pretty much space gardening with that guy from Transcendence.
  5. I tend not to connect well to others offline, so there's plenty of room if the right people come along. I'm not shy, but my lifestyle, attitudes, and my interests are very different compared to those around me. I hate smartphones, I'm happy to chat to people from different political parties without fighting, I still read classic literature and classic sci-fi, and I love to write with no fear of rejection. Online, there's room but not as much. I'm afraid of spending too much time at my computer keeping up with people miles away just to have something to do and not because we have a strong friendship despite the distance. Before you know it, a whole evening can go by posting on forums or replying to PMs, but you might not feel less lonely for it.
  6. Do you guys have room outdoors for tomatoes? My space is pretty cramped right now, but I dream of having my own little space outside that's good for plants that need more sunlight. I know the feeling. We had some nice trees and shrubs at the house I grew up in, but most of it is gone.
  7. Imagine my surprise finding that onion on the back of the shelf after I'd just finished planting ginger. Does anyone else here grow their own herbs, food, or anything else fun? If you haven't tried it, it's super-fun and there are plants that require very little care that aren't cacti. You can learn a lot about how to be gentle by taking care of parsley.
  8. @Magos Amphrose That's because there isn't a one-size-fits all answer for how a boy asks out a girl, how a girl asks out a boy, or anything like that. Asking someone out is one part reading a social situation and two parts guts. Writing is all about understanding how your work comes across to others, knowing how to use white space, and being able to look up any grammar rules you don't know by heart.
  9. I tested as 111 on a test that I think was in middle school. I consider myself reasonably smart, but better at problem-solving and critical thinking than at things like mathematical and spatial reasoning. I see it often on forums and Reddit, but I haven't had to ask the Internet things like how to ask someone out or how to improve my own writing since I was 16-ish.
  10. Now that I think about it, realistic brainwashing is surprisingly dark. I'm always glad when cartoons don't pull their punches too much, though. I didn't see Starlight Glimmer as evil, even though her actions were that of a villain. To me the way she talked about her choices more than the choices themselves suggested deep personal wounds that were being taken out on the world around her, where she could build and control things as she wanted after failing to do so elsewhere. Those friends weren't just for each other, they were for her. Every time she started ranting I just thought, "Were you snubbed one too many times or something?"
  11. I heard a good theory once, that people define themselves as much by what they hate or aren't as by what they are or love.
  12. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight Sparkle How did you find MLP Forums?: I was browsing around for new communities online and realized there are probably forums for this. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Sheer exposure. I hate how I can't search anything on the Internet without seeing My Little Pony versions, but I love the show itself. Thought it would be nice to poke around a bit. I don't write, draw, or roleplay, but I do like hearing what other people are saying and I write reviews of my own for other types of content.
