I am... very greatly disappointed in the design of the new starters. Sure, this was more than made up for in other spots but still...
It's as if they barely cared to design anything. I've got a quarter of a mind to write out a full review on every pokemon in the new generation.

There's really a lot to criticize with the new generation... From all the impressions I get I'd say it might just be the worst gen of Pokemon yet. There's so many huge design problems with the game, that I just intend to vote "No" with my wallet on this one even if I get a Switch. It's a shame that the most of the Pokemon community just immaturely called anyone who dared to do that a "petulant child" (hypocritical I know). If that $#!+ continues, I might just well be done with Pokemon entirely with a community that wants to ruin its own beloved franchise, by being so absurdly toxic and defensive of what's clearly $#!+.
I really hope they do not continue on the route of lazy, bad, complacent design they went for with Sword and Shield. Hopefully it won't spoil any potential Gen 4 remake...

@Stone Cold Steve Tuna Long, limp hair, vacant eyes, repetitive nonsense words used as a cry... what's the line for proving that Tommy Wiseau ISN'T a pokemon?
@Dustlicious2020 Well, there's a very wide range as to who counts what as poorly done. Gosh, I can, and often do, like pokemon because of simplistic or absurd design! I love Electrode for being a living ball battery! But... If I can go on a rant here...
They gave Rillaboom a hunchback, because what else represents a gorilla, huh? It's the first pokemon to have its own, separate tool to attack... and absurdly widen its base of design. Unweildly as its shape is, at least its unique.
Raboot was cute... but then it evolves into Cinderace which.... its just a pair of legs. It kicks, that's it. Every single animation is either flex or kick... irregardless if you're using Headbutt or attacks that don't even kick. They wanted to do a Rabbit that they haven't done before... they had Soccer... that's it. Just Soccer Rabbit. Sure, Soccer's a thing in Britain, but... Why Gorilla Drummer? Why Thin Lizard? I can accept "Punk Bipedal Badger", "Poison Toad Rocker" but here... it's like they're TRYING to say these starters represent Britain, and could only be done here, in this setting & experience... but just, nothing, it falls flat.
Like... Geezus. I don't mean to offend anyone who believes differently (you're a greater being then I if you can) but Intelleon just makes me sick to look at it.
Its tail is thicker than its waist, its hands are bigger than its head, its legs are longer than its torso, in inexplicibly shoots fingerjets of water for no other reason than "its cool that way" when literally every water type (the most common typing!) can do that... they took something Cute & Emotional like Sobble… and turned it into some scrawny stick figure in every half-finished game.
Like, there's so many other Pokémon designs this generation I've grownt o love but... it saddens me to see what looks like they just gave up and chucked out basic bipedal designs. Like... sure they did bipedal designs before in Gen 7 & 6, but they added little touches & symbols that made it a pokemon more part of this world they create.
Like, take Obstagoon for example! I sure bet there's dozens of video game enemies that are bipedal, fuzzy, anthro thugs... but the pseudo-hair vest, the waggling tongue, the look in the eyes, these are all things put together in a unique way that makes this its own thing. ...and the starters just stand around.
It just doesn't work for me this time around.
Though major points for getting me to WILLINGLY pick a monkey. A species I'm actively afraid of!
