  1. NavelColt's post in Can't log on using my real account. was marked as the answer
Tickets, especially tech issues, can sometimes require some patience on users' parts. We have very few (by which I mean about one) tech ponies who are capable of solving the more irritatingly weird technical issues that accounts face. Feel free to use this account until he's able to reply and solve your ticket :3 After that however, this current one will be suspended appropriately. I'll also point this out specifically to him and see if it can be dealt with rather immediately.

Thanks for your continued patience <3
  2. NavelColt's post in How to request a thread to be pinned. was marked as the answer
Technically speaking, pinning specifics depend on the forum We're selective on what gets pinned in general, but what ends up getting pinned is different from forum to forum. For example, there is nothing business related whatsoever pinned in the main discussion areas of the forum. Only incredibly popular topics that get used daily, and are so broad that they are unlikely to ever lose momentum. As far as Creative Resources specifically goes, it tends to be broad, wide-spread threads that serve a specific purpose that can and will be used by artists and users. I pinned the Writing Centre because it covers everything from proofreading to getting tips on general writing, which is a huge hub of interaction and helpful information.

That's a theme you'll find across pinned threads. Pretty much all member threads that get pinned (that aren't in the main discussion areas), have some kind of broader purpose that serves to fulfill a function for the community as a whole. The writing center in CR aides in writing. The pinned topic in Life Advice serves for giving advice to bronies who are afraid or unsure of how to come out to their friends and family, etc. Individual topics like 'I'll review your OC's' isn't quite the same thing

All this aside, no one should feel like they can't ask a mod or something else about a thread possibly being pinned. The worst that can happen is the staff giving a 'no', with a reason why. Everyone goes home and continues having fun at the end of the day.
  3. NavelColt's post in Why do I get so many notifications? was marked as the answer
Approved? There were numerous replies to your topic, which all got built up, and then approved at once. That may be what you're referring to.
  4. NavelColt's post in What are the Character Archives For? was marked as the answer
They're never going to be removed, really. Not everyone on that list will recreate them in the database due to either not being online anymore, or never getting around to it. I put a very clear message in the forum description:

  5. NavelColt's post in Site Question: Why was Speedy Transitions Banned? was marked as the answer
Sure you are There's no rule against asking questions or being curious. But, as you've also mentioned, there is a lot of privacy in these issues that we try and uphold to the best of our ability. The staff aren't obligated to fill people in on the details, even if you ask privately in a support ticket. At the end of the day, people are banned because they caused some amount of rule breaking, or other disruptive presence on the site whether rapidly, or as a noticeable pile-up over the long term. Since they aren't coming back, there's really little point in discussing it. I'd personally recommend contacting a friend of the person and asking them, one on one, if you truly need to know.
  6. NavelColt's post in Are Creepypastas Considered NSFW? was marked as the answer
We do ban those links All of those examples contain inane amounts of gore and grotesque themes, and have always been hidden, and NSFW warnings handed out for posting direct links to them. Discussion of them is fine, but direct links are not. While creepypastas in of themselves are fine, their content matter is very subjectable. As 92 said, it's a case-by-case basis. If you have a creepypasta that contains gore or high levels of violence and slurs, that shouldn't be here. If you have a creepypasta that's just creepy, and doesn't contain tons of gore or anything else that would sit with NSFW, then that'd probably be okay.

Because of the subjection, I'd encourage you to create a Support Ticket and ask the administration for when you find something you'd like to post. That's one of the things Support Tickets are specifically for, in fact When creating a new topic in this section, you'll notice the following:

  7. NavelColt's post in How do I delete my account? was marked as the answer
Nice posts once again, Twi :3 However, we don't hand out bans for this either, actually. If you want to leave, you can simply stop being active Rather old school, but it works fine. We're more than happy to aid someone who is leaving in removing any blogs or posts that contain any amount of personal information, but bans are not given out to folks who want to leave, in much the same way we don't delete accounts. It's simply the choice of the administration, and always has been as far as I know. Conservative perhaps, but it has plenty of benefits.

I'm going to be making an FAQ entry regarding account deletion/ban requests now, actually. It'd be very useful. One of those things I'm not sure why it doesn't exist, yet.

    EDIT: It's done! > http://mlpforums.com/page/faq/_/moderation/i-dont-want-my-account-anymore-can-i-have-it-banned-or-removed-r79

So, OP, if you know of any posts or content of yours that is of a personal nature, feel free to make a Support Ticket and we can help in removing those. Bans and deletions aren't something we're comfortable in doing however. Sorrz :c
  8. NavelColt's post in Lowering the Character Count for Posts was marked as the answer
Nope. The character minimum is non-optional. That said, we've invested in improvements that should be coming soon, which will allow people to make shorter posts in moderation along with longer posts. These changes have gotten delayed due to things breaking unexpectedly, but they shall come.
  9. NavelColt's post in Pages not loading unless refreshed was marked as the answer
Is this still happening? If not, then this was probably during one of those times where our hosty provider thingie, (otherwise known as CloudFlare) was having a derp moment with their servers being clogged. Happens from time to time. And, the thing with CloudFlare being screwy is, some get affected one day because they use such and such server host on so and so IP address, and then the next day they're fine, but then someone else is having those problems.

I know a week ago I had this issue as well. Went to a new page, it wouldn't load, then I refresh once or twice *usually once* and it then loaded fine.
  10. NavelColt's post in trolls on equestria.tv was marked as the answer
Keep in mind that EQTV is still under development, it is by no means 'done', yet. Improvements to all sorts of features are coming at some point or another. If you contact the moderators themselves through PM and explain the situation, they should be more than capable of helping out
  11. NavelColt's post in What Are The Optimal Dimensions For A Profile Background? was marked as the answer
Using the search feature, I've found this topic, in where Feld0 explains things fairly well. Here's the quote:

I'm actually going to be adding this to the FAQ; it's a common question, and there's nothing in there about profile backgrounds so far
  12. NavelColt's post in Quoting Issues. was marked as the answer
This all sounds more along the lines of a buggish sort of glitchy thing that could potentially be examined by the techies, or fixed by IPS in a future update. That said, I think it might be a good idea for you to create a technical Support Ticket for this, and with some patience, we'll be able to find out if anything about the quoting issues you're experiencing can be recreated and if so, sought after for a future solution :3
  13. NavelColt's post in Does post count increase in the roleplay section? was marked as the answer
Posts used to count in the RP section, but haven't for a while. It's mentioned on Feld0's introduction announcement, and you can find the Canterlot announcement for it, here. It's been switched back and forth a few times but, just as we're not particularly willing to bring back a chat room, we're not really interested in having them count, again.
  14. NavelColt's post in Where is the minecraft server? was marked as the answer
Even what Dawn said is slightly redundant. We plan on bringing the server back someday, anyway. We simply need to grow Poniverse large enough, to a point where game servers can sustain themselves, and don't need to be tacked on as a subforum event in a forum environment, like what it was, here. In the end, patience is all that will be required :3
  15. NavelColt's post in How do i make music play on my profile automatically when someone goes on it ? was marked as the answer
Not exactly. You can embed players through sites like Soundcloud, the issue is, IPS updates infrequently remove this feature, and it has to be re-added. If the person adds the URL from a Soundcloud song to their profile, it should embed automatically. If not, then OP, make a technical support ticket bringing up that this needs fixing yet again.
  16. NavelColt's post in Why can't post count increase in Cloudsdale Collossium? was marked as the answer
Cloudsdale is the place for spam, short posts and silliness. An entire section of Cloudsdale is Forum Games, which are just about the spammiest thing a forum can possess. Posts do not count in that section because there's no effort, at all, required for making topics and posts there Unlike all other forum sections where there's either artwork to discuss or discussion to be had. It wouldn't be fair if people could just sit in Cloudsdale all day and make fifty billion nonsensical posts, to raise their post count without effort.
  17. NavelColt's post in Selling of Collaboation Pieces? was marked as the answer
Heya :3 I've moved your post into its' own support topic, as posting a question in someone's commission topic doesn't really belong there more than it would in the forums' official help section. That said, I actually believe this may be a good question for a Support Ticket, seeing as its' dealing with the Commissions section and thus money. Feld0 himself deals with the Commission section mostly, as it directly interacts with the forums' donations as well from commission sales. If you create a Support Ticket, we'll be right with you!

  18. NavelColt's post in Automated Messages was marked as the answer
This is really rather unavoidable when a forum becomes so pathetically big that reports and problems flock in by the dozen, each day, I'm afraid. Especially when the same exact problems happen over and over again, what the moderator would be taking that 60 seconds to type would be redundant over and over again on each issue, which would result in very similar messages with little to no personalization, either. We don't implement multi-mods from laziness, but rather for those moderation actions that happen -a lot-, such as moving things from one section to another that are high traffic (Show Discussion --> Sugarcube is common) or locking things for specific reasons. That way, the things that aren't quite as common, such as mergings, can receive fully customized responses.

I'm sorry if you're seeing it as cold, rude or uncaring, but it's really helpful for the staff to keep on top of things so that the forums can remain as clean as possible, whilst staff don't burn out from repetition of typing out the same thing over and over again fifty times a day I assure you, we do not just add multi mods for all moderator actions. They're only for actions that are so incredibly common that it's directly beneficial to saving everyone vast amounts of time in the long run.
  19. NavelColt's post in I forgot how to change my avatar text was marked as the answer
Unfortunately, you're no longer capable of doing so :3 Avatar text, as you call it, is known as a Member Title. Member Titles are only editable by staff, and people who donate money to the site for its' upkeep (Donors/Subscribers, aka folks with golden usernames). For almost two weeks we had the rare opportunity for every member on the forum to have donor status, due to a prize from a charity drive we had quite some time ago. However, that has since ended, and everyone is back to normal.

I'm afraid if you'd like to edit your title again, you'll have to donate.
  20. NavelColt's post in Can't access Life Advice forum was marked as the answer
Refer to this post of mine I've made in another topic made about this issue :3

  21. NavelColt's post in Why Can't I Go To The Life Advice Section? was marked as the answer
Not quite, Dawn x3 Well, yes, but since we've received approximately fourteen billion support tickets about this already, I'm going to throw it out here since I've got the opportunity. This is a bug that we're both aware of and are working on. Key has little to no understanding of why Life Advice's lowered minimum isn't working, so he's consulting IPS about it, so who knows when we'll get it resolved. In the meantime, I believe that it will let you in at the old minimum of 40 posts. You'll just have to be patient and accumulate that many until this issue gets fixed.
  22. NavelColt's post in Avatar not updating in "Who's Online" was marked as the answer
Cache and technical reasons. Profile backgrounds sometimes take a while to update, so too do avatars on that little board. I don't believe it's big enough a deal for Key to spend his valuable time trying to look into at the moment, so as previously stated I recommend you simply ignore it for now xP We are aware of it though, so it's not unknown to us.
  23. NavelColt's post in Non-Pony Artwork Problem? was marked as the answer
Firstly, moved to the help board. Keep in mind that questions don't belong in the feedback section :3

Yup, I can tell you exactly why those don't work. They're prefixes. Prefixes are a type of tag that an entire group of topics get, to differentiate them from other topics. They're an alternative to making subforums, as they differentiate topics, inside a forum. They're colored, and you'll find them in Media Discussion as well. They may also be used in future forums. Unfortunately, our tag search system has been busted for a long, long time (I'm not even sure if it's ever worked to start with xP). If you go into any given topic, and click one of the small tags underneath the thread title, you'll find those also go to a 'No results found' page. Same problem. The search system refuses to work when you're trying to search by prefix or tag, and this is a known bug that simply hasn't been fixable yet.

I cover much of this issue in this topic. Key has it on his list of things to do when the forum gets a coding rewrite in the not so distant future. At that point, a lot of things we can't fix in today's age, we should be able to fix then, once everything is written in simpler coding language that both Key and Feld0 fully understand. At that point, searching via prefixes and tags should work again.
  24. NavelColt's post in Well, that was rather intimidating. was marked as the answer
To be honest, most legal contracts are blunt and stick out on purpose; our ToS tries to accomplish that same stance, because in a lot of ways it's as equally important. It's not to intimidate people, it's to make sure everyone, both the folks who are going to walk around the forums and never cause trouble, ever, and the folks who will end up causing issues, ends up reading it and taking it seriously. You'd be incredibly surprised how aloof some people are, and how they don't notice things. The great thing about the ToS is that the staff are capable of forcing people who have been blatantly disregarding rules to read that page over again before they can continue posting. Again, not to be totalitarians or to frighten anyone. We've been growing at an alarming rate and with future projects coming up, only continue to do more so, so we've become very professional and business-like in many regards.

That said, I'm sure some specific wording suggestions could be done. We're certainly not a police state (you have no idea how many migraines the administration goes through to try and help raging members get their needs met, in order to help demonstrate that very point). Some things might come off as a bit intense to you, but honestly, if you stick around and spend more time us, I'm sure you'll begin to see that while, yes, we do have lots of walls of text where it's appropriate to help everyone understand things; be it rules, FAQ entries to explain things or specific staff replying in-depth to someone's issues, you'll also find this staff team is professional, friendly, and more than willing to listen to each and every person's concern and have it met :3

The greatest system is one that is not only friendly and approachable, but is also efficient and crystal clear. That's the only mission we've ever tried to accomplish.
  25. NavelColt's post in How do you get a thread locked? was marked as the answer
Reporting your own posts is just as acceptable as reporting posts of others, however, the staff aren't going to remove content for you unless your reason for deletion is fairly legit xP 'I don't like it anymore' doesn't sound like the best reason in the universe. I'd report your post and give the best explanation you can give, and the mods will make their decision based on that.
