  1. Hm, I'd say she doesn't look bad at all! Especially for your first time drawing anthro. I'd say my only critiques would be the tail is a little short, but otherwise I think it's good. The face looks...a little off, I suppose, but I can't really describe what would be changed about it so I think it's good.
  2. I went to sleep at about 1 AM. What's your favourite dessert?
  3. The first image is for Lazuli. Something like that, with the wide-brimmed hat and black dress/cloak. Second image is also for Lazuli, for the pose. Lazuli's figure is slim, her waist isn't tiny but it's smaller than her hips. Third image is a reference for Ayize's pose if you choose to do her. Fourth one is for her clothes, just a vest and plain pants. The glove would only be on her left hand though, if the left is even in frame. Again, thank you for considering it, and of course you can choose which one you want to do. If this is too much I understand.
  4. Hey! You've drawn my character once before, but I was wondering if you might be willing to dry anthropomorphizing one. Either Lazuli (The white and blue Dracony) or Ayize (the zebra with a cybernetic right arm). I understand if you can't make them anthro from a feral reference page, totally get that. If you can or want to try though, I'd be really appreciative! Doesn't have to be a full body shot either, but ideas for poses: Lazuli: Standing proud, hands at her sides, or with her hands up in a fighting position. Ayize: Standing with her (metal) fist clenched, or just straight with her hands at her hips. I understand, again, if you can't do it. But thanks for looking at my request anyway!
  5. The "let's stop talking about race and that will make all race problems go away" line is universally the "I don't want to talk about issues regarding race because they make me uncomfortable". In an industry like Hollywood where black people and people of colour are underrepresented, it's impossible to not make it a race issue. People, for some reason, have this obsession with taking things away from people when they have a reason to enjoy it, like what you're doing here. Black people finally see themselves represented on the big screen in a HUGE blockbuster movie? "You're just being racist". Also that clip with Morgan Freeman, and a lot of things that he has to say about black people, white privilege, etc. Is what we call "survivorship bias". One who makes it through hardships or simply never has any simply assumes that it's the same for everyone. I would keep going but it's pretty clear this thread is just a circlejerk for people who are angry that PoC are actually happy about something for once, so I'm just going to stop.
  6. For black people and other people of colour like me, it's representation that's sorely needed. I'm guessing that 90% of the people in this thread are white or not black at the very least, and therefore can't really understand how it feels to actually have a big, major blockbuster (one that becomes one of the top grossing films of all time) that actually represents us. Yes there have been plenty of movies including PoC in them, even casts that are primarily PoC, but this movie is by far the highest grossing, the most popular, and one to put black people and PoC in a very positive light. So people can say it's "progressive bullshit" or whatever, but I don't think it matters for those it represents.
  7. "Worried it will hurt the sales of the movie" Black Panther is currently the 10th highest grossing movie of ALL TIME. Just saying. I know this post is months old but it's fun to look back on things like this and see how wrong people are sometimes.
  8. Well, here's my take on it, as a woman who plays a lot of games. I think that many games' representation is inherently sexist, though this might not be intentional. Notice I said many, not all. The problem isn't as simple as sexualised armour or revealing outfits, though. It's the fact that established female characters in many video games are treated like sex objects. In many games, even when women are put in the spotlight for action scenes or something like that, they're sexualised. Their movements are super 'sexy' and fluid to make them look beautiful. Is it a bad thing to look beautiful? No. But when you then have your male characters just slugging people with punches or gunning people down (not shirtless or naked, of course) with just pure power and efficiency in mind, it makes women's action scenes or just movements in general look exaggerated. There's also the whole 'romance' thing in a lot of games. Chances are if the protagonist is male, you'll have some kind of love interest. This isn't always the case, of course, but it is common. And usually, even if that love interest is a badass in her own right, she usually ends up needing to be 'saved' by the hero, and then immediately starts falling in love. This is becoming less common, but it's still prevalent. The other thing is that many female characters are exaggerated simply in their appearances. I'm not saying that men aren't - I'm honestly tired of every male protagonist being this buff muscular dude without an inch of 'give' to him at all. However, you can't deny that in many video games, women's bodies are just...completely unrealistic. Big chest, wide hips, slim middle, to an extent that most women can't even achieve with tons of working out. I could go on. I might also add that the solution to heavily sexualised female characters is not sexualisation of male characters. Honestly, unless the game is about fucking people, you shouldn't be objectifying anyone. I'll use Dark Souls as an example. Male or female, most of the time, the armour you wear doesn't conform to stretch around a woman's tits. It just fits and protects like armour. And whether you think the whole 'bikini armour' thing is offensive or not (I certainly do, I hate that scanty and barely protective armour is 10x better than armour that actually covers your body), you have to admit that it's unfair to women to give them this horribly sexualised armour and depiction of the female body and then complain when they say it isn't fair. The argument of "It's a fantasy, it doesn't have to be realistic" is bogus, because you shouldn't be forced to wear a crappy skin-tight suit or a revealing bikini that somehow has better defense than actual armour. And I know you aren't actually forced, but if it has better stats, what are you meant to do? I just personally find it a bit insulting when men see women's complaints about video games and say to 'get over it' or 'it isn't sexist because WE like it'. If women don't like it, if the actual gender being objectified thinks it's offensive, then that's what should matter. It's easy to say that you want men to be sexualised as well, but what if you had a female protagonist that went around kicking ass while she saves defenseless, shirtless men from harm and makes them fall in love with her? I'm exaggerating, but I don't think you'd be very happy. So there is a problem, and whether you think the fix is to sexualise both genders or neither of them, you have to admit there is a problem and that it needs to be fixed somehow.
  9. @Raven Rawne I hope you don't mind my (pathetic) attempt to throw some colour onto it. Lemme know what you think, if you want that is.
  10. Oh wow @Raven Rawne I absolutely love it! You did a great job, thanks so much!
  11. Oh well. The game's fun to play, gameplay's fun and I have fun playing it with friends, so I really don't care if it's a big success. Work was put into it, they came out with a good product. I don't judge games based on success, but it almost seems like this thread is acting like because the game wasn't/isn't successful it isn't good.
  12. I don't know why the formatting turned out like this, but I can't get rid of those random letters. If you'd like to read more about Lazuli and her story, I'd point you to these: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/393376/the-dulling-of-a-blade https://www.fimfiction.net/story/394092/coagulation (Direct sequel) And if you'd like to learn about Draconies and the general world in which her story takes place, I've compiled a document of notes about Bellephron, Draconies and the world as a whole. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Pr3v4xx71ohfeMg3Qb6gSD2WZNmuUAdNCF-HOa23To4/edit
  13. I didn't watch a lot of them, so I guess I have to say uh...Jimmy Neutron? I think that was a Nickelodeon one. What's your favourite ice cream flavour?
  14. I'd uh Probably run because it looks poisonous.
  15. For sure, I understand! If it's easier, back-to-back is fine, just tossing ideas that would look nice.
  16. Well the pardon is of course a factor, but I was looking at it from a lawful point of view.
  17. Well my OC is a lawyer, and I've always imagined courts do exist. When it comes to Starlight, I think it's more a case of...she ran away without getting caught, came back, caused major trouble, but then she apologized to the ponies she had directly wronged and they forgave her, so it's not like you can really press charges when the ponies who have been directly harmed by her are fine with it, and the other things she's done are basically unprovable because they involved messing with TIME.
  18. Yeah, I was thinking more of a back-to-back or an x-shape. The x would probably look better, I think.
  19. Another of my OCs, Dusk Rider/Lazuli Cutter. She's a Dracony hailing from the land of Bellephron, a land fully inhabited by Draconies like her that sits far to the West of Equestria.

When she was younger she had to flee, and became an assassin. You can read about her in my FiMFiction works here:

  20. My personal ponysona, Bail Bonds. She's a friendly lawyer pegasus who mostly just wants to serve justice.

Figured I should share. Art by http://guywithamp.tumblr.com/

I love the name! Very clever.

  21. Hey there, if you're still taking requests would you consider drawing my edgy Dracony? @Raven Rawne A headshot or a partial body shot both sound fine, though I would prefer a headshot. She can be drawn with or without the suit, and I'd like if it could be a sort of sideways shot of her head. Okay maybe that's a little too specific, honestly it's totally up to you how you want to draw her, that would just be my personal preference. I would also request that she be sort of crossed over Tempest/Fizzlepop from the MLP movie, since in my canon the two of them are friends, but if you prefer to only draw one character at a time that's perfectly fine of course. I hope I don't sound too pushy or anything!
