I installed a 5 1/4" floppy drive in my gaming pc a few years ago just for fun. It still works and I'm running Windows 10.
I remember using 3 1/2" floppies a lot when I was in elementary school and even up to middle school before usb flash drives started coming down in price. Still have that 256mB flash drive, too.

Just had a look though my "graveyard" - I don't have any 5¼" drives, but I do have an entire box of 5¼" media.
Some are formatted for pc - Dos 2.1 boot disks, some classic TSR apps like Lettrix, and foreground apps like Wordstar. Some are formatted for other systems - such as the Apple ][e or the Acorn "BBC Micro".
Wouldn't want to put any bets on any being still readable though, after decades in a box.
Also have a system with a 3½" drive actually installed, that isn't a PC - its a Sun Ultra-10 sparc system running solaris 9 (allegedly; won't have been booted in a decade or so
)
Need to check the PSU in my older tower system to see if it has a FDD power plug - as it does have a 3½" case slot, so maybe....
