@PawelS They are making a two-eyed, tri-horned, flying, beige pony eater.

@Samurai Equine I think it's been done.

@PawelS Now, that’s a tricky one!

My thoughts are with Ukraine now.

@Nsxile @RDDash Please don't turn this into a political debate, I don't think it's a good place to do it. This is my last answer here, and I would appreciate if you don't continue it.
Joining NATO is the best guarantee of safety, countries that did it weren't attacked by Russia (or anyone else) so far, and hopefully this will never happen (I'm personally interested in it, because I live in one of these countries). Unfortunately Ukraine wasted some time and didn't manage to do it soon enough to avoid the Russian aggression. So now they had two options: to agree to Russia's demands, which would ultimately lead to becoming an oppressive regime controlled by Russia like Belarus, or to fight. They chose to fight, and I have great respect for them for doing so. Freedom has no price.
Also, I don't want a nuclear war, but agreeing to demands of a country that threatens to use nuclear weapons is not a good thing either. Perhaps it would be best for Ukraine if they decided to keep their nuclear weapons, instead of getting rid of them and getting guarantees of their territorial integrity in return, which Russia broke.
So how will it all end? I don't know, but I hope someday the situation will change, and Russia will become a peaceful country, which will make the world a better place.

That's actually a good point. Are the Equestria Girls characters the same age as their pony counterparts?
- Show previous comments 5 more
-
@Samurai Equine @lyrabetes3939 They can still be the same age if you assume ponies grow up and become independent from their parents earlier than humans. As for Celestia and Luna, it is possible that their EqG versions are more than meets the eye...
-
@PawelS I don't think the writers put that much thought into it. The TV show's primary target demographic was little girls. They probably wouldn't pick up on little details like how the mane cast live like adults because they are horses. Everything about them and their world is pure fantasy. Things change when you have human characters. Kids notices details just a bit more. If they still want to attract that little girl audience, making their human counterparts teenagers was as old as they were willing to go. Young enough to still make into Barbie doll knock-offs and do girly things with the toys.
I don't fully understand the logic or lack-there-of, but little kids don't always look up to fictional children. They can often be annoying, almost like holding a mirror to kids in the worst way possible. They admire older characters because of the freedoms and privileges they have, but at the same time, there are plenty of kids who think adults are out of touch or "just don't understand". Teenage years tend to be the sweet spot. Young enough to still be relatable and attainable in a few years, old enough to have more freedoms and liberties, but still not quite an adult yet.

One of the great unanswered questions of the Universe:
Why do English speaking people pronounce "Einstein" wrong?
- Show previous comments 5 more
-
@Samurai Firefighter It's not like this in all languages though. If it was a Polish word, it wouldn't have the 'sh' sound either, but we still use the correct German pronunciation here.
-
You're not wrong, definitely not arguing against you. That's why English is a hot mess (I'm of course talking only from my experience with American English). We have our rules of grammar, spelling, and pronunciation. However, we don't always follow them. In many cases, we definitely keep the original spelling of foreign words and we keep (or try to keep) the original pronunciation. But it's inconsistent because you never know what word is going to match its origins, and which one has been westernized to be spelled and/or pronounced differently.
The name Einstein is a perfect example. There are TONS of people who have no idea that Einstein is German-born. With America being a big cultural melting pot, there are people who don't think twice about his name nor wonder if we're saying it correctly. They just known him as a historically iconic genius. But hey, maybe Albert wouldn't care how we pronounce it. As long as we're interested in science.

@Splashee Actually it didn't require any art skills to do it, I just googled a Santa hat image with transparent background, then resized it and pasted into the picture.

One of many problems I have with Polish commercials:
The name "Whirlpool" is never pronounced correctly.
- Show previous comments 4 more
-
@North Star They get the 'w(h)' part and the 'pool' part right, it's everything in-between that's pronounced wrong.
And yes, that ad is a good one, too bad that cellular network no longer exists (was taken over by T-Mobile).
@Samurai Equine It's confusing indeed, my favorite example are the words that have their negation pronounced differently, like famous/infamous or finite/infinite.
-
@Silly Druidflammable inflammable too yeah that is nuts
I came across a good one: bomb, tomb, comb are all pronounced differently
(the Universal Language shorts on youtube are great for this https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=universal+language+shorts+youtube+comb )
@Samurai Equinewell, there's not many silent 'H's' in English - the only time we have that is when we're deliberately using the French sounding word, I thought, like homage and prolly a few others. The reverse would be the French people using the hard H for helicopter and such I guess. I go for silent h homage when I'm saying "It's an homage" and the hard H when I'm saying "He gave homage".
-
"Infamous" isn't really the opposite of "famous", rather famous in a negative way. Though a lot of people just seem to use it to mean famous these days.
Besides "inflammable", I remember finding "valuable" and "invaluable" confusing – they sound like opposites, but they essentially mean the same. And "pricey" and "priceless" too.

If you ever wondered about the Equestrian laws:
(Source: Elements of Justice Discord server)

But if the laws aren't royal decrees, wouldn't that mean nopony has to obey them?
-
@Samurai Equine That's a good philosophical question. Why does anyone have to obey any laws? Because they say so? I think it all comes down to who has the ability to enforce them.
-
According to your logic, if any creature was stronger or more powerful than the alicorns or the Elements of Harmony, they wouldn't have to.

I'm going to start a D&D campaign. I want to try my skills at being a DM, hopefully I won't be terrible at it. Vote in the poll below if you want to apply.
The setting is ancient Equestria, you will participate in all the freaky stuff that happened 1000 years before Friendship is Magic. I must warn you that I'm going to include some of my crazy theories and headcanons in it.
I'll use the roll20 website and Discord voice chat. The time span in the poll is divided into 1-hour periods, but one session will be longer (possibly 4 hours). Sessions will happen every week, please vote for all times when you're usually available.

@Thankful Brony 42 Thanks, let me know when you have more thoughts about it. As for D&D, I was going to use this: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Little_Pony_(5e_Race) to add the pony races to the game, without any substantial changes to the rest of the system. One of my friends started a campaign using these rules, so I was going to do the same.
