This is something about the Season 10 comics that has been bugging me for a while now, so I decided to put this out here

In regards to the various ‘teams’ discovering Trees of Harmony in the lands beyond Equestria, I've noticed this strange pattern.

In Applejack’s, Rarity’s and Fluttershy+Pinkie’s case, the native, indigenous folk of Farasi, Abyssinia and Caninia were unaware of the existence of their own Trees of Harmony. And the Mane 6 (well, in this case, four of them) only guessed which element might belong to which creature. They arbitrarily assigned them the Elements they were familiar with (Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Loyalty and Magic).

It never crossed their minds that the elements of other lands might stand for something else entirely – and why should it? The Elements worked, after all. So no such question was raised. Note that in all these cases, there’s one common factor – no creature knew the history behind or the origins of the Trees.

Then we come across something strange in Rainbow Dash’s “Tree of Harmony” arc. The Ornithians knew the origins of their Tree. And they even had a name for theirs - the Tree of Love. And – this is the important part – only two of their Elements of Love shared the same values as Equestria’s…Tree of “Friendship” (let’s call it that): Generosity and Kindness.

• King Thaumas - protection
• Queen Ozomene - generosity
• Prince Aello - kindness
• Zephyra - trust
• Ocypete - hope
• Captain Celaeno - perseverance

Ocypete’s Element of Hope is the only exception, as it mirrors one of Equestria’s older Elements (which has evolved to stand for “laughter” in the modern era. The rest of Ornithia’s  Element of Love are unique, and all closely associated with the concept of “love”.

The only other species, besides the Ornithians who had any knowledge of the Trees (or rather, 5 of them) are the Cunabulans, the Knights of Order (formerly, Knights of Harmony). Their Tree stood for Patriotism, and the Elements (kinda) reflected that. Take a look:

• Danu - loyalty
• Ceridwen - equity
• Taranis - pride
• Mannah - acceptance
• Balor - magic
• Morrigan - faith

Again, notice the strange pattern? Two of the Elements of Patriotism are same as two of Equestria’s Tree of “Friendship”: Loyalty and Magic.

We never get any information on the other Trees. There’s nothing to confirm that the Trees of History, Family and Purpose actually are exact copies of the Tree of Friendship. We only have four of the Mane Six’s guesses, which somehow, miraculously worked. Which makes me wonder…

Shouldn’t the Trees of History, Family and Purpose each possess their own unique set of elements that are associated with the concept of Harmony they stand for? Maybe they may share a couple of similar Elements with Equestria, but surely not all of them? And what if the reason they worked was because…the values these elements represent are analogous to Equestria’s Elements of Friendship?

I made some calculations. Considering there are 6 Elements of Friendship, and if we are to group them in pairs for each Tree, there are 15 possible combinations:

(H,G), (H,K), (H,La), (H,Lo), (H,M)

(G,K), (G,La), (G,Lo), (G,M)

(K,La), (K,Lo), (K,M)

(La,Lo), (La,M)

(Lo,M)

Of these, (G,K) & (Lo,M) have already been taken by the Trees of Love and Patriotism respectively. So assuming no repetitions can occur, we have 13 pairs of Elements to go around for the three other Trees.

What do you guys think? Any headcanons as to what those Elements could stand for? Would really love you tguys' thoughts on this!

Of course community interaction is important! And I seriously doubt you've lost your fans - remember Covid took its tool on all of us. Building up the fanbase and hype again wouldn't be too difficult, with proper advertising and such. And a Discord server dedicated to EqT is an amazing idea!

Man, I'm BEYOND HYPED!!! And spoilers? Pffft. I adore spoilers! I belong to the rare species of humans who goes around sniffing for spoilers and leaks in every nook and cranny one can find! I'd be beyond honoured and would love to see whatever you are comfortable revealing. Also, I would like to help any way I can, to the best of my ability.

Dude, don't apologize. The fact that you've come this far just shows how dedicated you are, and speaks volumes about the quality of EqT, which, I am super-sure, would be top-notch! I just hope you don't give up on EqT after all these years. From what little I've gathered from all the messages from other people here (and Minty's animation, of course!), you guys have put your heart and soul into the project, and I can guarantee fans all over the world (and probably other worlds) would love to see equestrian Tales in all its glory (regardless of whether it's released in awritten or animated format).

Sorry for our absents, covid hit our team and our spirits hard, but we are far from done yet. The characters of Dusk and Dawn (the alicorn parents to Luna and Celestia) are in fact main players in the story of Eqt, its taken some time but things are back in motion. But! I'm so happy to hear that you and your team are still so persistent, despite everything you've had to go through. Even if you aren't able to animate the whole thing 9which, by the way, is completely understandable, given the circumstances), I'm certain that we'll definitely enjoy the story/screenplay - whatever format you choose to release it in!

Looking forward to those updates you mentioned!

Keep at it! I hope Project "Equestria Tales" sees the light of day soon! (however long it takes!)

Even if this Generation ends up bad, at least I've been able to have so much fun reading all the updates on it, and even speculating what it will be like .

From the character's, to the locations, to the annual, and even in the merch, there is a lot of info to fuel my speculations. For instance, Zephyr Heights, Queen Haven, and her daughters all make me think that pegasi will have a very grand kingdom, and the Izzy toy makes me think that there will be a whole scene where the characters disguise themselves as unicorns so they can fit in while in the Bridlewood forest. I'm eager to see what the next info drop will be.

Let's hope it doesn't end up being bad! The movie at least seems promising!

Welp, I don’t even know where to start. For a while it seemed as though we were never getting any updates regarding the G5 movie – then suddenly, the past couple of weeks have been nothing but updates! So much information has popped up - from G5 merchandise to VA reveals – I’ve barely been able to keep up.

I planned to make a timeline of sorts, but with the amount of stuff I’d have to cover, most of which contain the same information, it’d be an unnecessarily lengthy post. And besides, such a thing already exists. Here. Just scroll down the posts – the older the news, the further down you’ll need to scroll. Also, if anyone’s interested in a timeline of the appearance of MLP G5 merch, Overcast has got that covered. Just take a look at this superbly detailed spreadsheet!

So instead I’m going to compile all the info we have and categorize them in into 4 sections:

• The Title
• Cast and Crew
• The Characters
• New Locations

THE TITLE

On May 18, 2021, the Netflix Malaysia’s Twitter page posted a listing of titles for releases later this year. One of those was My Little Pony: Pony Tale. This seemed like a weird choice, because a previous generation of My Little Pony was so similarly titled.  The reaction to this title was…lukewarm. Some disliked it immensely, others were indifferent towards it, yet others maintained that it was probably just a region specific title for Southeast Asia.

As some fans noted, this ‘title’ diverged quite a bit from the book title we got some time back: “My Little Pony: A New Adventure.

Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait too long to know the actual title of the movie. On May 28, 2021, Boulder Media's own website, the folks behind the animation of the movie announced the official title of the MLP G5 movie - My Little Pony: A New Generation.

 

CAST & CREW

THE DIRECTORS & PRODUCERS

On February 24, 2021, Entertainment Tonight announced that Rob Cullen (Transformers: Cyberverse, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera) and Jose Ucha (Bernard, Invizimals) directed the MLP G5 movie with Mark Fattibene; and that Cecil Kramer and Peter Lewis had produced it.

In an interview with Animation Magazine, Cullen remarked: 

“We wanted to make the movie accessible to people who probably aren’t familiar with the world of My Little Pony. And we’re also paying respects and homage to the older films and TV shows. We want fans to appreciate it and see it and for the comedy to be effective. There are Easter eggs in the movie as well for fans. But we definitely kept the DNA of ‘Friendship Is Magic.’ It’s still there in the presence of the main ponies in the movie as they go through the story. So, it was kind of a balancing act.” 

 

THE MUSIC

On June 27, 2021, thanks to our fandom’s sleuthing skills, it was discovered that a musician named Alan Schmuckler had listed up on his website the upcoming My Little Pony G5 Movie on Netflix as a project he both worked the lyrics and music for, along with another musician called Micheal Maher.

“We knew that we wanted to have an eclectic range of genres in the songs,” says Cullen. “We wanted to mix things up a bit and set out to make this as unpredictable as we can because some people might go into the movie with preconceived ideas. No one would expect a punk rock, Nirvana-esque song in this movie. We were so lucky because we have two fantastic songwriters, Michael Mahler and Alan Schmuckler. We just loved their lyrics, and they came in with brilliant, super catchy, airborne songs.”

 A piece of ‘Pipp Petals’ merch mentioned the title of one of the songs as Glowin' Up which Canadian songwriter Jenna Andrews later confirmed she'd composed. Jenna Andrews is a big name in the pop scene with credits with BTS and Noah Cyrus to name a few, and the song she wrote for Pipp is definitely…ahem, very much "pop"-styled, maybe overly so. 

Barely four days later, Equestria Daily reported that a fan called 'Horizon Spark Sunrize' had got their hands on a talking plush of Izzy which sings a snippet of a song called Fit Right In from the movie. They posted the video to their Instagram channel.

The full song Glowin’ Up (performed by Sofia Carson) was uploaded to the official My Little Pony YouTube channel on September 2nd. 

A snippet of the song Gonna Be My Day can be heard on Sunny Starscout's new "Sing and Skate" toy that was released on September 9th.

Over on another video website, the full Korean version of Izzy’s song Fit Right In was released on the 15th of September. The trailer song It’s Alright was uploaded by the singer Johnny Orlando to his YouTube channel on September 17th.

The full song Gonna Be My Day was uploaded to the official My Little Pony channel on the 20th of September.

The complete soundtrack for the movie was released on the 23rd of September. Following is the list of songs included in the OST:

THE VOICE CAST

Way back in April 2020, Tara Strong announced in one of her Instagram live streams that she won’t be reprising her role as Twilight Sparkle in G5. More recently, in an MLP Voice Actor Q&A session hosted by Gabriel C. Brown aka Black Gryph0n on his YouTube channel on 29 May, 2021, Kelly Sheridan (who voiced Starlight Glimmer, Sassy Saddles, Misty Fly, Indigo Zap and a  bunch of other bits and bobs in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) went on record saying that none of the voice work for MLP G5 was being done in Vancouver, B.C. (where all of MLP: FiM was recorded).

Around 28 June, 2021, speculations about the High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens being involved in G5 popped up on Reddit when someone dug up this post from the actress’s Instagram profile.

On 30 June, 2021, Netflix finally announced the voice cast for the MLP G5 movie, along with a short video (which I’ve already posted here), besides officially confirming the release date to be September 24, 2021. 

However, despite Tara’s and Kelly’s claims that none of the original cast members were returning, audiences who either a) saw the early screenings in theaters or b) had the special privilege of being invited to an early special screening reported that the OG Mane 6 – Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Rarity – make an extremely unexpected and surprising cameo appearance. The original VAs return to reprise their roles in a brief scene at the very beginning of the movie.

THE LOGO

Plus, we got our first look at the sleazy new official logo for G5!

What’s curious is that this logo looks nothing like the one that appeared on some MLP G5 merchandise on Taobao way back in January, 2021 despite using the same font style.

Whether or not the MLP G5 series keeps the new logo or switches to the 'merch' version remains to be seen.

 

THE WRITERS

Following the MLP G5 VA reveal, Gillian M. Berrow (who had previously written several episodes for Friendship is Magic and most of the officially licensed MLP: FiM chapter books) tweeted that she’d penned the script for the movie with Tim Sullivan. You can find their tweets here and here.

 

MOVIE RATING & RUN-TIME

According to the film rating website, My Little Pony: A New Generation has been given a PG rating, similar to the 2017 G4 My Little Pony movie, for some ‘thematic elements’. The runtime for this movie was confirmed to be exactly 90 minutes by Netflix.

MOVIE RELEASE DATE & TIME

We've known the date for the MLP G5 movie for quite a while now, but Netflix on July 17, 2021 announced the exact time of release. Tune in to watch the movie on Netflix on the 24th of September, 2021 at 07:00 AM UTC, which would be

• 08:00 AM in BST (London) or
• 11: 00 PM in PST  (North America)
• 12:00 AM in MST  (North America)
• 01:00 AM in CST (North America)
• 02:00 AM in EST (North America)

Just use this UTC Time Converter to figure out what time the movie releases for you. (It's 12:30 PM GMT +5:30 for me, at any rate!)

Some Russian cinemas held early screenings of My Little Pony: A New Generation on September 18th. The movie will also get a full-blown theatrical release on the 23rd of September in Russia on the 23rd of September. Besides Russia, early screenings were also held in Hong Kong and Singapore on the 19th of September. A special screening was also held in London on the 20th of September.

THE CHARACTERS

On the 1st of March, 2021, Hasbro filed trademarks for the following names: Princess Petals, Pipp Petals, Izzy Moonbow, Hitch Trailblazer and Sunny Starscout. This day marked the first time the full names of the mane cast of G5 characters were revealed officially.

Sunny, Izzy and Hitch were previously officially revealed at the Hasbro Investor Event that was held on February 25, 2021, following the infamous ‘bedsheet leak’ (still can’t get over the fact that G5 hype began with frickin’ bedsheets!)

A vague blurry picture of Zipp had already been spotted on some merch, although we didn’t have conformation at the time that that was the name - the leaks were all we had to go off of. A plushie of Zipp Storm later appeared on the Chinese Taobao website on April 2, 2021. But it wasn’t until April 9, 2021 that Hasbro officially revealed Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm to the world in all their fluffy glory!

So there you go. Say hello to the Star 5 (or Mane 5, whichever term you prefer)!

Besides the Star 5, we got our first look at some of the supporting cast members on some G5 merch (more specifically, a blindbag in advent calendar form) listed up on the A.B.Gee website, one of UK’s leading toy distributors.

While the names for some of these supporting characters wouldn’t be revealed till much later, we did get little tidbits of information about the main cast from the tons of merchandise that have popped up over the past couple of weeks. Let me list them down below.

Sunny Starscout

• Sunny lives in Maretime Bay.
• She owns a small business making smoothies.
• Her favourite hobby is roller-skating.
• A curious and courageous young Earth Pony, Sunny is an idealist determined to make the world a better place. Her tireless and sometimes hilarious efforts to spread the idea ofunity among all ponies led her to be considered strange by the townsfolk of Maretime Bay. But that doesn't stop Sunny from trying to bring friendship back to their fractured world.
• When Sunny was a young earth pony, her father Argyle Starshine told her stories about Ancient Equestria and Princess Twilight Sparkle who, with her friends taught everypony about the magic of friendship. They were the Guardians of Harmony.
• Sunny’s element is Hope.
• Quote: “We’ll do our part. Hoof to heart!
• Note:  There have been a couple of hints that Sunny may either temporarily gain Alicorn powers or permanently ascend to Alicorn-hood. Firstly, if you look at the video of the VA reveals, you’ll notice that her voice actress Vanessa Hudgens briefly skips across the screen in an Alicorn get-up, complete with wings and a horn (at the 0:45 mark). Also, a toy of Sunny listed on Hasbro’s website showed Sunny as an Alicorn, with a golden horn and yellow wings. The fact that the listing for said toy has since been taken down from the Hasbro website, and that Equestria Daily was asked to take down their post on the topic lends credence to the belief that that was something we were not supposed to see (or know), which means that Alicorn Sunny in the movie might be a definite possibility. • Edit: The rumour turned out to be true, after all!

 

Izzy Moonbow

• Izzy lives in the enchanted Bridlewood forest.
• In the calm forest of unicorns, Izzy can't help but stand out, not only with her sparkling horn, but also with her ingenuity and creativity. Her passion is to create beauty out of ordinary things.
• She is an energetic unicorn who and loves handicrafts (especially uni-cycling i.e. unicorn up-cycling) and taking care of woodland critters. She makes her own jewellery.
• Just like Sunny, she does not feel satisfied with the status quo and asks: “Is there something else beyond the familiar world?”
• She has the unique ability to read other ponies’ “luminescence” (or ‘sparkle’, as she calls it).
• Eternal optimism and enthusiasm sometimes makes Izzy feel a little lonely.
• When Sunny was a kid, she and her dad wrote a note addressed to unicorns and pegasi telling them they are welcome. They attach the note to a floating balloon and set it off which found its way to Bridlewood. It was this note that Izzy found and which prompted her to visit Maretime Bay in search of friends.
• Izzy's desire to find true friends leads her to Maritime Bay.
• Izzy’s element is Creativity.
• Quote: “We’re all in this together, right?”

 

Hitch Trailblazer

• Hitch is the caring sheriff of Maretime Bay.
• His favourite hobby is listening to music.
• Hitch and Sunny are foalhood friends. They played with Sprout when they were foals. 
• Hitch is a total critter magnet – they follow him wherever he goes!
• As sheriff of Maretime Bay, Hitch is a stickler for rules. He is driven by an incredible sense of duty and dedication, and he believes that the best way to keep everyone safe is to follow the rules.

• Her parkour skills are so insanely good that they they almost make up for her inability to fly.

• She doesn’t believe in magic or friendship between ponies.

• Her majesty lives with her daughters Pipp Perals and Zipp Storm in a luxurious and modern palace.

A Ravensburger Kinderpuzzle showed a picture of Maretime Bay in the background. Equestria Daily advertised said merch on the 23rd of May, 2021. A promo image for the MLP G5 movie included in a brand magazine also featured this location on the 8th of June, 2021.

Besides Maretime Bay, the Ravensburger Kinderpuzzle also featured a background of Bridlewood Forest. Home to the unicorns, Bridlewood glows with a gorgeous light from gemstones and bioluminescence.

That's a misconception. The comics are continuing well after #100 and #101 only marks the  end of the first arc of Season 10.

For my next project I am pushing things a bit further, featuring some of the characters from Equestrian Tales in it in some important roles. You can think of it as some sort of teaser for what to expect from it. My main concern is that since those projects are mostly my script and my own direction, they might feel a bit different from the final vision of the project, but I think it's a nice opportunity to experiment while we have the opportunity to experiment.

Obviously I also want these projects to be some nice fan animations on their own. Since there's always the fear the project could die due to factors out of our control, we would like to make the best out of it, have something to show we made something worthwhile in the end after all.

But it's my part, I'm not the director of Equestrian Tales. I'm simply one of the artists who want to make the best out of the project.

Well, we got @Minty Root's   animation last year on November 21, 2020 – another sign that this incredible and fantastic project is still alive!

 Hm...that is certainly a possibility, but personally, I think they'll go with a new logo for G5. They always redesign the logo every time they move on to a new generation.

Typically there's been a pendulum model for how masses react to various movements. Perhaps the division of races and species we're presented with from G5 is the result of it swinging in opposition to the "wokeness" that was brought about in G4.

Equestria has had a long standing position of isolationism and paranoia towards other species, and perhaps with reason given the readiness so many have expressed their willingness to go to war over such slight grievances, and the particular impact changeling invasions have wrought in the past.

Divisions in the pony races have persisted after all, notably through classism between Unicorns and Earth Ponies, and the Spartanesque inspirations for Pegasus society and their own degree of separation via cloud cities.

Unicorns have always been the most abled, Pegasus have air supremacy, and earth ponies hold the numerical advantage. They've all sought dominance in their own ways.

Despite how early on in the Fandom it wad written and the influence it took from the original franchise, Fallout Equestria I think showed one of the best and most accurate if potential extremes that could take place for Pegasus.

I'm most excited for the continued setting and world building opportunities.

An exclusive first-look at the 5th generation of the 'My Little Pony' Netflix movie was revealed by Entertainment Tonight in the late hours of Wednesday, the 24th of February. What's even more surprising than the reveal of the main character - Sunny Starscout - was how uncannily the synopsis matched the 4chan leaks!

“In the new movie, the pony world of Equestria has lost its magic. Friendship and Harmony have been replaced by paranoia and mistrust, and Ponies now live separated by species. Sunny – a feisty and idealistic young Earth Pony – is convinced there’s still hope for this divided world, but her slightly misguided and often hilarious efforts to change hearts and minds have led to her being branded a misfit. When Sunny befriends a lost Unicorn named Izzy, who wanders innocently into the Earth Pony town of Maretime Bay, the town has had enough. Izzy and Sunny must embark on an epic adventure that will include a daring jewel heist, outrageous conspiracy theories, elaborate musical numbers, and the world’s cutest flying Pomeranian. Their adventures will take them to faraway lands and force them to challenge the status quo by facing their fears and making new friends out of old enemies. Of course, the fandom went nuts (as expected) and began doing what they're best known for: "Over-Analysis"! Equestria Daily even featured a special page dedicated to this topic, detailing all the numerous MLP G4 references and cameos eagle-eyed fans were able to spot out.

Here you go. It seems Sunny Starscout is a bit of a 'Brony'/'Pegasister' herself. There appears to be posters of Rainbow Dash's and Princess Celestia's cutie marks on the wall behind her; her saddle bag has an imprint of Princess Twilight's cutie mark, which also appears along with Fluttershy's and Rainbow Dash's cutie marks in the beads she's wearing around her neck. Not to mention the figurines of our beloved Mane Six on a ledge right next to her bed. All this seems to fit the character description that Sunny is a pony who dreams of the good old days of friendship and harmony when everypony got along (regardless of their tribes) and she wishes to bring those kind of days back to her world.

We still haven't gotten any casting announcements, but Entertainment Tonight's article also revealed that this feature film (which is being animated by Hasbro’s Boulder Studio in Dublin), is directed by Rob Cullen and Jose Ucha while Mark Fattibene served as its co-director. Now, we don't know what exactly went behind the scenes, but according to popular MLP fan-artist Imalou, who's had the pleasure of working with both the directors, Rob and Jose know that they're apparently working on 'something really big' and so they put their heart and soul into the project. Imalou further went on to say that she struck up a particularly good friendship with Ucha, who invited her over often to talk about MLP and the Brony fandom in general. Robert was just as passionate and had a blast directing the movie by making enjoyable and funny pitches. Unfortunately she never got to interact with Mark as much, as he arrived much later on the scene. So I guess we can be optimistic that the movie will turn out just fine, considering how much heart went into it. You can find a screencap of Imalou's messages below:

But that wasn't all. the article also revealed that Netflix has green-lit the new MLP G5 animated series which is set after the events of the movie and will focus on the adventures of  Sunny Starscout and her friends - the main protagonists of the movie.

The next big reveals came from Hasbro's Investor Event, which was held the following day, on the 25th of February, 2021. Hasbro sent Equestria Daily an exclusive screenshot from the movie (pictured below) which features another new 'mane' character - Izzy Moonbow, the unicorn - along with a spoiler filled press release detailing the synopsis of the upcoming film - the same article which Entertainment Tonight had posted a day earlier.

Not long afterwards, Imalou tweeted that she specifically help design these two 'mane' characters, earning her the praise of the fandom as well as big-names like Matt Braly (creator of Disney's Amphibia), Rebecca Dart (character designer for MLP: FiM) and Jim Miller (storyboard artist/supervisor and co-director for MLP: FiM). But the main flood of news came from the investor presentation panel - a three-hour event that ran from 10 AM EST till 1 PM EST. You can read Equestria Daily's article on it here or watch the full panel here. I'll jot down the main points below:

• There's been a 139% increase in viewership for "My Little Pony" content.
• 
• The upcoming G5 movie will introduce the first male pony to be a part of the 'mane' cast. (Turns out the 4chan leak was right about that too! According to the, his name is Hitch. His full name was later confirmed to be Hitch Trailblazer by the "My Little Pony" official Facebook page, as reported by Equestria Daily).

• The 2021 MLP G5 feature film will be followed on Netflix by a 44-minute special, a brand-new CGI series, as well as made-for YouTube content throughout 2022-23, supporting the roll-out of a brand-new line of toys and consumer products. Speaking of...
• New MLP G5 toys and merchandise were revealed!

What's curious is that there was no sign of the new logo spotted on the Secret Ring Blindbag packs that I discussed about in my previous post. Maybe they're saving it for a big reveal at a later point? After all, it's absurd to assume that we won't get any more updates on the movie until it suddenly drops on Netflix.  I do hope they put some effort into marketing the movie,, when poor marketing was one of the reasons the 2017 movie didn't perform so well at the box-office. If we look at previous patterns, we should be getting a teaser trailer sometime in late March, and a full trailer around July (approximately 6 months and 3 months before the movie's actual release). Book publisher Harper Collins have already put out two brand-new listings for future "My Little Pony" books, titled "My Little Pony: Cinematic I Can Read #1" and "My Little Pony: Cinematic 8x8 Plus" with an August 24th sale date.

And while we may not have any 'official' information about the writers or the voice actors involved, a 4chan user had this to say:

Now, as far as any of us can tell, these may just be baseless rumours. But keep in mind that the other leaks that came from 4chan turned out to be almost 100% accurate - so there's still a 50-50 chance this could be true too. But until we get further information, let's take this 'leaked info' with a grain....no, wait...a pound of salt.

What's even more curious is that another artist seems to have been involved with the MLP G5 movie, besides Imalou, based on these threads:

If this is true, then why hasn't that person revealed themselves? I mean, it's no surprise that Hasbro hired fan-artists for the movie - they'd previously hired another extremely popular fan-artist to do covers for the IDW comics. And you'd think that whoever this 'mystery artist' was would have announced themselves after all the big reveals yesterday.

But thankfully, Imalou stepped in and confirmed the fact that another fan-artist was indeed involved in the project, and was in fact responsible for designing "our handsome new ponyboi" Hitch Trailblazer! Take a look at her messages below:

Meanwhile, someone over on Derpibooru has spotted our fourth main character: Zipp the Pegasus! The image is super-blurry, but hey, at least it matches the description the leaks provided!

Yet another 'leaker' who has claimed to have worked on the MLP movie has 'leaked'  some 'information on Ponychan, of all places. The post contained some highly unlikely, but oddly specific details which, for all we know, could be someone's idea of a fanfic instead. So unless Hasbro, Imalou or anyone we know who definitely worked on the movie confirms the authenticity of said leak, I will not be posting it here. I only ever posted about the previous leaks (after a long time they were originally posted) because they were beginning to match the official information. If and when any credible source confirms the latest leak, expect to see Part 3 of "What we Know So Far!"

One, I found it quite interesting to learn about how many times it turned out that some rumoured G5 leak turned out be seemingly real. Quite a lot of random things leaked out of Hasbro and DHX over the course of FiM's run so I wonder if it's a systemic security problem or a guerilla marketing tactic to start warming up the hype train before a big release like yesterday's.

Two, having the full timeline of G5 information in one spot makes my inner "internet historian" really happy. Seeing how all the puzzle pieces that were dropped over the months and years come together to paint the big picture of what's coming our way - I expect to look back at this day fondly in a few years as the moment the G5 hype train left the station.

Three, the connection to Imalou- I had no idea about that before reading your post, and found it heartwarming to learn that a fan artist was hired by Hasbro to work on the very IP they love. I tend to hear more about companies keeping a cautious distance from hiring their fans - good reasons for this exist but I can still have the warm fuzzies over this.

And for my last point right now, as a pony fan with a tendency to get way too excited about aesthetics and canon theorycrafting, I really enjoyed the collection of images you collected to display here that take us from those mysterious blankets (we have a dedicated thread for those, by the way, for anyone who wants to rave or rant about 'em) to the characters' names and a cleaned-up version of the official logo.

I plan to return to this thread tomorrow when my brain is less mushy. I enjoyed the heck out of reading that opening post and would love to keep up with any future writeups like it that you make in the future. Thanks so much again for putting this together and sharing it here.

But that was the point of the whole post - to compare the leaked stuff with the official announcements and see if they add up. It wouldn't have been possible to do that if I'd separated the 'leaked' info from the official bits.

As it is, we haven't had any official news except what was revealed earlier today. Pretty much everything else that have cropped up have been leaks or speculations, nothing more.

Maybe I can do something like what you suggested once we get more official info...

Also, that part confused me too. Maybe the 'leaker' got mixed-up? Lol, to think they got everything right - except for that little bit of crucial info about the pony's race. Either that was a typo, or they deliberately put a bit of wrong info (why though?) That's my guess!

The earliest solid bits of information surrounding the MLP G5 movie (not the ones from the 2017 leaks) came from the Festival of Licensing and were reported by Equestria Daily on October 8, 2020.  The article revealed that the 2021 all-CGI MLP G5 movie would feature a brand-new cast of characters along with the (possible) return of the ‘Old Cast’ (probably the Mane 6 of MLP FiM, who won’t take center-stage but will serve as incidental characters or cameos). It also mentioned that Paramount Pictures was set to distribute the film, which was produced by Hasbro’s entertainment studio Entertainment One and that the movie had been scheduled to open in theaters on September 24, 2021.

Things have been awfully quiet since then, with no other announcements, not even who’s been cast in the movie. And this is strange because in case of the 2017 movie , we got the casting announcements as early as August 10, 2015 – 2 years, 1 month and 27 days before the movie’s release on October 6, 2017. Other announcements continued throughout 2016, with the second one being on February 12, 2016 and the last one on January 23, 2017.

But today it’s February 24, 2021 – barely 7 months until the movie releases, and we have still no freaking clue as to who’s even been cast. The only vague information came from the Licensing Summit Online which had a presentation about the Russian branch of Hasbro about their "My Little Pony" brand. The presentation revealed the following schedule:

Besides stating for the umpteenth time that the MLP G5 movie will premiere Fall 2021, the presentation also revealed that:

a)      We will apparently have a 44-minute special with the new generation in Spring 2022

b)      Fall 2022 will see the debut of the MLP G5 series proper.

c)       We’ll have 2 seasons of MLP G5 during the period 2022-24, each of which will be divided into two parts (kinda how they did with MLP G4 FiM, I believe)

[Side note: The presentation also mentioned that the line of dolls with the Equestria Girls will be updated in 2021, but no new movies or animated series with them had been planned.]

The only concrete piece of news we’ve gotten so far is that the MLP G5 will be skipping the theaters altogether and instead will be heading straight to Netflix (probably due to Covid restrictions), as reported by Variety.

And the entire My Little Pony fandom is waiting on tenterhooks for any solid piece of information about the upcoming MLP G5 movie, and a vast majority of us are getting impatient at the lack of any ‘official’ announcements. 

But that’s not to say that there haven’t been ‘unofficial’ announcements. In fact, there have been tons of teeny-tiny bits and bobs of information flying around which is what compelled me to create this post in the first place. I wanted to collect every piece of info we have on the G5 movie into one massive post and see if I can’t put together something solid and cohesive, because God knows I need to rearrange my ideas or I can’t think straight.

So, what exactly do we know about G5 so far? Next to nothing? Or everything – including but not limited to the setting, the plot, and the characters etcetera?  Well, the answer would vary depending on whether or not you choose to believe the 4chan leaks.

Now you might roll your eyes and think “Really, dude? 4chan is your source? Those folks come up with literally anything!”

Which, I admit, would be most logical and common reaction.  Even I was skeptical at first. But as the days passed and we got official tidbits of information (which uncannily matched the ‘leaks’), my opinion began to waver.

So let me break this down for you. The following is a screen-cap of the original 4chan posts. You can find both the archived threads here (or here) and the second one here.

Notice the dates. The post bearing No. 35988776 which first brought up the leaks (bottom) is dated October 13, 2020 while the follow-up ‘leak’ (top) bearing No. 36193384 was posted exactly a month and 11 days later on November 23, 2020.

I’ll list down the main points:

• Takes place in Futuristic Equestria
• FiM characters and the Elements of Harmony believed to be long gone.
• The main character is a happy-go-lucky Pegasus who just wants everyone to get along and be friends. She’s part of a pacifism activist group.
• The other major character is a unicorn kind of like twilight who wants rights for her ponies, and she and the main pegasus form the main duo.
• The MC (main character) remembers a time when friendship was commonplace in Equestria and the races got along.

Now compare this info with what the KidScreen article revealed. For the record, this article was published on January 29, 2021. That’s 109 days (i.e. 3 months, 17 days) after the original leak on October 13, 2020 and 68 days (i.e. 2 months, 7 days) after the follow-up leak on November 23, 2020. To get a brief summary, you can either read the Equestria Daily post or watch DrWolf’s video on it.

But for now, let’s focus on what the article has to say about the plot of the movie. Read the following excerpts from it below:

• "Instead of abandoning the franchise’s characters and stories, the movie will take place in the same world featured in Friendship is Magic and Pony Life, but jump ahead in time to focus on a new generation of ponies and unexplored corners of Equestria.
• “The movie’s main character, for example, is an activist working to make the pony world a better place."

[The latter point about the main protagonist created a shitstorm. A majority of the fans have expressed their disappointment over MLP going woke, while others are still on the fence about it. But that topic deserves its own separate post, so let’s not get sidetracked]. 

Welp, there you go. The main gist of the article adds up with the rumoured 4chan leaks. Make of that what you will.

Coincidence? I think not. Personally, I’m of the opinion that that the 4chan leaks do indeed have a basis in fact. Because the similarities between the leaks and the article are just too strong. But if it is a coincidence – then whoever posted those ‘leaks’ on 4chan must possess future knowledge or Divination powers. That’s the only possible explanation.

There’s another thing.

On January 13, 2021, Equestria Daily reported the appearance of a mystery animatic (titled “Opening Scene Song”)  online which was supposedly posted mistakenly by someone who formerly worked Boulder Media as a storyboard artist. When the news spread like wildfire, the animatic was promptly taken down by the artist from whichever site it was they originally posted on. But the damage was already done. Plenty of people (including myself) went ahead and immediately saved it (as well as the .pptx slides) and some of them even made YouTube videos about it.

As DrWolf001 so clearly observed in his video (and I quote):

“We have what appears to be an older male pony showing figurines of the Mane 6 to a younger pony (who might be Izzy – but more on that later); and much of it shows the comradery between the pony races and especially the close bonds between the Mane 6 themselves. It also seems like this older male pony is talking about the Mane 6 as if they were stories of long ago. ‘Legends and History of Equestria.’ I mean, why else would there be figurines of each of the Mane 6? The way these two characters are interacting with the Mane 6 seems much more likely to be – as mentioned before – tales from long ago. So, if this was meant to be part of the upcoming 2021 movie, then this would indeed be one way of bridging the gap between G4 and G5.”

This interpretation does indeed match with what the leaks refer to as “the MC remember(ing) a time when friendship was commonplace in Equestria and the races got along”.

Next, let’s move on to the ‘supposed’ characters of the movie, shall we? Here’s a screencap from another 4chan leak

Now, for all we know, those could just be rumours. Made-up names and descriptions.

But wait.

Take a look what popped up on Equestria Daily on the morning hours of February 22, 2021.

Rumor: Licensed MLP Bedding Shows Off Possible G5 MLP Style

Here’s an excerpt.

“The company, Jerry Fabrics, has been known to license MLP in the past and even has some G4 products awaiting release for later this year. What is curious though is the product you see above for release in September of this year. Not only is it a completely different style from the other products scheduled for release, but the September release date puts this new bedding out in stores around the release date of the MLP Movie..................If it does turn out to be G5 then I guess we get our first look at some possible characters from the movie as well as the potential style.”

Take a close look at the images on the bedsheet. And then read the (apparently leaked) character descriptions. They match exactly.

 Well? What do you make of that? Another coincidence??? Nope. Extremely unlikely.

Also, now scroll up and take another close look at that animatic. That younger pony sure does resemble “Sunny” the earth-pony, doesn’t it?

Not to mention the fact that the art-style closely resembles lmalou’s who has reportedly done freelance work on the upcoming movie.

According to the report on Equestria Daily, “In the past 3 years Imalou worked both at and with Boulder Media, an Irish animation studio acquired by Hasbro a few years ago, as part of the effort to bring a new cast of ponies to the big screen next year.”

Below are some samples of lmalou’s work. The way she draws the ponys’ eyes and muzzle closely resembles the drawings on the bedsheet.

And as if any more proof was needed, a fan sent an email to the company that advertised the bed-sheet and they confirmed the fact that the characters displayed on the bed sheet are indeed from the upcoming G5 movie.

What further cements the fact is that Equestria Daily reported on February 23, 2021 that jfabrics website has since unlisted the merchandise featuring the new Mane Trio - although the page itself is still up. 

What’s more, EQD was instructed to remove all images of the item off the site too.

But as other fans have pointed out, Hasbro’s efforts are, as usual, “too little, too late”, seeing as Derpibooru, Tumblr and Twitter already exploded with an unbelievable number of fan-art "celebrating" those designs. (Thanks, fandom, really appreciate that! Keep the artworks rolling!!)

Next up, the new MLP Logo

Hints of a possible new logo for MLP G5 emerged online on January 11, 2021 when Equestria Daily reported that “a sleuth over on Derpibooru” while looking at merchandise on Taobao has spotted a never-before-seen logo on one of the packs.

This roused some speculation, but the very next day (January 12, 2021), Equestria Daily reported another piece of news surrounding the new logo. This time, the logo was spotted on one of the Secret Ring Blindbag packs (pictured below).

Here’s a clearer version of the logo (vectored by someone on 4chan)

As expected, this sent the rumour-wheel spinning and there were tons of theories and speculation surrounding the product and where that shop picked up said merchandising. Also, while the actual box for the rings featured the familiar G4 logo, a bunch of the characters were unknowns. But there was no confirmation – official or otherwise – from any source whatsoever.

That is, until the reveal of the new characters on the bedsheet. Take a close look at the font.

That’s an exact match! What further evidence do we need? It’s “two plus two equals four”.

(Side note: The phrase “Everypony can make a difference” written on the blanket kinda sorta gives off activism vibes – but that could just be my imagination running wild).

On February 8, 2021, at the Hasbro (HAS) Q4 2020 Earnings Call Transcript, Brian Goldner (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer) has gone on record saying that (and I quote):

“........This is further enhanced by Hasbro IP like My Little Pony, which has been reinvented under the eOne family brand's scheme leadership and is re-launching later this year. Certainly, in 2021, we are building an event around the new My Little Pony animated feature film which we're all very excited about and that should be a very robust program both for Hasbro developed products as well as consumer products. We've got our own My Little Pony movie coming in the September window. Every one of our franchise brands was up with the exception of My Little Pony and we've already talked about how we'll be staging that this year. The eOne team will share more on our progress and plans at our event on February 25th.”

Hasbro is holding an investor event on February 25, 2021 (that’s only a day away!) where they are expected to reveal more on the plans for the G5. Here – keep checking this countdown timer.
