  1. Once again, I have created some fan art work, this time it's digital, and so once again I am asking anyone who may be reading this to follow the link below and have a looksie.

Thank you very much, - Night Sky

  2. That my reputation as a staunch Canterlot loyalist might continue to grow, I have taken it upon myself to create a set of "state portraits" as it were, for the Big Four. Of course, I could not have done this without the amazingly realized, and generously shared assests created by a great many other pony artists, whoever you are and wherever you may be, my thanks. Royal portraits have always had to walk a line between depicting their subjects favorably, being suitable for public consumption by all members of society, while also making key points with regard to heredity, laws, traditions and creeds. I have tried to show each princess in a satisfactorily regal manner, while also heavily emphasizing their magical powers and indicating their role as rulers. In Princess Celestia's case, I aimed way over the top from the get go, she's got royal and she's not ashamed to own it. Accents of gold and bronze accompany a vision of Princess Celestia's serene command of the sustaining, cleansing and blinding bright rays of the sun. For Princess Luna I took the opposite approach in almost every regard, while still situating her among nice things. A more spartan, but also a more mysterious audience chamber glows with the reflected light of the moon, and dim penumbras gently mute a color palate of purples, sea foam, bone and deep blues. As the Princess of Love, Mi Amore Cadenza would certainly want her husband and daughter to be at her side. The Crystal Empire is multiverse of dreams and phantasms captured in living, growing latices. What is the Princess of Friendship without her friends, so there they stand besides Princess Twilight Sparkle. Some of these friends came easily, some after great persistence and at some cost. I believe the keyword here is redemption. And if, here in the human world, we can use the examples set by the Four Alicorn Princesses of Equestria for our betterment, then perhaps even this world can find the redemption it so desperately seeks, and most certainly needs.
  3. Make Your Mark clearly indicates that Opaline Arcana was a contemporary of Princesses Celestia and Luna, and was even spurned by them as a filly. Opaline was very, very ancient by the time of Make Your Mark. She survived without her magic throughout all the years Twilight Sparkle's spell was in effect. I don't believe that continent sized wards dampening the manifestation of magic would by itself be enough to deprive an Alicorn of her immortality. So where did they all go? It's probably meant to be mysterious, so these are just theories, my opinions; - It may be something like the Elves in Tolkien's Middle Earth, either taking the ship back to Valinor or going to the Halls of Mandos. - Maybe after a certain duration of time, an Alicorn is compelled by instinct, magic or firm conviction to a tradition to which we're not privy, to go find a cave. There she might meditate endlessly on the sun, or the moon...or Love. - Or Luna "returned" to THE Moon, or Celestia became one with the Sun. - Maybe like the cottage of Tom Bongmaker, they are hiding in plain sight but are either unable or not disposed to interfere anymore for some reason the rest of us could never understand. If there is no mystery, there is no magic. However, in the hologram she created, Twilight Sparkle did mention that she would be with "you". I believe that Alicorns are at least somewhat prescient. Twilight Sparkle may well have had some idea of who would be watching, thousands of years later. Consider the God Emperor Leto II's message to the Bene Gesserit in Heretics of Dune. He had the message written on the wall of a hidden storehouse, thousands of years before it would be rediscovered. Twilight's message is very similar. Remember that when Twilight Sparkle became an Alicorn, Princess Celestia took her off into a bizarre astral realm of cosmic flat screen TV's. Maybe they go there. It's up to the imagination. You decide where they went, but for Celestia's Sake, don't make it a boring fate.
  4. Not really. And, until I got about halfway through Mark Your Mark and watched more than ten episodes of Tell Your Tale, I was something of an apologist for Gen 5. Now? I'm kind of weirded out. What are the takeaways? I did watch the movie before starting either series, FIM is a tough act to follow, but I wasn't going into the movie hoping it would fail. I thought things were getting off to a good start. I especially liked the fact that Gen 5 DID try to link itself to Gen 4. But if I hadn't seen Gen 4 first, I probably would not have rushed into the shows on the basis of the film. Maybe, it's hard to say. I don't think the film would have made a BRONY out of me. Whereas, say what you will about it, and even though I'd seen some episodes before I watched it, the Gen 4 film did have a big role in making me into a brony.
  5. Starfish can survive the loss of a limb, some species can grow them back.
  6. This is all very close to home for me too. I see it in Princess Luna, and feel it there too. But it strikes home for me the most in unreformed Starlight Glimmer, who several ponies have already mentioned in this thread. I was never as successful as Princess Luna, either before or after she went wrong. Starlight suffered from a very similar wound of envy, sense of rejection, lack of purpose and a feeling that the world had past her by. Unreformed Starlight was a might-have-been who was really a never-was, who used a great deal of talent and ability to carve out a small personal hell for herself and a small group. I am not saying I've done everything Starlight Glimmer had done. But watching her unreformed self is very uncomfortable for me. But that's the genius of MLP generally and FIM in particular. Twilight Sparkle went to work on Starlight, and Discord and Trixie...how would it all have ended if she hadn't? There are very few franchises which offer much in the way of redemption, and maybe none as much as FIM.
  7. For me it's a toss up between two candidates. 1.) Tirac / Tirek, because he has been an enemy of ponies since the beginning of Gen 1, and he was already very powerful back then. He has the power, the magical abilities, the greed, the callousness, and a lucid if not imaginative intellect to keep him focused. Thank goodness Tirac/Tirek didn't have his kick A55 war chariot during his battle with Twilight Sparkle, that infernans en vehiculo is Temperate. Who knows how that battle might have gone if he'd been airborne. 2.) The Tantabus. I am reminded of the id monster from Forbidden Planet. Remember, an Alicorn Princess is almost a demi-goddess, there was a lot of power behind Princess Luna's thought form, a lot of natural magic gone wrong. If the Tantabus had totally and completely broken free of Princess Luna, Equestria would have been cooked. The entire would be like a series of bad hallucinations onboard the Event Horizon, 24/7. I get the creeps just thinking about it.
  8. My favorite non-Mane 6 character is back. She's always at her best. I can never get enough of Maud Pie. Beneath her hilariously flat deadpan exterior, there is a caring, pragmatic and streetwise pony who never fails to do the right thing, albeit in a low key manner. This episode reminds me very much of the bulk of Season 5. A mellow, chill, slice of life story that leaves you feeling relaxed and amused by the end. Also, dare I say, somewhat hopeful that there is happiness to be found in life. I love FIM's effectively perfect balance of an epic story nine years in the making, with charming and enheartening glimpses of everyday life.
  9. every few days, not often enough. I'd like to do it every two days, I suppose, but it depends upon my energy levels.
  10. Hobbies of mine: 1.) Making my art 2.) Collecting Glass Insulators (kind of like Maud Pie probing at the ground examining rocks) 3.) Hiking 4.) Gaming 5.) my YouTube Channel, though not so much lately, more come June. those are the big five
  11. I sold my soul, my mind and my body to the Devil for love. And it was for love, cause money sure as hell wasn't on the table, until She found someone who had a great deal of it. But that wouldn't be for another ten years. But...at a time and place of her own choosing the Devil tore my soul out of my chest, and left it there on the floor in front of me, and then the Devil kicked me out of Her life. It has nothing to do with heaven, hell or the supernatural. For some people, like people who don't believe in anything except the cup that is eternally half empty, getting into a romantic arrangement involving the Devil is just like buying a luxury car and then trading up for something nicer. More power to them. As for the rest of us, who are not so clever as to realize that life itself is so far beneath us, those of us who showed love and trust and honored our vows or our commitments; A romantic break up involving the Devil may well destroy your entire life. You may be homeless until you finally land in your parent's basement. Friends may ditch you. You very well might lose your job and struggle to find and hold another. Your investments and retirement may well evaporate. Children you may have brought into the world or at least raised may be out of your life forever. People who love you may be saddened by the sight of your face, and may struggle with resentment and disappointment in you on their end. Your own mind may well be filled with an emptiness you cannot fill, a rage you cannot quell, and sadness that cannot be cheered up. Since there's always two sides to every story, and our society is so litigious, most people will look at a dead animal on the side of the road of a person and say; - yeah well there's probably a reason, - they're wallowing, it can't have been that bad, - if they were smarter or more of an adult they'd have done this, or if they'd seen that, would have been preventable. Warm sentiments, I've received them and I'm here to tell you that words like that make some people go through the whole process all over again in their minds, right then and there. Some people aren't able to sleep anymore, the nightmares buckle and rattle their sanity, they cannot avoid unhealthly eating, they stop exercising or socializing. And then there's our experts. I could say a lot about them, but I'll just say one thing. Much like the Devil, they are the type of people who never stop till they get everything they ever wanted. And nowadays they do, more often than not. So, you can imagine, they are actually great admirers, and thus advocates and sympathizers for the Devil. The ease with which the Devil can purchase your soul for love or some other desire is even considered a modern moral and social marvel. For my part, I profoundly regret having sold my soul to the Devil for love. The Devil did not want to steal or destroy my soul. It satisfied the Devil to tear it out of me, drop it on the floor in front of me and then tell me it had never been of any value to Her anyways. I cannot recommend that anyone sell their soul to the Devil, because I can't know what kind of person they really are in this regard. Maybe they're the type who doesn't really care, that's a not negligible percentage of the total population. But, I would not wish what I've been through on my worst enemy. I had to pick my soul back up, set it back into my chest and try to learn to relate to it again. It has taken over nine years at this point, and there's just so much scar tissue that will never go away entirely. It's Nargly now, dude, know what I'm sayin? I'm telling you everypony, selling your soul to the Devil for love or for anything else is as a raw a deal as you can make. But don't think for a second that you cannot actually do it. You can, you absolutely do have the option. It has nothing to do with metaphysics or science or religion or atheism. If you think a lack of a belief in a supernatural entity will shield you from anything, then why are three atheists I've known in divorce groups no longer with us, by their own hand? I'm begging you, don't sell your soul to the Devil.
  12. I don't know how well Suson Farm is doing, but it kind of matches the description of this place where you worked. We went cause my brother was researching local equine therapy, and this place came up. I'd never heard of it. It's a couple buildings tucked away in an obscure part in a remote sector of the county. And they never advertise it. It's a shame these kinds of programs don't get bigger budgets, less red tape and more presence in the media. It does folks good to go to the farm once and awhile.
  13. My Sparkle is Green. It is the color of Summer. Of verdant nature at its height. It is the color of eternity and timelessness. It is the color of a past that never began and a future which will never end, and yet for all that, here is Green, right in front of me, right now, in this very moment. Not for nothing is green the color to which the human eye is most sensitive. I have always felt very close to it, and I am always most happy when work requires me to be outdoors. In the green, that is.
  14. Cocoa is very fetching, she's pictured above looking out of her stall into the yard. She was born in 1998! So she's a young lady. She's seen some changes in her time.
  15. The Suson Farm is located in Fenton, South St.Louis County, Missouri and it is operated by the County Parks Department. The complex consists of several barns, enclosures, fields, a wallow and a chicken coup. The residents include full sized horses, ponies, donkies, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs and ducks and geese. The place is free to visit and feels like an Equestrian embassy, here in the human world. Of course these are not cartoon animals. But they seem very well taken care of, used to being around the public and I was able to have some very therapeutic (and badly needed) interactions with them. Please enjoy the pictures.
  16. Local EUP Guards from my human hometown enjoying a heavenly afternoon.

They serve in a division of the police department's mounted officers.

  17. We shall be watching Flurry Heart's career with keen interest. Such power. I always love to visit the Crystal Empire, even on a day when its citizens are behaving like a mindless mob from Maretime Bay. It's also touching to see a beaming Twilight Sparkle distracted by seeing her neice. Starlight Glimmer, in addition to her extreme talent for magic, also has a lot of intelligence AND common sense (the two aren't always the same) and it's nice to watch her take a first solid step to reorienting herself into pony society. The Geostorm itself just seems like kind of a Deus Ex Machina to make all of this happen though. Meeting Twilight's parents at the end was as low key as it was unexpected.
  18. I've posted my second piece of fan art over in the Visual Fan Art section of this forum, check it out here:

This piece is important to me. The one of Rarity is too, but I am a Twi fan, and I really feel that I was able to show something important about Twilight Sparkle and how I feel about it.

    1. Snow

      Snow

      Nice job!
You put a lot of love and effort into it.

  19. Twilight Sparkles at Twilight, pen and ink on paper, 8x10" March - April, 2025 This is my second piece of hand drawn FIM fan art. I make no claims of being such a great artist, my one single hope for these pieces is that they will somehow communicate my sincerity. I slaved over this with tiny brushes like a jeweler or a watch maker for several hours to get it colored as best as I could, be that what it may. I don't like to draw or paint or sit at GIMP GNU without music playing, and if a piece of art is important to me, it will typically have one track, usually non-vocal, that...animates it. Here is that song, listening to it while looking at the drawing can yield insights into my motivations and how I see the Ponies of Equestria; https://youtu.be/mId0g2Td43M?si=OhbW7L9Ezc0BBZHj Would you sit out in a field with Princess Twilight Sparkle at dusk? As the dusk wans and night time gently descends, there is far less terror of what the darkness might bring. Ponies know that the benevolent magic of Princess Luna is watching from above. Can you smell the sweetness of the grass? Can you hear the frogs chirping in the distance? Don't the last rays of the sun create a nocturnal rainbow in an unusual frequency of light? Can you notice the play of texture and foam, as the marshmallows melt into her hot chocolate? What is the source of light coming from within the lantern? What secrets of magic does the tome reveal? What about the artifact? Surely she would not let you get so close to something like that, unless there were a good reason. Equestria is a land of magic, and that magic has a great deal to do with how close Ponies are to the natural world. By being so naturally and yet so joyously alive, the transcendent dimensions of life are more easily perceived and made manifest in Equestria. This has never ceased to fascinate me, and illustrating that is always a high priority when I make my own fan art.
  20. While still far from perfect I have updated this offering with a slightly improved photo of the drawing.
  21. I feel that my posts DO matter a great deal. At least here on this site, but don't take my word for it. I get replies. Both the group of people I am close to, and total strangers frequently at least react to my posts and I try to reciprocate when I can. But don't take my word for it, look at my little green numbers, I have almost as many reactions as I have posts, I'd say that's pretty good. Now, it seems all my comments on somewhere like YouTube are just TL:DR anymore, no surprise, right? I'm older. I must say though, I don't feel the same way about my threads. I recently started a thread with a poll attached to it. When I look at how many people viewed the thread, but how few people voted or commented, it's kind of depressing. I put a lot of effort into that thread and it seems that many people saw it, but very few people engaged at all. That's never a GOOD feeling. But even then, that doesn't necessarily mean the thread doesn't matter. It is preserved here on this site. I don't expect standing ovations as I add my commentary to the FIM section as I continue my rewatch. It is enough for me to say my piece about each episode and get that on the record.
  22. The meaning of life is the same for everyone. How we conceive and conceptualize it for ourselves is a matter of preference and personality. There are no actual contradictions, only seeming contradictions. Every single idea of the meaning of life is a manifestation, that is to say, an effect. It is not that every effect has a cause, it is that there is no difference between a cause and an effect, they are merely two ways of looking at the same process. As a process, cause and effect is an attribute, if you must, a law of the material creation. All causes and effects are sustained by That which underlies them. That is the meaning of life. Your mode, your point of view and your desires give rise to causes and effects, and these are the sources of your conception of the meaning of your life. The point is, you have a meaning of life. The meaning of your life could even be to deny that life has a meaning, if such is your inclination. But you are compelled by both the laws governing the material creation and the Transcendent Will to have a meaning and to have your work. That IS the meaning, and everything you might go and do, or desire to do is included in that. The possibilities for manifestation in the world are endless. There's room for everybody. There is literally no end to what you might seek to do. So, what is MY meaning of life, after all wasn't that the question? Again, my meaning is your meaning, is everyone's meaning. My manifestation isn't so grandiose. I make art. I have a couple hobbies. I try to play a positive role. There's some traveling I want to do, and some studies I take very seriously. If I accomplish a decent amount of all that, then this life will not have been wasted, as far as I'm concerned.
  23. I would be okayish at history, philosophy and what used to be called social studies. I'd make a great art teacher. I could get kids interested in science while teaching them very little useful information. I'd be worse than nothing as a math teacher.
  24. Lazy, upper middle class intellectuals. Highly educated, highly neurotic and too close for anyone's well being, then again, maybe not close enough. As you'll hear on certain...lifestyle websites, it's complicated.
