  1. Here's what bothers me: It's not the fact that Viacom is being a copyright Nazi. Hell, every corporation does that. I do agree that he tends to take it too far with the personal attacks, but at the same time, I like him because of his unabashed opinions. But at the end of the day, isn't that just all they are? Opinions?

No, what bothers me is that there is no freedom of speech. I understand the first amendment does not cover such things as libel and slander. But calling someone an asshole or a dumbass is not slander. A personal attack, yes, but not slander. Because it's not fact. It's only his opinion of that person. Just like his opinions of these shows are only opinions.

And I don't think he's going to apologize. I do watch his videos, and when I couldn't find his channel, I checked his DeviantArt page. In a nutshell, he's probably going to fight it and he's not going to make an apology. He's already reuploaded a handful of his videos to DailyMotion.

Do I feel bad for him? Nah, not really. I think he was kinda asking for it with the personal attacks. But do I think it's right? No. And if this does go to court and the judge or judges rule against him, they're basically allowing companies to walk all over someone's first amendment rights. Because like I said, calling someone an asshole or saying "Fuck you" is not slander. "This guy is an asshole because he wrote a bad episode" is just an opinion. Now do I think he owes an apology to Casey Alexander? Yes. Very much so.

I'm kinda on the fence with this thing, though. I think karma has sorta bit him in the ass for this. But what kind of world do we live in wherein you can't express an opinion and not be sued for it anymore? That's what scares me.

  2. Here's an example on what it's like in Chicago.

Last January it was 15 below 0. And right now, it's like 40 degrees. Mother nature sure is a mystery.

Have you heard of the cold front in late 1911 where record highs and lows were broken the same day? Oklahoma City was 83 that afternoon and it dropped all the way to 17 that night. I think I also heard something along the lines of two people in Chicago who died - one from a heat stroke and the other froze to death - in the same 24 hours.

I could only imagine the kind of panic that would have spread.

    Pretty interesting read

  3. You live in Oklahoma and you consider that bipolar?

I've seen it go from 80 degrees to snow overnight! And I've seen, in western Oklahoma, it go from the 90s to an ice storm in the span of a couple of days.

Stormy and then partly cloudy? Come on now, that's normal area weather! xD

Oh I'm from southwest Oklahoma. I grew up there! I know exactly what you mean lol

  4. @, It's true that taking a physical product would possibly deprive someone else of that product, but at the end of the day it still took time, effort, and funding to produce and distribute something via digital distribution. Distribution is distribution, regardless of if it's physical or digital. And theft is theft, regardless of if you do it physically or digitally. You're still taking money out of someone's pockets. These things still have to be created, developed, marketed, distributed to a vendor, sold, and (especially in the case of software) updated. The only difference is that what you get is not tangible so you cut out the shipping.

And no I wouldn't put my chips on TPB being down forever. I know they've been raided many times in the past and I halfway expect them to go back up.

  5. I thought it was funny that it has Toshiba parts in there. Everyone knocks Toshiba for making low quality machines yet everyone tends to think that Apple products are the cream of the crop...yet they use Toshiba parts! That's like the iPod Classic uses a hard drive made by (you guessed it) Toshiba. lol I don't like the Mac OS so I stay away from them. But as a hardware guy, I love seeing the insides of these things. Neat post :D

  6. The thing about gameplay in Gen II was that they fixed so much that was wrong with the battle system in Gen I.

    • Moves like Wrap, Bind, and Fire Spin were fixed. Because with Speed, patience, and PP, you could beat anything with those annoying moves.
    • In Gen II, you got to attack the turn you woke up. In Gen I, if you slept 5 turns, you'd wouldn't get to attack until Turn 6. You always lost between 2 and 6 turns to sleep rather than 1 to 5 turns, like I'm sure they meant in the first place. In a link battle mode, it made speedy sleep inducers pretty OP since you would be warned that the opponent will get to attack next turn. All you have to do is put them back to sleep. Good thing we didn't have Baton Pass!
    • If you defeated a foe with a move that needed a recharge (I think Hyper Beam was the only one until Gen III but I could be wrong), you didn't lose a turn to the recharge
    • Hold items. Why did it take til Gen II to realize this needed to happen??
    • Focus Energy was supposed to increase your chances of scoring a Crit, but instead, it actually decreased your chance.
    • Critical hits were based on speed. Since Charizard is a fast Pokemon that learns Slash through leveling up, and Slash has a higher than normal Critical hit ratio, Slash was almost always guaranteed to be a Crit. It was pretty OP on Charizard and pretty much any fast sweeper.
    • Struggle is a Normal Type attack in Gen I, which renders it useless against Ghosts (though it's not much of a worry since  there are only 3 Ghost Pokemon in that Gen)
    • The Toxic/Leech Seed counter stack
    • Using Substitute at 25% health would be suicide.
    • Foes Hyper Beaming or Self Destructing/Exploding on a substitute didn't have to recharge and didn't faint.
    • The hilarity that occurs when you can't recover because you're 255 or 511 points below your max health. Because a glitch causes recovery moves to fail in those cases.
    • Rage. That move is too stupid to comment on. I never knew what it was supposed to do.
    • Moves like Fury Attack and Doubleslap that attack more than once in the same turn all attack for the same damage. That means if one of them lands a crit, they ALL land a crit.
    • The accuracy of OHKO moves like Guillotine, Fissure, and Horn Drill was based on speed. They were pretty much useless since pretty much every Pokemon that could learn these moves was slow, except Dugtrio, which can evidently achieve a max speed stat of 372
    • The Special stat. Why was this never split in the first place?

There's so much more than that messed up with the Gen I battle system that was patched up in Gen II.

Also, the Day/Night cycle in Gen II is another one of those things that made that generation for me.

    And this guy :3
