"No no Fluttershy." Fine Beat hopped of his bunk and trotted over to the pegasus. Surely, she couldn't be this modest? "What I'm saying is that you're one the Elements of Harmony, a hero of Equestria. Combined, you all possess unimaginable power from what I heard. Shouldn't you and the other elements be beside the Princess or join a special forces unit? It's out respect Miss Shy." Fine Beat explained softly as he bowed his head. He looked up to see her trot towards another pony who had just entered the room. Fine Beat sighed.
-
"The mare at the desk never bothered to show me the list." Fine Beat said as he began to put on his uniform. "I only called out my name, then she checked it off." Fine Beat keep his beret on as he slipped into his uniform. He scoot onto his bunk and laid down, putting his hooves behind his head. "I still don't understand why the Elements of Harmony would be enlisted with the grunts. Shouldn't you all be with the Special Mare Services or something?"
-
"No miss shy, I'm sure you're doing as instructed." Said Fine Beat. He cocked an eyebrow at the alabaster pony who strut into the room with a impressive looking dress. "Triple diamond cutiemark huh?" Thought Fine Beat as he stared in disbelief. The Fashionista of Ponyville was prepping for combat aswell? Fine Beat just resorted to stop being so shocked, considering nearly all the elements have presented themselves into the room.... Just then, an orange pony with a stetson entered the room. ...Nevermind.

http://images2.wikia...rd_of_faust.png Lauren Faust had previously said the pigs needed a home, with the addition of digging truffles. And if The Great Faust says so, I believe it's pretty settled that the pigs are not raised to be eaten. Then again, could they be supplying the Griffin Kingdom with meat? Who knows?

"No, I-" Fine Beat was interupted by an extremely joyful exclaimation. He snapped his head towards the door to spot a bouncing, pink pony and a serious looking Twilight Sparkle. Fine Beat shook his head in awe. To have 4 of the Elements in his presence gave off an incredible vibration to him. He quickly sat up as straight as he could as he listened to the lavender pony's speech... did she say Applejack and Rarity?
-
Fine Beat's ears perked up. "Twilight?" He questioned. "Twilight Sparkle? Celestia's personal student and the Element of Magic?" This was almost to much for him. Two of the Elements of Harmony are enlisted? And another had persuaded the most gentlest pony in Equestria to enlist? It was... incredible. So.. out of the norm. It was fascinating!
-
"Hm? Moon pies? Sure Luna, back up the truck..." Slurred Fine Beat as he began to recover from the hit. He shook his head as his eyes began to focus on the cyan blur who rudely intercepted his approach. His eyes widened at the sight of the rainbow-maned pony embracing Fluttershy, happy as she could be. Rose colored eyes, cyan coat... Rain-Bolt cutiemark? There was only one pony in Equestria like that... He proceeded to just sit where he had fallen and observe.
-
Fine Beat stepped back, startled from the sudden movement of the pegasus. He trotted around his bunk slowly, trying not to startle her. "Pardon?" He inquired, regretting speaking out so suddenly. "I didn't mean to seem so forward miss, I was just... curious as to why an Element of Harmony would be enlisted to prep for war?" He couldn't help but notice she was covering herself in embarassment, uniform only half on. He approached carefully with a look of guilt from her terrified espression. Then, a rainbow colored blur knocked him off his hooves.

"How loud do old mares get these days?" Fine Beat thought as he trotted towards his barracks. He headed into the barrack with the least amount of ponies (Atleast the only one that didn't seem to be filled with all of this commotion) and found that there was only one pony in that barrack. He silently slung his saddlebag on the bunk next to the lone mare who was seemingly distracted putting on her uniform. Upon closer inspection, he saw that this was the same mare that was in front of him in line. "She looks so... gentle. Too gentle for a war." He thought. As he put on his uniform, he noticed her cutiemark. A triple butterfly insignia... could it be? "Excuse me miss..." Called Fine Beat. "Could you perhaps be the Element of Kindness?"
-
"Out of all the times I overslept, why did it have to be today? Fine Beat grumbled. He had missed his daily coffee stop when he discovered that he overslept and ended up getting on a rather lengthy wait on the line to camp. He wiped his brow from the heat and wondered where the Pegasus Weather Team was, considering there was a forecast for rain today. He took off his beret and dropped it in his saddle bag as a quivering butter-yellow pegasus hurried off into the camp. He approached the elder mare at the desk. "My name is Fine Beat" He said, waiting for directions.

What about Sunflower and Surf's up? Many of the songs Brian Wilson worked on during and after Pet Sounds reflected on his situation at the time, like his mental breakdown and such. Sad? Maybe. But those "sad" pieces are beautiful and brilliant to this day.

I absolutely LOVE the Beach Boys! I used to stick with their earliar hits before the discovered Pet Sounds. That album changed how I looked at Brian Wilson forever. The tracks were so ahead of it's time.

Twilight Sparkle... Element of Hope?
MrBeatnikSoul replied to MrBeatnikSoul's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Yes... Friendship is Magic. But I feel like it goes much deeper then that. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, but that's like getting a Swiss Army Knife and saying it's just a knife even with the variety of tools. The Element of Magic may be friendship, but there's much more to it then just that. As Alfonso said above, Versatile is the key word. I may have seen a piece of it as hope, but that the idea. Just hearing the word "magic" fills one with wonder. What could it be? What can it do for us? There's so much we can relate to the Element that the list is limitless, as is the meaning of magic.- 12 replies

Now this thought came upon me when I watched "Return of Harmony Part 2". Twilight is the bearer of the Element of Magic, possessing an incredible amount of power and the spark required to activate the other Elements. However, I see something else in our little unicorn. Take a look at the others: Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, and Loyalty. They're all positive aspects of how to live a life. Be honest, have kindness, share laughter, be generous, stay loyal... and then we have magic. What? Magic? Magic of what? We can apply 5 of the elements into reality, but magic? In the scene where Twilight loses her color and the Mane 6 separates, I saw Twilight losing something very different: Hope. She goes home, throws the Element away and packs her things to leave Ponyville. She shows despair. And what's the opposite of despair? Hope. When the other bearers fall into Discord's grasp, Twilight seeks to find the other elements and restore balance. Of course she did it because she was the only one up to task, but I saw that she was the only one capable of having the will to do so after losing hope itself. The letters Celestia sent did the trick, but those were all of Twilight's letters from the past. Through her own words and the lessons she learned, Twilight regains hope and the will to save Equestria. She goes on to find her friends, and basically installs hope into them. Applejack even said that she couldn't face the "truth" of her friends feuding in her visions, so she ended up telling lies. She basically lost hope in honesty, and instead took the path of desperation. Now all of these are my own thoughts, but hasn't anybody thought that there was more to the Element of Magic than just... Magic? Heck, it could be very well intended to be the Magic of Friendship. The element that brings others together as friends in harmony... What do you guys think? What does the Element of Magic mean to you?

God, I was really looking forward to it ever since Summer BronyCon 2012. But now that it's in Maryland, it'll be a nightmare to get to for some in the Tri-State area. Not only would transportation cost would be high for me, it's in the SAME WEEK as Otakon, the largest anime convention in the East coast. Folks would probably arrive early to prep for Otakon, and the hotels can only fit so much. I still got months to plan for it, but it's disappointing with all these obstacles in the way.

visual art Big Red Noses
MrBeatnikSoul replied to Tom The Diamond's topic in Non-Pony Art & Creations
It doesn't help that I can't unsee their noses as open mouths with the little "shine" on it resembling a tooth. Anyways... I like the style, and the expressions! Reminds me of the sort of "pastel" art that some of the old cards had. -
Welcome to the forum! Quite an adventure 'round these parts, and we're all friendly! Find a topic, make some friends, and enjoy your stay!

Really...? Heh, what can I say? I love trying to self-interpret OC's personalities from what I can gather from the creator, though it's not always best to do that since going too deep can rub some the wrong way at times. I'd love to see your other OC's in this style as well!

I get the feeling that she's a solitary mare who prefers lying outside under at night with a heavy-lidded expression, preferring to finish the rest of her poetry by moonlight quietly instead of going downtown with her friends where there's no sleep. Trying to... capture the beauty and loneliness of independence in darkness. And I'm looking WAY too into this, aren't I? Hehe, my bad...

I agree with Dj. The calligraphy gives a great touch with the character, as well the portrait itself. The overall features are nicely done! Also I see that the last line (or center? ) in in the writing is the opening words to Across The Universe... The Beatles! A poetic song indeed!
