Shining Midnight looked around, expecting to see other ponies flocking toward or around the ship, but there were none. He trotted up to the guards and stared into each of their eyes, and then smiled. "I don't suppose you'd even let me in without an invitation would you? Well you probably would... Anyway, here's my invitation." He took out his invitation  and showed it to the guard on his right. "And no, no weaponry on me. Nothing except my magic could be used as a weapon at the moment. Although I'm hopefully going to change that soon. Well not on board of course, but when we get back I'll change it." He said as he tapped that left guards' armor. "Made by me you know. The stuff could deflect any magical projectile you throw at it, unless of course their armor piercing... I need to fix that..." And he kept on ranting...

(Just to make this perfectly clear, I'm not controlling the guards in any way. Shining overheard the guards asked previously and answered them before they got a chance to ask them. And I know this is a re-post, but you seem to be ignoring my other post entirely.)

The guard looked over the invitation and nodded to his comrade, stepping aside to let the stallion on board.

(If you are referring to where my character said "I don't suppose you'd even let me in without an invitation would you? Well you probably would...", I was only stating that if he were ordered by a princess to be on board the ship, then the guards would have to let him on. But since he's going aboard for pleasure and not business, he presented his invitation. I hadn't controlled the guards in any way, I was just making it so that my character was asking a simple question, and giving himself the obvious answer to it.)

"Of course tradition is very important, lady Ribbonfree. And it is noble to remember where your roots are." He said calmly "But you see, the problem with many nobles of the Canterlot "elite"... " He could not help but to let a bit of sarcasm taint this last word... "...is that they see themselves as superiour to everypony else because of their birthright, many look even down on ponies who had to work for their social standing, something they see as intrusion into their inner circle."

He paused for a moment, before he continued.

"Milady... Tradition is a precious thing, but it should never prevent one from advancement... one should have the eyes firmly at the present and the future and never let go of his past. It is a fragile balance."

Obsidians smile was gone, it was apparant that something was bothering him... A moment later though all of his former stern behaviour was gone and he was smiling again. his gaze wandered to Rarity, awaiting that she started to tell the tale of how she and Ribbonfree met.

The fact that the captain joined their little group again prevented that though. The agent was not thirsty, so he poltitely declined the refreshments the captain offered. He was so busy with his conversation with the captain that he did not even notice that a fifth pony joined them.

"Me? Weapons? N-no, n-nothing of the sorts. I could probably barely lift those hulky spear most guards carry around.'' Glowing let out a nervous laugh then started going up the ramp to the ship. Upon arriving and seeing all those superbly dressed ponies, he felt almost inadequate in his classy yet sober suit. His attention was quickly driven to the fabulous Rarity, but there were so many people around her... Maybe it would be better to let talk a little bit before joining in.

He did a quick go-around the ship main area, building some courage and marveling at every little detail, before approaching the group. "Miss Rarity! Splendid as always. I must say this ship of yours fits your fabulosity. It is truly a work of art."

Stepping down from the carriage and tossing a few bits to the driver, Shady Bubbles had finally arrived at the port of the Generosity.

It looks even more amazing in person, the mare thought to herself as she slowly approached the boarding area. I wonder what mother would say if she could see me now - boarding a real airship owned by Rarity herself!

It certainly was a spectacular sight. Although she had predicted a huge crowd of ponies to be on board, there seemed to be only a small group. That's all she could see from the ground, at least. Not that this bothered her - she had never been one for crowds.

As she grew closer and closer to the port, she caught sight of the guards. These stallions were tall and muscular, and had stern, no-nonsense looks on their faces. These types of ponies presented a problem for Shady. They could be quite intimidating for anypony, but for a mare with a background like hers, they were the epitome of fear itself.

Alright Shady, this will be the hard part. These ponies have no intentions of hurting you, remember? They don't even know you. You can do this.

Shady approached the guards nervously. She had to be cautious here. It was natural for her to be anxious around such serious characters, but she couldn't reveal her emotions through conversation. Should the stallions find her to be a bit too nervous, they might think she was plotting against the fair Rarity. Presenting a ticket would be a simple task for most ponies; Shady, on the other hand, found situations like these to be difficult and stressful.

She stepped up to the guards in her regal white dress, designed by the host herself many years ago. She looked quite beautiful in this type of attire, but her demeanor tended to conflict with her physical appearance. She suffered from a lack of self-confidence, and her behavior tended to reflect this trait. She only hoped that the guards wouldn't catch wind of her timid nature; she had to board this ship, and the security believing that she was conspiring against Rarity certainly wouldn't help.

"Um... Hello... My name is... um... Shady Bubbles and I was invited to board this... ship thingy."

Nice going. "Ship thingy". They certainly won't think you are plotting an assassination now, she thought to herself. You must have confidence. This conversation will be the deciding factor for whether you get to board or not. Don't buck it up. You can do this.

"Um... Oh yes, I suppose you need to see my ticket... I have it right here in my bag... Um... Hold on just a moment."

The mare began shuffling through her bag's contents rapidly. She was clearly intimidated, and sweat beads began to form on her brow.

Sweet Celestia, girl, get ahold of yourself! You need to focus on why you're here in the first place.

"Aha! Here it is!" She presented her invitation with glee. It was unknown to Shady if the guards caught wind of her sudden excitement, or if they even cared. She only hoped they would accept the ticket without asking too many questions. It wasn't that she was planning anything dastardly, but rather that she didn't wish to interact with them longer than she had to.

Alright Shady, this is it. The moment of truth. Don't act suspicious.

Using every bit of confidence she had, Shady tried to collect herself while she anxiously awaited the guards' response.

The guards looked at Shady without so much as blinking at her faults.

Once she had produced her invitation, the guard to the right of her read off it, nodding to his partner once he was done. "Everything seems to be in order, Miss Shady. If you have any form of weaponry on your person, the captain asked that you relinquish it now for passenger and crew safety."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lady's ears almost shot up when she heard the sound of her name being called. "Flask! So nice of you to join us! Oh, allow me to introduce you to Captain Starfall. He'll be piloting for us. Starfall, this is Glowing Flask."
"A pleasure to meet you, naturally," said the stallion clad in white.
"Flask here is very interested as to how this ship works, is that not right, darling?" said Rarity.
"Well, if you would like, I could give you the grand tour! The one thing you must know right away—and I am sure you've noticed this—this ship was designed to be flown with a minimal crew, one if needed... But enough about ships for now! Where were we?"
"Ah, yes, going back to how Ribbonfree and I met... I will be honest; I do not remember much of it myself. I was... distraught... that day..." Rarity lost her place as the slightest blush began to form on her white cheeks.
In a panic, Latency was searching for Rarity's airship.
"And here I thought it would be relaxing to go on an airship. Now I'm running late for it. This can't be happening. Now Rarity's probably going to think I'm ungrateful, or something."
To his relief, he found a docked and guarded airship that matched the description. It was appeared to be more regal than Latency had pictured.
"Huh, I never knew Rarity had such deep pockets." He thought to himself.
After opening his bag, Latency reached for his invitation, and took a deep breath.
"I just finished Basic Training. I shouldn't have a reason to be so self-conscious."
Latency grabbed his bag, and approached the guards with his invitation ready. Feigning confidence, Latency asked the guards,
"I'm not too late, am I?"
Hope smiled as more ponies boarded the ship, making it easier for him to try and sneak past rarity, hope had to walk quite close to rarity to get past her, but he decided to risk, she seemed to be heavily embedded in her conversation, maybe so into her chat that she wouldn't notice him walk past.
Hope took a deep breath as he walked past rarity, his side slightly rubbing against hers as he casually walked past.
... Yep, definitely the sort Ribbon would be having metal paroxysms over. While it was kind of generic rhetoric, the sort anyone with a collage education could have spit out, the source of it being one with as lordly a title as his added a certain weight all the thick tomes of Equestria couldn't put into any amount of words talking the body politic. Cue the internal fangirling. Or was it fanboying? "That's... very well put, Obsidian." The young lady nodded slowly, his words apparent food for her thought. "I'm heartened to hear such an honest appraisal from one whose background would stand so... apart from mine, even that of Lady Rarity's."
While the convoluted labyrinths of his mind dissected in detail the enigmatic mechanisms of his attraction to other living beings, Ribbon cast an appraising eye over the group. It was quite the building group, mostly of young gentlemen who could well have been the Lady's suitors in a different context (read, a bit more drink down the gullet) and two beautiful young ladies of high taste. Wait. One young lady. Damned incomprehensible gender construct.
"Uh..." Ribbon mumbled, still distracted heavily by his highly involved internal monologue, the details of could be considered too lurid for public consumption. "Glass of Hayman's 1850 for me, sir." Why yes, he was ordering strong drink right off the bat. He'd probably be through several before the night was up, at the rate things were devolving within his own mental construct. He idly bowed to Glowing Flask, a gesture he quickly corrected into a curtsey; seen to all as another spastic half-gesture of greeting due to the conflict between acting muscle groups.
"It seems we were all a bit distracted that day then," Ribbonfree laughed airily. "My thought were... well, a bit too crass for repeat. I have never quite dealt with a case of stage fright as paralyzing as my first day on the job."
"Likewise Captain and Miss Rarity is absolutely correct, I look forward to taking up your offer! B-but of course, we can always do that later, the other guests may not be as enthusiast as me when it comes to flying mechanics and voice transmission, eh-eh '' Glowing also did a polite bow in direction of Ribbon in response to his somewhat weird curtsey and another to the other ponies.
"As for drinks, I'll take some Apple Family Cider. Gotta start with the classic from Ponyville."
"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" Lone Star shouted as he ran through the streets of Canterlot.
"Why'd they have ta make the city so...huge? Ah doubt ah'd be able to make it to this fancy dinner party thing and not be late! Not to mention the rudeness of them city guard. Ah'm a Ranger! Ah earned my spot here!"
Stopping to take a breather, Lone Star held his head up to look around.
"Now, accordin' to this here invite, it was supposed to be somewhere around he-" Lone Star gasped as he saw the mighty airship before him. Uttering a low whistle, he readjusted his hat.
"Woo, ain't you a tall one! That is one crazy contraption if ah ever did see one! Ah guess I'm supposed to go here, seeing as there ain't another one."
Walking toward where the gangway was, Lone Star was stopped by two guards blocking the way, as well as a young stallion talking to them. Pulling out his invitation from his tux, he walked over to the small group.
"Ah think this here covers everything. Ah was invited here, see and..." Lone Star trailed off as the two guards remained stoic as always, regarding both the stallion and Lone Star quietly.
Ouch. This is a tough one, the mare thought to herself. One on hoof, she didn't want to risk being kicked off the ship, or worse. On the other hoof, she also didn't want to give it up her weaponry; she was only practiced in basic magic spells like telepathy and bubble-conjuring. Magical blasts were out of the question.
She dreaded the thought of relying on somepony else for protection. Certainly no one in such a large group of strangers could care enough for her to step in and save her.
Still, Shady couldn't take any chances. She had an important task to carry out here, and she was sure everything would be fine. Surely nopony would be foolish enough to attempt an assault while onboard such a heavily guarded airship. The security was intimidating enough while standing still; she couldn't imagine how terrifying they must be when answering the call of duty.
Okay Shady, this is it. You're giving up your only means of self-defence. Let's hope you don't regret this.
"Here you go...um...sir." She reluctantly presented the guard with her knife. "Um... Am I free to go now?"
It seemed the ladies where quite unconfortable talking about their first meeting, Obsidian decided to drop the issue. The cruise was supposed to be a merry get together, he would not want to make his fellow guests embarrassed.
"Well, Lady Ribbonfree, Lady Rarity, maybe we can talk later about that particular part of your shared background if you wish." he replied with an earnest smile.
The stallion turned to the tech-savy newcomer  "Also, Mr. Glowing Flask, im pleased to meet you, im Baron Obsidian von Himmel, Obsidian will more than suffice though." He reached out his hoof to greet him "I also could not help but to notice your excellent taste in bewerage, love for the good old ponyville cider is something we share it seems."
Shining Midnight trotted up and into the ship. He immediately spotted the group of ponies gathering around and greeting Rarity. He silently trotted up to the group, trying not to make anypony aware of his presence. As he did love the jobs that he did, and had, but the admirers are just annoying. And who knows? Some of these ponies could be admirers, and even if they weren't, he didn't want to take a chance. He looked around the group, seeing if he knew any of them, besides Rarity. He didn't. Just great, a group full of ponies yet he only knew one of them. He trotted silently around the group and stopped next to the Captain. "She givin' you a hard time?" he whispered into the captains ear, making it unclear what he was talking about...
Glowing extended his hoof to meet Obsidian's in a polite manner. "The pleasure is mine Ba... Obsidian. I can never get enough of that cider. Every year a certain pink pony seem to buy most of it though. It's always a pleasant surprise to lay an hoof on a bottle in the off-season."
"I remember the cider season from the time when i was still living in ponyville, quite some time ago." Obsidian said with a somewhat sorrowfull voice. "If it is still like it was way back then, i can imagine the reason why it is so scarce outside ponyville. Most of it always was bought from the locals right away." He chuckled "The odd bottle that manages to make its way to Canterlot is always quite favoured by the local Connoisseurs though. The real Apple familiy cider just has something... I don't know how to describe it... One can feel the special care involved, It would be quite hard to find something of compareable quality in all of Equestria, i'd say."
