Blaze saw the filth almost touch his skin, he stood up and walked towards Lightning Bliss ominously. "I thought being able to control your magic was something a foal learned when she performed her first spell. I guess I was wrong...." Blaze got closer to Lightning with a blank stare, "Next time I suggest concealing your presence to those you perceive as a threat." He walked off to another corner not saying a word.

Her horn still continued to beam brightly as Blaze...or what seemed to be Blaze...approached her, with his stinging words.

 

"I...I...I didn't meant to... I was a pegasus...wh-when I ascended and-" as he cut her off and added in his last sentence, and stomped off. She struggled to her hooves wobbly, shaken and hurt...tears running down her face. "I didn't mean to... I didn't...OH!" She shook the mud from her rump, and galloped away, taking off into the air quickly.

 

She headed for a small cloud that was above the forest where she could still spot the group. Landing roughly, she buried herself into the soft cotton ball of weather, with only her tail sticking out. She was scared...and hurt...all at the same time.

Hurricane continued to watch the commotion. She heard their voices in the distance and heard Blaze's insults. She almost rushed over to him to give him a peace of her mind until she noticed an obviously hurt Lightning Bliss fly off into a cloud to bury herself in it. Hurricane sighed. "I'm gonna have to comfort her, aren't I?" she said to herself. She didn't know what exactly she would do, but she figured she better do something. She flew over to Lightning Bliss and pulled up a cloud next to hers and sat on it. Hurricane felt rather awkward and out of place. "Keep your head up, Princess. Your tiara is falling." she said giving a small smile. The truth is, Hurricane just remembered seeing that phrase on one of those inspirational posters, but it was better than nothing.

She sniffed abruptly, only poking her head out slightly, "What tiera...this thing?" She pulled it off with her hoof, "it's a stupid piece of trash!" She abruptly without a second thought, threw it away, watching it fall to the forest below, continuing to cry.

 

"I don't need any help...if that's what...you-your thinking!" She chocked on her sobs, "I'm just some stupid, thick headed princess to you...Can't even control her magic..." she repeated the stinging words of Blaze, "why you bother caring...?"

Everlast watched Blaze imtimidate Bliss, and though it saddened him, he was not going to get involved. Unless Blaze began to physically harm others, he was not going to intervene. He continued watching events unfold as Bliss retreated and Hurricane followed. He did get up when he saw a glint falling from the sky. He chased it down and saw A princess' tiara lying on the ground. If this was thrown away on purpose, no one will mind if I have it. If it fell accidentally, I can return it when they look for it. With such thoughts, he placed the tiara in his bag and returned to the clearing.

Hurricane looked down for second and thought about what Lightning bliss had said. Then, she looked back up to Lightning Bliss. "Look,  I'm a stupid, thick headed Pegasus." she said casually. "You're not. you're Lightning Bliss, Princess of Peace" she added.   "And why do I care? I care because you have ponies that depend on you to be strong for them. You're a Princess for Celestia's sake, you can't just let one pony knock you down." Hurricane spoke with confidence and meaning behind her voice. "You have ponies who adore you and look up to you. You have to be strong for them." She then looked down again thinking about how she bullied the Princess before and was now giving her a pep talk.

She sniffed hard and stuffy, the cold finally had wore off but it still left her clogged in the nose, the crying didn't help either.

 

"This group doesn't need me...they have real alicorns down there..." she gestured down towards Clover and Blaze makeshiftly, "they are real alicorns, I'm just a screw up... I don't even know why the...unknown magics of Harmony chose me to Ascend..." she sniffed. "Blaze is right...a foal unicorn would be able to control magic like this... I don't have a cluew with it...*sniffs*...Just...just...just go on without me! I'll put the rest of you in danger...*sniffs* I'll just...fly back home..."

 

She wobbly got up...and prepped her wings.

Blaze shook his head, 'I don't get why you bother with these fools Blaze, they are not royalty, hardly if so. Your abilities alone are solid enough to at least control. That amateur on the cloud doesn't have a clue about magic.' The spirit thought.

 

'They're not weak if they can't match your skill level! They all have different skill sets that they've worked their life to achieve! You're an ass hole to say that to Lightning Bliss! Do you have any idea how hard she tries!...'

 

'And still she can not control a simple detection spell!!!!' The spirit cut off.

 

'You just don't get it do you? Lightning Bliss's power is Peace, to settle a situation before it advances to something worse. Clover, protecting others, a selfless champion who puts all needs behind those she protects. Hurricane, an amazing flyer with true power, power she works and struggles for. Everlast, an outstanding writer with intellect far surpassing yours! And even if he's not the most physical, he carries far more than his weight!' Blaze finished.

Raze awoke slowly, amidst all the arguing going on in the group. He sat up, shaking his head at what was going on, then stood and walked towards all the commotion.

 

"Hey!" he said forcefully, looking at all of them. "Stop arguing with each other. What's the problem?"

Hurricane immediately jumped into action when she noticed Lightning about to leave. She sprung forward and grabbed on to her tail with her mouth to keep the alicorn from going anywhere. "Woah there, Princess." she said pulling backward. "Your not going anywhere." Hurricane released Lightning's tail. "You're important here. Everypony here wants you to stay." she started. "Don't you see the ponies who look up to you and believe in you. you're a strong confident Princess. You have wonderful friends that support you and believe in you." Hurricane managed a small smile.

Clover had caught the argument; she was about to intervene when she saw Raze approaching Blaze and decided to leave it to him. He was the leader after all, and would do a lot more good than she would. She looked up at where Hurricane and Lightning sat with frustration; she could see that Lightning wanted to leave and that Hurricane was trying to stop her. If only she could help! But she'd have to get up there, first. Hurricane and Lightning had promised to help her fly, but so far, there hadn't been time... and if Lightning managed to leave, there never would be. Besides, Clover would miss her friend.

 

Experimentally, Clover flexed her wings. She looked up again. "It's only a short flight, you can do it," Clover told herself, even tho she was trembling all over with fear. She flapped her wings and shut her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, she was above the treetops and cried aloud in terror. Clover struggled to control her flight, shivering as she did so, only her instinct stopping her from falling and over her need to help a friend driving her on. Eventually, she managed to reach the clouds where the others sat and flopped down in relief. Altho she had come up here to offer support, Clover was unable to speak a word, instead sitting there shaking with fear and waiting for the trembling to stop.

Bliss was just about ready to snap at Hurricane for pulling her tail. It actually hurt unaware to Hurricane's knowledge. Unlike most pony tails that were bone short and were covered with hair, here's was a longated cat like tail, her fluff ending at the very tip. The tail itself was longer then her own body length. But as her ears went back and she was about to cry out, her ears perked up as she saw the struggling alicorn Clover, fly up to meet them, and drop in a heap of sweat and terror on the cloud next to him.

 

"CLOVER??!!" Bliss's jaw dropped and darted to her aid and held her tightly to keep her from panicing, "you flew up here by yourself??? You crazy??? We know how inexperienced you are! What were you thinking??? Hurricane!" Bliss darted to the black pegasus, forgetting all her problems and doubts between Blaze, her only concern was on Clover's wellbeing, "gods she flew up here by herself! That's gotta be over 10 stories up!"

Hurricane noticed Clover and looked at her with a little bit of a shocked look. She was about to say something before Lightning Bliss started going off. Hurricane leaned back a bit when Lightning Bliss got up in her face. "Ya, I know." she replied casually. "It's a good start, but there is still a ways to go." She looked back at Clover. "But I guess it's not half bad, Princess." Hurricane said not trying too sound too impressed. "Now calm down before you shake yourself through the cloud." she smiled.

@@Lightning Bliss, @, Clover concentrated and soonn stopped trembling. "Thank you," she said to the other two mares. "I think I'm alright now, but I think I will rest a bit before I try and get down there again. I just saw that Lightning was trying to leave and I didn't want to lose such a good friend. You too, Hurricane, I count as a friend," she added.

"Oh...right..." Bliss patted her back, realizing her plans on 'leaving' where somewhat short lived. Just then she overheard Raze calling at all the group to tone the arguing, which reminded her why she flew up into the clouds in the first place.

 

"I'm sorry for making a scene," she said to both of them, "it's just...something is wrong... My horn... I...I can't control it at times, it has a mind of its own...It senses things like unbalance in the magic of peace within our lands...For some reason...it bursted out near Blaze...almost like it was warning me...Then he said those awful things and I just..." She looked down, saddened again.

 

"Anyways...It won't be so hard getting down Clover." She smiled to the calmed alicorn, "we'll help you down. It will be easy, we'll just glide down to the others. When you're ready of course."

'I feel sorry for you Blaze. Peace, selflessness, prowess, and ambition.... Illusions Blaze. Vagaries of perception, temporary constructs of a feeble pony intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. Only a pony mind could invent something insipid as ambition.' The entity blocked out Blazes voice and started paying attention to his surroundings.

When Hurricane heard Clover mention her as a friend, she just looked down at the ground and refused to look at anypony. She didn't know how she felt about being referred to as a friend. She felt that she wasn't worthy of being anypony's friend. Let alone the friend of a princess. Hurricane was snapped from her thoughts when Lightning bliss spoke up. "Well, I don't have a horn to tell me right from wrong, so...I can't help you with that." she said. Hurricane then turned to Clover. "Ya know, I like to use the baby eagle technique. It works like a charm." she had a sly smile.

@, @@Lightning Bliss, Clover smiled at both the mares. "I think that I'm alright now, so if you two will help me, I will glide down to the ground. I don't think that I will be frightened of flying any more, but I won't be trying anything til you two teach me properly. Hurricane, I will keep that in mind; after all, you and Lightning are the experts, here."

Bliss smiled and tuned to Hurricane, and nodded to her that she was ready to take off whenever she was. She stood up slowly, encouraging Clover to do the same. "Ok just take a deep breath..." she coaxed Clover, "don't think about the ground...don't think about falling. Close your eyes and clear your head. You are not meant to fall, you can't fall.." she tried a meditating technique her father taught her when he first started encouraging her to fly, "you will never fall...because your wings are strong. Now...Stretch them out..." She in turn opened her wings and stretched them out flat and parellel against each other. The wind softly blowing through her white feathers, "Feel the wind through your wings...feel their connection...they are like butter to bread...They are just meant to work together."

 

Then softly, Bliss let go of the cloud, allowing the wind to pick her up. Without flapping, she displayed how the wind was merely holding her up, like her wings were a personal parachute. "Don't fear the wind...use it...it is there to help you. Not make you fall." At that she flapped back up as she was decending slightly, and hovered in front of Hurricane and Clover smiling. "I know I kinda sound old fashion... Hurricane could probably teach you better on manuvers and tricks. At this point um..." She rubbed her head blushing, "I'm basically doing what my dad did when he started to teach me to fly... I was scared and feared of falling too."

"I have a different method." Hurricane said. "It teaches what's most important. How to recover from being knocked out of the sky." she smiled in way that appeared as if she was hiding something. "It also builds confidence." Hurricane then turned to Clover. "First, listen to me." she then got a serious look on her face. "You have wings. Just like Lightning Bliss showed you, even if you can't flap them, just spread them. Second, it's all about staying calm. do you understand?" she asked. Hurricane was really eager to show Clover what the eagle method really meant.

Raze breathed deeply as part of the group helped Clover learned how to fly. In the meantime, he decided to browse Starswirl's notes while everyone else was busy. They still had a long road ahead of them, after all....

Suddenly, he heard an abnormal rustling in the bushes. He looked at where the noise was coming from. Something was not right... they were being watched once more...

Royal had teleported the gang into an alleyway in Manehattan, somewhere close to where Raze's group would be heading in the future. Quickdraw stepped forward to face him.

 

"Alright, so if they're gonna be heading here, what the heck are we gonna be doing in the meantime? Watching a play?" he asked sarcastically, polishing his large shotgun.

 

Royal Flush adjusted his hat. "I reckon," he said, making a comeback to the sarcastic remark. "But seriously, we're gonna wait it out until they arrive, then confront 'em. Make it swift."

 

"I'll make it swift for 'ya..." he said, walking out of the alleyway, with Royal stopping him.

 

"And where do you think you're going?" he asked him, slightly angry.

 

"Solving your problem," he said. "My trigger hoof is restless, I'll have you know..." He walked passed him. Royal looked at Steel Tempest, who shrugged.

 

"He may be my partner, but he isn't my responsibility. I can't control what he does..."

 

"Don't worry," he said to both of them. "I'll just lure 'me over here. Gain their trust, lead them to where y'all are, then we can get on with it. You said they were in the forest near here?"

 

"That's where I last saw 'em. They couldn't still be traveling, not after my little encounter with them.

 

Quickdraw nodded silently, then left the alley without another word...

Now, here he was, silently watching them through the bushes, now deciding to reveal himself. Slowly he rose and started to approach them, though it looked as if no one could see him...

@@Lightning Bliss, @, Clover stood up, listening to what the others said and trying to gather her courage. She spread her wings, and stood for a moment as the wind gently blew thru the white feathers. Then she stepped off the cloud, her wings outspread, just floating on an air current before she flapped her wings. Clover forced herself to not look down, but instead at Hurricane and Lightning.

"That's it!" Bliss encouraged Clover, "just take it easy, keep those wings out! If you feel like you need to flap, do so, but have faith in the winds... And trust me and Hurricane. We won't let you fall." At that Bliss flew underneath Clover and popped up flapping next to her as they floated slowly downward towards the others. "You're doing great Clover!"

Just then, Bliss spotted a new pony entering into their campsite, he seemed to be of the souther type...holding a strong firm stance. Her ears flickered the last time a pony came into their group like this, and wondered whether or not to encourage Clover to flap and hover for a second. "Who is that...?" She gestured to Hurricane, pointing to the stranger.

"Ah a restless pony wandering into our little camp. How convenient.... I hope he doesn't have the intent on trying to kill us, that wouldn't fair very well for him."

 

Blaze got up from his corner and confronted the stranger. "State your business wanderer, I do not take kindly to new travelers."

Hurricane was watching clover with a bored look until Lighting Bliss pointed out the stranger. She looked at him and her curios face immediately went annoyed. "Ugh, ponies are coming to this group like moths to a flame. I never signed up to be this social." she remarked. "Don't expect to be talking to him anytime soon." Hurricane then turned around to check on check on Clover quickly before turning back toward Lighting Bliss and the stranger.
