PS: They are probably just jealous of us because they didn't have shows like that when they were young so they don't want you to have the joy of watching it.

I've heard of parents frowning on thier kids watching cartoons full stop, let alone single out MLP.

 

People should be allowed to watch whatever cartoons they want but upto a point, after all, chances are its your parents TV and electricity so they are intitled to what is shown on it as much as that might suck for some peeps

I fully support parents' right to moderate the media that they wish their children to be exposed to, while the children in question are still legally minors. That's how parenting works, you know. Once they're legally adults, then sure, they should be allowed to watch whatever the heck they want, in a free will kind of manner.

Well...I don't think America is as free as you make it out to be. We were founded on freedom, and abide by our own rules like many other countries. I'm not sure how America being the land of the free has anything to do with being a brony, but if your talking about those who are getting fired and kicked out of places for being a brony, than that would be considered unconstitutional and discrimination. Not only that, but unfair.

You have to understand they come from a different Generation that has different standards, they know if you watch and like something that doesn't make you gay. Which isn't I guess a bad thing. It's just they don't understand it, my Father saw me and my friend watching one of the anthologies and when It made a reference to something he's seen, he laughed. Ah, I see. Well, not exactly. You see, people have their limits and some like to cross the line when it comes down to the word "freedom". Ideally when we are talking about children, even if what their parents say oppose towards them, they must also want to respect their opinion and wishes as well. I'm not saying that we should be mindless zom-zoms to our parents, of course we have minds of our own! I'm just saying that as long as you are under their roof, you must abide by their rules. Until then, they are basically the boss of you. 

I mean, you can't exactly argue with mom and her almighty baby maker. xD

MLP ís quite weird. Brightly coloured ponies that spout the most random of stuff? Yeah. I mean, you can't blame the people who don't know anything about it, right?

If I were a parent, I'd rather have my child reading a book or watching a documentary. (Or studying or playing an instrument, or whatever parents these days want their children to do.)

 

And maybe, for guys, it might look a little... gay. (Ohgodpleasedonthatemeforthis.)

Coming from a place which is pretty homophobic, most people (Especially the elders.) don't want their sons to come in contact with anything that's pink, unless it's a girl.

(Disclaimer: I myself don't hate anyone's sexual preference.)

 

Plus, "If it makes them happy, let them do it."

Well, the problem is, who decides when something is negative for you?

I'm sure most of you will be like "Drugs are bad and everyone who does drugs needs to stop!" (The 'bad' kind of drugs, of course.)

And I know a lot of you like doing marathons and such, which are bad for your health as well. (Not sleeping and staring at a screen non-stop for hours just can't be good.   )

And, obsessing over anything is bad for you as well, so if you're constantly talking about it, it might give off a weird vibe. 

 

While it's bad to just blatantly hate the show, you shouldn't berate anyone who doesn't like it, either.

Because then you're just as bad as them.

 

If your parents have such trouble with you watching such a show then you'll either have to keep it secret, or move out.

My dad used to get onto me about watching it just because he didn't see any boys in the episode The Show Stoppers however once we actually were just chilling on the couch together watching the first episode Trixie appeared and he was cool with it so yeah I guess it's just the characters genders however my sisters watch Regular Show with basically no girls so it's kind of strange.

Adding on to this... you're living in their house (assumedly) and you live by their rules because of that.... so if they're telling you not to watch it, and you are, then there's a problem... 

 

Have you even tried to discuss it with them? And by discussion, I don't mean arguing, because that will get you farther away from what you want (trust me).

But if a show is totally innocent and there's nothing wrong with the kid watching it, if it's not detrimental in any way at all to the kid, then that's bad parenting for the parent to not allow them to watch it, in my opinion. I think good parenting includes not suppressing a child's interests, so long as it's not an unhealthy interest. Also, once the kid's a teen, especially if they're in their late teens... a parent really has no business saying what shows they can watch, unless it's a really bad show, or porn or something, but in terms of a cartoon, a teen can make that decision themselves.

1. A waste of my time. 

2. I only  watch it because I want attention.
