Should there be an episode all about the guys?

OKAY SO I LIED about that one being the last response to you.

However, THIS reply to you is actually not even focused on MLP.

The problem is that some people don't actually hate males... they just... don't want change. They are actually shallow and hollow people that don't actually have something to express other than seeking to patronize a show according to their tastes. I am sorry if i don't exactly agree on that attitude.

You chose the wrong word choice, sir.  People "who don't want change" (or people or "don't like change") are not shallow and hollow people.

I am pretty hard rooted in following traditions... for their own sake, and for the sake of tradition itself.  I do not like change.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But it IS relevant! Remember when Twilight became an alicorn? Or when Discord got "reformed" the first time round? Remember the drama? Okay so not everyone who hates change is shallow or hollow but people who actually obstruct change and advancement are really really close minded. I don't mind if you follow or like traditions but the advancement of a character, the plot, e.t.c. requires change. Thus change has to happen in order for something to happen. Things CAN'T always stay the same.

 Finally I can say:

It looks like we've come to an agreement.  You are correct, in that things obviously can't always stay the same.  I just wasn't being explicit enough in my previous post; changes that take place inside a television show are to be expected.  When I say "I don't like change" I don't mean I want absolutely everything to stay the same, lmao.  That'd be ridiculous  ... Changes are naturally to be expected.

I just meant that I don't like "changes" that stray from hard set traditions in real life...

Traditions sometimes are important part of life and experiencing them is good. However that doesn't always mean we have to. In any case they shouldn't be straight out dismissed if they are not harmful just because some hipsters decided to do so.

The problem is that with changes comes drama and with drama i facepalm. Sometimes i suspect that the people who don't want male characters are just causing drama so i dismiss their arguements. While an episode doesn't have to be entirely male for this change to refresh things it could be shared with someone.

Example of an episode that involves male characters. "Cadence's anniversary" like wedding anniversary say Shining wants to make a really special surprise to Cadence and implores the help of his sister. Or maybe they have a baby with Cadence and he starts asking nervously for help! That'd be awesome.

  • 1 year later...

Kinda found this topic after searching around.

Read OP's post, and I agree with Pathfinder in that, while it would be nice to have, I don't really see it happening. Characterization for a lot of the males is kinda lacking; it would be hard to build an episode centered on them (Big Mac being an exception, as shown in Brotherhooves Social).

Especially since we've already had Slice Of Life, an episode that took the spotlight off the Mane Six and the CMC, just six months ago.

Except this time it'll put focus on characters I actually care about :P  :please:

I don't think there's a problem with having a male-focused episode, I mean, there are plenty of established male characters that could use an episode that builds them up a bit more. Hell I'll be happy even if it's just S

Train conductor buys pastries from Gustav La Grande.

Spike's existential crises when you realizes he has no bros and Shining Armor's bachelor party would have been the worst.

Shining Armor takes Flash Sentry out to give me the "don't hurt my sister's feelings or I keel you" talk.

Igneous Rock Pie takes Big Mac out to give him the "don't hurt my daughter's feelings or I keel you" talk.

Personally, I would like an episode focusing on Shining Armor. The mane 6 could still be in it somewhere, but I think that at least one episode from Shining Armor's point of view would be cool because we really haven't seen him enough imo. As for Big Macintosh, I think Brotherhooves Social was decent enough for his episode. Just look at that, focusing on the male character a bit more did end up being pretty good.
