movies/tv Overused Movie Sound Effects.

You know what really grinds my gears?  Overused stock sound effects in movies.  The Wilhelm Scream is sometimes acceptable, in certain circumstances, as it's basically a homage.  But it's unbelievable how much they use old stock sounds from video games and the like for movies and tv.  And I'm talking big budget stuff as well.  They can't put a little effort into it?  They just google the sound effect they want and swipe the first thing that comes up.  When a movie director let's this happen, you know what it says to me?  It says, "I don't care.  Just use this abundantly recognizable, iconic video game sound from 1990.  Whatever.  I don't care."

Here's my list of top overused sound effects that annoy me when I hear them.

1.)

This is used in practically every movie that has a pig in it.

2.)

I don't know where this originated, but it's also the Starcraft Terran Academy scream.  It's everywhere.

3.)  The repeated cat sounds beginning at 1:54

Sooooo overused.  Over and over again you hear this multi-part cat yowl in EVERYTHING.  I know the one at 2:16, right after the hiss, is Evil the Cat from Earthworm Jim.  Don't know if that's the first time the sound was used.  And you know, I love this movie so much, but when I hear that, it kinda ruins the moment for me.  It's like, "Really?  You've gotta be kidding me."

4.)

Speaking of Earthworm Jim, the dog sound effect.  You know, those garbage mutts in New Junk City?  That sound is everywhere too.  Couldn't find a nice clip of it, though.

5.)

I can't believe how much this, and a couple other RCT screams pop up.  They will routinely play these sound effects in the background in movies when the characters are at a theme park.  So cheesy and lazy.

Whelp, those are best ones I could think of.  What overused sound effects do you notice?

Castle Thunder... quite possibly the most overused sound effect of all time. Mainly used in the classic Disney animated films.

A Foley Art topic! I'm all in.

I thought of Wilhelm too, but I have to admit I like being able to point out the Wilhelm Scream even though that very act can take me out of the experience. The others that can annoy me (apologize about the onomatopoeia ... but I honestly don't know if these sound effects have names)

Creaking Gate/Door/Floor.

The Bwawwwwwwmmmmmmmm Alien/Space sound.

One that thankfully went away were the horribly inaugurate Computer sounds. If a PC beeped every time I hit a key I would dig my own ears out with a needle.
