Eloquence looked up at Mirror, mouth agape. Nopony had ever done anything but believe her entirely when she lied to them. She was a professional storyteller, it was her job to make her words convincing. She had no idea what to say, but it didn't matter anyways. Her emotions made her throat close up, so she couldn't speak a word. Instead she just bowed her head, gritting her teeth against a flood of tears, letting just one of them fall into the grass below her.

"Look I am sorry, ok? I only guessed that because I have done the same thing, maybe for different reasons, but still. And remember what I used to do, I trained to notice everything, if the light had bothered you, it also would have during my show. And yes, I will admit to watching you while I was performing, but that isn't what matters, what matters is, what's wrong?" He walks closer to her asking, rying to show he cares.

Eloquence tried to speak, but after a few attempts that resulted in unintelligible noises she found that she would need an alternative. She pulled out her notebook and quill and opened to an empty page. She held the book open in front of him.

 

"I'm sorry, I can't speak while I'm upset. There's really nothing wrong though, I'm just being stupid..."

"It's alright. But how are you stupid? You ae clearly a snart mare and you have a lot of things going for you, trust me. I wouldn't lie to my friend, ok?" Mirror Image states, matter of factly. "Look, is there anything I can do to help, short of leaving you here alone?"

She sniffled and wrote another message, holding it up again.

 

"I don't think so. Not unless you know a spell that will make me brave or strong. Maybe something that would make me interesting, or loyal, or a good friend. Other than that I don't think anypony can do anything at all."

She nodded sadly and wrote a response.

 

"Listening is easy. It doesn't take anything to listen. Things like defending somepony else or knowing how to deal with danger or living a life where you create your own stories instead of stealing them from others... those things are hard."

She nodded, unsure of what to say to this. In lieu of saying anything, she put her writing tools down and flopped forward, leaning against Mirror's shoulder. Ellipsis, having finally come out of hiding after burying into her mane during the fight, comforted her by nuzzling into her cheek.

Unsure of what to say at this point, Mirror Image wrapped a hoof around her, "look, you're a great pony, and anypony would be lucky to be your friend. Besides, you have at least one pony who cares about you, and I betbyou could ask Bliss and she would say she care too. I don't care if a pony is strong if they are a jerk, or if they are average and nice and caring. Allvthat matters is the.personality ,ok?"

Belle Really wanted to sock the self righteous stallion right in the throat. But she calmed herself down. She had a plan that she needs to stick to. The didn't answer the stallion but she did pulls on his suit caller lightly and turned around and head for the garden. She stop and tuned back and wiggled her flank a little and winked, Then she kept walking. Hopping he would fall for it.

"Ohhh..." Chase grinned, feeling even more confident at the way the mare presented herself so shyly, "playing the silent game with me are we?" He quickly trotted after her, almost poking her rump after she shook it moments later. "Where is the quiet filly taking me to hmm? I don't like to be kept waiting..."

 

Meanwhile Bliss had just walked into another door of the otherside of the Ball room, when she spotted her rival quickly stalking the earth pony Belle she had only met moments before. "Oh no...what is she? How did he? Gah!" She quickly darted herself out the door, galloping in panic to find Mirrors and Eloquence...To her relief they were still in an isolated part of the gardens, but she could clearly see Belle seemed to be walking in to another part of the gardens as well...with Chase in hot pursuit.

She galloped towards Mirros and Eloquence, her wings powering her speed. "HELP!" She whinnied as she skid to a stop between them, facing Eloquence and her back to Mirror Image. "Help *pants* help help...Belle...Chase...I don't know what's going on but... Belle...Seemign to...Chase following *pants pants*"

Turning towards Bliss, "What? Great, now what? Look, I got him before by luck. I might be able to again, but I will need a hell of a massive recharge. And of course he has to pull crap when I am talking to somepony. Look, last time i affected more than it should ever have, I need to find a way to take care of him but only if he starts another fight. I have a feeling that Belle has a plan, but just in case, keep an eye on them."

 She lead the read maned unicorn deep into the garden where there was a good sized pond that she sure dad some mud in it. She then took off her hat and veil and put them under a tree. Then she took off her wrap and put it with them. Luckily she could hold in her shouting ticks. She could do it all the time instead of wrapping her mouth, but she didn't like holding it in. IT made her face twitch a lot and it hurt a little. But now she had to do it to show this stallion a lesson. As she spoke she hid her Cajun accent and used a Prench one instead. 

 

"I hope you didn't mind the wait, handsome. " She walks over to him swaying her hips with each step. "If you'd like to know my name, you'll have to gives yours first." She said as she ran a hoof though her mane and fluttered her eyelashes at him.

"I would love to, but I am waiting for some-pony, so I really don't have the time at the moment, but I will consider it later tonight. If you will excuse me."

 

He gave her a slight calm bow as he begun walking away. 

 

As he made some distance he started looking around for his "date" once more. Looking at a distant clock-tower he noticed that not much has passed yet and that the mare was simply getting late. 

 

He turned once more to seemed to be a loud situation that attracted two guards. He followed it and found a pony bugging the Princess that he clearly remembered from a year ago, so called 'Lightning Bliss'. 

 

He noticed that the situation was dealt with soon after and the "attacker" went away and he gave himself some time for himself, remembering the last horrible gala. 

 

After about several minutes of daydreaming he woke up, looked around and still couldn't find anyone of interest. As he walked along the gardens something cought his eyes again. The annoying stallion from some time ago. He decided to stop and look at the scene in front of him. Simple flirting, but he felt like there was something else to it.

 Silver Tongue did not see a reason nor, an opportunity to give his impute, so he simply wandered off. Besides, Silver had a to deal with someone before that someone became another problem.

 Silver Tongue saw the display from a nearby crowd, so he wouldn't be signaled out. Silver did not know what the plain was, but was fairly confident that it wouldn't pan out, so he waited patiently for his opportunity.

"Uh..." Chase took a step realizing this mare was more serious then he was ready for. He didn't expect her to be so bold, but rather shy and timid, which was always his favorite varity of mares he prefered to pursue. After regaining some confidence back, he shook his head, snorted and stomped a hoof in front of himself, holding his head high and proud. "Surely you've heard of me baby... I am the Monster Hunter, Chase Razor! The strongest, most magical stallion throughout Equestria! I fear no pony or monster that dares to challenge me!" Feeling his ego getting more boost by his own words, he continued to flirt with the mare and his poweress.

 

"Ever seen a unicorn take on a real Uersa Major? Well you're looking at one... This beast you see," he walked behind her, sizing her up and checking out her back end 'qualities' with admiration and approval as he spoke, "invaded a pack of diamond dogs that were in the midst of gem hunting. They...heh, begged me to save their mining operation...So with a wave of my massive magical ability, I conjured a giant razor sword, made of fire! And banished the beast back to where it came!" He reared up and whinnied, then stomped the ground before settling down in front of Belle.

 

"Now that you know who I am...It's your turn little filly... :comeatus: " He leaned into her face, a earning smile as he stared at her, waiting for her response.

Eloquence wobbled a bit as she lost the support of the pony she was leaning against, but managed to catch herself. She pulled herself together, thankful that Mirror had been able to comfort her and pull her out of her depression, at least enough to speak again without any quiver in her voice. She took a breath and straightened herself.

 

"I agree with Mirror. I can tell that Belle is a smart mare, and I trust her to handle herself. That said, Chase Razor is clearly volatile, more so than Belle might expect given that she wasn't directly present for your confrontation with him. We ought to keep an eye on her, as much as possible without giving ourselves away. We'll need the element of surprise, not to mention we could accidentally ruin Belle's plan and thus put her in danger ourselves by showing affiliation with her. Mirror, I don't know how much energy you have, but you should ask us to do anything small, to save your strength, for the show tonight if nothing else." she leaned in towards Mirror as she spoke until she was close enough to whisper "and thank you" without Lightning Bliss seeing or hearing.

"Until that damned foam gives me a reason otherwise, my main priority is Eloquence. If he tries anything, I honestly do nit know what I can do. I am running on empty, and I doubt he is dumb enough fir the same trick to work twice.... thats it! He isn't dumb enough, hmmm if this goes bad, I can scare him off again, but I need magic. And like I said, I'm running on empty, so any ideas?"

Eloquence blushed and looked down and to the side towards Mirror. "I'm fine, Mirror, really. Right now we need to worry about Belle. She could be in great danger, as could Lightning and yourself. He has no reason to go after me, so I should be at the bottom of your priority list. I'm not in any danger, or at least very little." She closed her eyes, thinking. "I can't really think of a plan, except to call the guards if it comes to it. They'll be able to protect us if need be. Together, I believe Lightning and I can create a distress signal strong enough to be seen by every guard from anywhere in the Gala. That should be our fallback plan."

"He needs to be dealt with, and either way, I do not plan on leaving your side. Besides, he called me a lackey, like I'm some sort of servant, thinking he is better than everyone, I know one pony that could deal with him, and he doesn't even use magic. But only if it comes down to it."

"Chase would love it if I called out the guards though..." Bliss shrugged at the thought, "he wants me to cry for help like a filly running to her mother. He loves to see me ask for help, that way he knows he's got the upper hoof... No..." She stomped her hoof and turned, slowly heading towards where Chase and Belle were in the gardens. "I'm going to keep an eye on them, and should Belle need assistance... I'll do what I can. I can teleport her out of there if I have to, but after that all my magic will be used up. Or worse case I can conjure a shield for a short amount of time.... Point being... Chase is probalby just flirting with her...but if he finds out that I befriended her or any of you... he'll hurt you too...just to get back at me."

 

Her ears lowered, but her tail flickered like a lioness on the prowl. Now wasn't a time to be scared...she had to face her nemesis one way or the other.

"Sigh, im going to fight him. I was raised to be a good pony, a better one than I am, it's about time I acted it. I can beat him, if he is as smart as he looks, only because a simple mind trick, yet again, but this time, it wont be as much fun for him, I am not letting any of my friends fight him, even if it wasn't my problem it became mine when I beat him."

Eloquence sighed, feeling the need to shrink back again. Instead, she gritted her teeth and steeled her resolve, stepping in front of the two ponies. "I want both of you to stop for a minute and listen to me. I understand your desire not to appear or feel weak, and your resolve to protect those you care about by your own power at any cost." she said, nodding to Bliss and Mirror in turn. "But you both have to promise me you'll keep your heads going into this. No amount of wounded pride is worth any of us getting hurt, including yourselves. Chase Razor taunts his opponents at least in part because he knows it will cause them to behave rashly. You cannot let his words get to you." She looked them each in the eyes in turn. "Words are my field of expertise, so believe me when I say they are only as powerful as their audience allows them to be."

Bliss listened to Eloquences advice, and nodded promptly. "She's right...We can't just rush in blindly...and we can't let his words get to us...I've let him do that my entire filly life in school..." She nodded reluctnantly as she crouched near a bush to get closer to where Belle and Razor were. "Let's not jump to any conclusions yet...Let's see where Belle takes this little game of hers... Personally I'm curious. I had no idea she was so brave or scheming to get back on a rogue stallion. Especially one as Chase with his bullying history...Nevertheless," she turned to Mirrors and Eloquence, "If something should go wrong and Belle needs our help...Please let me intervene first... He was my problem first and formost... I'm the one he wants. Let me be the first to intervene... Don't worry," she placed a hoof on both her newest comrades, "if something should happen, I won't hesitate to give a sign for help."

 

With that she crouched down and waited to see how the scene would unfold between Belle and Chase.

Chase was growing more agitated waiting for the earth pony to reply. He was attracted by her thick french like accent, it only enticed him to wait a bit longer, though he didn't feel bad about giving her more encouragement.

 

"I grow weary of waiting baby..." he snorted at her face playfully, "what's your name...Or do you even have a name? Personally I could imagin it to be...Flirty Lilly... Or Daisy Doll..."
