Is Equestria really Post-Apocalyptic Earth? [PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION!]

First of all, guys, the ponies had NOTHING to do with mankind's extinction. Mankind wiped THEMSELVES off the face of the Earth.

Second of all, Banul, did you even read the description? Also, swamp water isn't green, it's more like a muddy brown. It doesn't make any sense to me how green water is "swampy". Not to mention, the Everfree Forest isn't a swamp. It's a forest. Hence the name, Everfree Forest.

The FiM ponies need to come to Earth and kill humans...

I guess that is good.. still have something to do with science and nuclear warfare, but what ever.

Almost forgot, the "Transdimensional Mirror" is really a time machine. Twilight Sparkle didn't go to another world, she went into the past, before WWIII happened.

Nah, I dont think so. We see things like tires underground because the audience will recognize it. I imagine the writers put those things there as a joke. It's kind of like how sometimes we hear ponies use idioms that don't really make sense in their world (I.e. faster than a speeding bullet: ponies don't use bullets). As for the alligator in the green water, I think the water is colored that way to make it more swamp like, not to indicate nuclear waste.

 

This is a show for little girls based on a toy line of colorful horses. I very doubt that the writers would base it on a post apocalyptic earth, or that Hasbro would allow that.

Ah, the whole "Its for kids/girls" cop out. Hey Arnold! had attempted suicide, addition, and dysfunctional families and that was a kids show. Arthur has Dyslexia, Cancer, and death and that was a kids show. Its for kids is not an excuse.

So, consider that having green water might fit in with Everfree's more sinister atmosphere and color scheme. That's more of what I'm getting at, believing that the green water has a different explanation that it being nuclear waste.

My point wasn't that kids cartoons can't tackle important issues. For the record, I think its great when a kids cartoon can do those issues justice. My point was that having MLP set on a post apocalyptic earth doesn't really serve the purpose of the show. There isn't a reason to for a show about ponies learning how to interact with each other (and teaching kids to do that) to also be in that setting, it wouldn't add anything. It works for Adventure Time because of what that show is about. I don't know if I'm wording this very well, so I hope you see what I'm getting at.

You know what dude? I'm totally okay with your opinion. I'm sorry for speaking out, I'm just really passionate about this theory and I think that it is an awesome concept. So hey, if you don't like it, that's okay. I'm just glad you were being nice about it unlike other people I've seen. (Not on this forum) Also, Lyra would LOVE this theory!

Its cool, I wasn't trying derail your theory or anything. What you found IS interesting and its clear that you've put a lot of thought into it. I just think that its unlikely that it was the writers intention from a logistics point of view.

I'm pretty sure they aren't intending this. But people think that the Flinstones is really in the future, and it's supposed to be in the stone age. I know that the writers never intended something like that. It's just a theory! Whether it's true or not depends on your personal opinion. I personally think it's true. :3

It's proven the other worlds do exist- equestria girls and the MLP world, so isn't it safe to say that it's just another world?

And about you bone theory- no official bones of ponies have been officially released so you can't easily assume it's not that of a pony. And as for the tire... I've got nothing. I thing it's just something the writers threw in. But like you said, they don't always intend this stuff.

No. I refuse to believe the ponies from MLP FLM now walk on the ashes of humanity. Because that implies that the ponies are either those evil Conversion Bureau scumbags or somehow humans were mutated into cartoon horses by nukes.

 

Most canon Ponies are (lawful good) paragons of 'good', not those often (chaotic evil) renegades from fan fictions like the Conversion Bureau. So, no 'killing all humans' from sweet and good ponies thank you very much.

 

In short, MLP FIm's world is not Earth.

And i also love the Conversion Bureau even though I haven't even read much of it yet, but is sounds freaking amazing. All FiM ponies killing those corrupt, dick headed, scumbag humans. Oh man, I have to get to reading it soon.

I tend to think it might be post-human earth (not post-apocalyptic, necessarily, just post-human), if only because of the similar animals and the city names derived from modern city names. I don't tend to over think it when I watch an episode, though.

Personally, I don't think post-apocalyptic is a good theory, but whatever. Let's ignore that for a moment.

 

Assuming the planet on which Equestria resides is a version of earth, possibly in the future, need it be post-apocalyptic?

 

The ponies have not lived in the area known as Equestria forever.What if humans lived there, but for some reason moved away?

Possibly an alternate version of Earth (given the lack of magic here, I think that is more realistic), where maybe the humans left. Over time, even the greatest civilization would leave little trace.

 

So perhaps humans were concentrated in a smaller area, and left the planet, and ponies came and took over. And perhaps stories of the lost humans survived, being twisted and diminished until few remember at all...

For theorys like this, I had always just thought that due to whatever galactic scale calamity caused humanity to be wiped off the map, also mutated what remained of humanity/horses into the FiM ponies. It would explain alot of their human like features, and their poses.

 

It would also finally explain why all their cups and glasses seem to have handles, despite none of them having hands.

Well, you can have technological disparity in the past as compared to the present. Just look at the ancient world compared to the dark ages. The ancient world built large scale cities, had running water, and Greece even had a functioning steam engine. Compare that to the age that followed the dark/medieval ages were the closest thing you had to advanced tech was a bucket, a well, and books you were never allowed to see that were hidden away inside the monistary. If a massive calamity happens, and you end up loosing an entire technologically advanced species then technological backtracking is going to happen.

Are you honestly implying that if a world ending cataclysm happened, today's generation of internet dwelling kids would not regress at all? But instead after this end of the world technology would continue to advance, despite most if it not all of its innovators being dead? Because I don't think anyone has that sort of faith in the modern man, let alone his children.

Nice theory, but wouldn't explain any of the primarily magic based going ons in the show, like cutie marks and transdimensional space mirrors and beings that move the celestial bodies. There's too much that nuclear waste just wouldn't cover.

The magic could possibly be technology in disguise and the ponies themselves genetically engineered transhumans. 

 

I came up with that theory long ago.
