Because the entire thing felt like a fan fiction given life. It lacked the "down and out" feeling humanity had, and thus took away alot of the emotional impact of the Chiefs journey. And the designs for the promethian knights do not fit the classical halo 1-3 design and aesthetic that the forrunner constructs had. The entire story of halo 4 had alot of issues with pacing, and with 4 games in the series, and half their staff former bungie employes you'd think they could figure out pacing.

 

 

And then of course you had the gameplay issues, the weird ass design they gave the spartan's armor. The rather lame and frat boyish S-IVs, no mention of ODST's or other marine forces. And then of course the almost tacked on issue of "teh spartans are broken" that only shows up in the opening cut scene and the ending one. And other than a few in game mentions has no actual weight in the story.

 

oh im not saying i like the story (some of it was good) i did dislike the fact that they brought back the spartan program (screw the wannabe spartans...) and a few other things...i did like the progressive deterioration of Cortana being the secondary story (Cortana was  basically like family to John in my opinion)

Other than the degradation of Cortana, there really wasn't much I liked in terms of story in halo 4.

i agree completly... im just kinda watching what direction 343i takes the Forerunner saga...after Cortana died...i figured he'd actually confront Halsey about her

He could, had they not suddenly gone all Halsey hate and have her locked away in a ONI prison.

Well, according to the novels she had "kidnapped" Kelly, and had them all inside the dyson sphere at onyx. But it was only since Karen Traviss took the helm that ONI started its Halsey hate in her novels.
