Why do some bronies do this?

Not all of us "settle" for an "imaginary" relationship with a cartoon pony. There are some of us who legitimately CHOOSE this lifestyle over a "real", physical one.
We're few and far between, but we're here, and I ask that you do not judge us based on our alternative romantic interests.

Some of them were funny in an intentional way.  Like Fluttershy in the car with the big black guys, or Rainbow Dash at Tianneman square.  The rest, though....  Some of them were cute.  The ones where they didn't describe too much of their weird fantasies.  Mostly, though, please stop doing this fellow Bronies.

A better question is why do people keep thinking we are the first group of fans to do something like this?

Exactly. Bronies and Pegasisters are far from the first to do this! Why make a big deal about it now?

Because they are sad (possibly depressed) and life sucks without cartoon pone waifus. (I want a pony waifu)

I much rather see a self-insert drawing, then real life photo with a cartoon pony.

They are people you should feel sorry for. That or they are trolls that just want you to cringe.

Really Offensive

All fandoms have that "one side."  :okiedokielokie:

Offensive

Also i fail to see why this would qualify as that "one side"

people really,really,really,really like ponies.

sometimes, they like them a bit too much.

some of these edits are actually quite good, but if you really think that rainbow dash is your girlfriend, then i would advice you to ..maye spend a little less time on the internet? :(

i also think that this is not even comparable to the real problems the fandom has.

Eh not too offensive

I Personally think

A: Why should You care

B: Why does this mean that they're lonley?

C: Its probably just some people trying to do that "MLP In Real life stuff"

Its just harmless fun

People will do what they want, so meh.

Really, most of those were rather harmless; likely done for comedic effect and nothing more. Some, I will admit, might cross the line to extreme loneliness, BUT I guess there's worse things they could be doing (drugs, abuse, etc.,).

Why should all of them stop doing this?

Sure some of the photos may seem a bit strange to you, but what about the ones that are cute and funny?

That's like saying everyone should stop being Bronies because there's some people that seem odd to you within our fandom.

In a culture that promotes using fiction as a way to escape reality, should this really come as a surprise? Fiction is pretty much designed to seem more desirable and ideal than reality, after all. It's no wonder that some people are going to pretend their favorite fictional universe is real.

Hey, I like ponies too. Even in a romantic sense like Commander Shepard would.

Regardless, making a real life photoshopped picture of yourself with a cartoon pony is going to make you complete social outcast. Especially if many people know about it.

You're not, right. It doesn't necessarily mean one would like them 'that way'. However, some mean spitted people may think so.

Correct. Yes, but this makes you even more of a social outcast and a prime target for bullies.

It may be a bit of a broad generalization, but there is some validity to it. At least the way society is now, bronies aren't all that accepted. Especially in school settings, for that matter.

Yes, it probably will but there are so many things that will make someone a social outcast that really shouldn't even matter which is why I stopped caring about what will or won't make me a "social outcast" a long time ago. The whole photoshopping pony pics into realistic backdrops isn't my thing but if I wanted to do it badly enough than I would without any regard whatsoever how others would judge me.

People super-impose themselves all the time (the glories of photoshop and the horror of the hoverhand!)

Just as people would like to have a photo with a celebrity or role model, some just want something simplier and have a picture of themselves with a pony....

its either that or they build some inter-dimensional-multiverse-quantum-bridge.....

Alright, you're logic behind this is just getting silly.

It's not like people would shoot you the streets for making a freaking photoshopped picture of yourself hugging Twilight.

Geez dude, how little is your faith in humanity?

There's a huuuuuge difference between "social outcast" and "people would shoot you in the streets."

Not necessarily. Never underestimate the power of hate. Some people will sadly stoop to that level because of how much they hate certain people.

Okay, sure, the extreme of being a social outcast may, in extreme cases, result in being shot in the streets. But that's not broadly what "social outcast" means. In and of itself, it pretty much just means being left out of social groups. Not fitting in. Being rejected, often passively.

But still, it makes no sense why people would want to kill you for that reason.

True, but Rush wasn't saying anything about people getting killed for being bronies. Unless I missed something.

Maybe not, but there are plenty of people that will hate another person for stupid, arbitrary reasons and some of them will resort to violence unfortunately. I don't see most of the people that may have a problem with this going necessarily that far but there is the occasional disturbing incident like that one it talked about the in the brony documentary where this guy almost got shot because of his Luna bumper sticker. These sort of incidents are not widespread luckily but even the non violent ones like simple bullying can lead to cases like Michael Morones who tried to commit suicide because he was being bullied for being into ponies.
