I've recently started getting into Symphonic metal, after hearing Nightwish. Does anybody recommend anything similar?
 
I highly recommend checking this song out! The passion found within it's lyrics and melodies is enough to bring a tear to my eye.

Yes! What a genre My favourite band, Within Temptation, are a Symphonic Metal band. The female lead singer is fantastic, her voice is incredible. Their lyrics are quite Gothic at times which is pretty awesome, and fits the music really well

I may be mixing genres here but Epica is another good Symphonic Metal band. Symphony X is a popular one as well.

Symphonic Metal is an orchestral offshoot of Power Metal, which is my preferred genre, so I listen to it once in awhile but I'm not actually very well-versed in it. I hear a lot of Epica on my Power Metal Pandora station but that's the most I get out of it a lot of the time.

 

Angel Vivaldi is another good one that I'm not entirely sure is Symphonic but that's a non-vocal band. Look them up if you want some great guitar though.

Seems like a pointless distinction to make to me. Good music is good music regardless of what the lyrics are.

 

Oh wait, I forgot I live in a world that values lyrics more than anything else and I'm the minority for preferring the non-lyric side of music.

I didn't know Kamelot was Symphonic. I thought they were just Power. I probably would have mentioned them if I knew that. I never was good with genres.

Humans, whaddaya gonna do, eh? WHY CAN'T YOU ALL JUST ENJOY GOOD MUSIC!?

 

Pretty sure Within Temptation, who was previously mentioned in this topic, is also a Christian band. Won't stop them from sounding good.
