Are there any differences between Pegasi and Alicorn wings?

I recently rewatched "Testing, Testing, 1 2 3" and noticed that Twilight's Alicorn wings look considerably different then Rainbow Dash's Pegasi wings, and that got me thinking. Besides the design of the wings, are there any differences between the two? Because if you remember in the Season 4 finale, it is learned that Pegasi's ability to fly can be taken away from them, which makes the wings sort of a Knee-jerk reaction, so to speak.

So is there any difference between them?

They are visually different, seeing the size of Pegasus wings vs the size of alicorn wings. However, whether or not they are functionally different is really unknown. Alicorns are of intense magical power, but it's never stated if any of it actually comes from the wings themselves.

When Celestia, Luna, and Cadance are all drained, they are not seen flying. When Twilight gains the power of four alicorns, she flies much faster than she normally does, rivalling Rainbow Dash. However, most other times we rarely even see Celestia, Luna, or Cadance use their own wings (the former two have chariots and the latter a train), so we can't really know for sure. To this point, the only difference we see in alicorn wings is a larger size to give alicorns a more imposing presence. Because we don't know exactly how powerful they are, they really serve as a status symbol that identifies them as being powerful, but since we rarely see them being used, it's really a symbol that makes as much sense as a Lamborghini in stop-and-go traffic. It makes you look rich, but it has little more function than its more affordable counterparts.

The Alicorn wings are bigger and fuller because the animators probably wanted the princess's wings to be more graceful looking and more, well, princess-like.  It could also symbolize what position of power the pony is in. Take Twilight, Cadence and Luna, for example. Their wings are bigger than a Pegasus's because they have magic on the side, but their wings are smaller than Celestia's, because even though Celestia is an Alicorn like them, she has a greater power, and more of it too.

It seems that pegasi wings have magic, in Twilight's Kingdom they can't fly anymore once tirek have taken their power. Regular pegasi learn how to do things that aren't scientifically possible if the wings didn't have any magic. Such as some of the wonderbolt moves. Also in Twilight's Kingdom Twilight's flying ability gets boosted. Remember the scene where applejack tells Twilight "I didn't know you could fly that fast!" This proves that Twilight Sparkle got more power in terms of her flying ability. So yes, there is a difference in alicorn and ordinary Pegasi:)

The evidence from the show mostly suggests that alicorn wings are purely magical while pegasi wings are genetic.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

Alicorn wings are typically bigger and stronger than Pegasi wings, however Pegasi wings seem to possess magic as seen in the Season 4 finale when the pegasi's magic is drained by Tirek, they can no longer control the weather. Alicorn's wings also seem really feathery like a bird's wings.
