Yes, a thread about Big Mac and the MMMM. In the episode, Big Mac had trouble carrying the cake. But if balance were really the issue, as most bronies claim, why did Applejack use the word heavy rather than unstable?

All kidding aside, Applejack sometimes makes strange word choices.  For instance, she once erroneously referred to the Apple family gathering for the Sun Celebration as a reunion when that was just an additional event for the special occasion.  Then there's the theory that the MMMM includes dark matter as one of the secret ingredients.

I don't think balance or weight are serious issues in comparison to the fact that they couldn't just dead-lift it from opposite sides of the year e like we fingered people can.

Does it matter? So AJ made a poor wording - happens. Notice during Pinkie Apple Pie how he lifted that whole counter thingy? That's a lot heavier than a cake, i'm certain. That's strength - pure and simple.

Also lifting something slowly is harder than lifting something fast.

Like some people said, the cake is fragile. It requires a lot of skill to lift it without it falling apart. Also, he had to walk slowly of course. Hence all the struggle.

 

Although I would not have used the word heavy.

Actually if you think about it. The cake was very wobbly. It was not a question of heaviness of the cake or a question of Big Mac's strength. It was a question of the stability of the structure of the cake. Big Mac was being careful to prevent the cake from spilling, not struggling to keep it a top his back because of heaviness. Big Mac is a burly pony. Not much can be heavier than he can handle. AJ was just using bad wording choice.
