Nuke87654 1,849 September 28, 2014 Share September 28, 2014 Why are they rebranding Hub anyway? Is there any good reason why they're rebranding the channel? Because Discovery now controls the majority shares on that channel (60 to hasbro's 40) where before Hasbro and Discovery shared the channel equally in shares while it was called the Hub.
Jangocoolguy 433 September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 The change happens October 13th...just a few days after the Hub's anniversary/birthday. Irony. dragoonanime 39 September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 I really hate how we are going from a fun family channel to a channel that is mostly filled with crappy Discovery shows.

Twilight The Creator 298 October 1, 2014 Share October 1, 2014 From what I understand they're just changing the name of the channel, Hasbro still gets some sort of control, EQG2 and S5 will still air on the renamed channel, but they might still move to a new channel (Cartoon Network, anyone?) after S5? Castle Bleck 19,383 October 2, 2014 Share October 2, 2014 Good news folks, MLP is confirmed to be untouched by a Discovery! http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/09/the-hub-officially-becoming-discovery.html Lay those fears to rest! EquestriaGuy 1,074 October 2, 2014 Author Share October 2, 2014 Let me put it this way. If MLP never took off, I guarantee Hasbro never would have retained the 6 hour block it did. That block exists to protect MLP.
Zekromic 1,054 October 2, 2014 Share October 2, 2014 See, I told told people there is nothing to worry about. Yeah, people need to chill The hub was originally Discovery Kids. It's still Discovery Kids in Latinamerica, I wonder why they haven't changed it by now This new logo began appearing in on-screen promos: 10/13...if anything, that's the damnedest of dates to launch a network. Wind Chaser 4,768 October 2, 2014 Share October 2, 2014 Doesn't look right to make jokes off of. I know, it's pretty bland. I was hoping that Discovery Family would only be a placeholder name for them. We'd have some cool stuff going if the globe was at least more visible. Hey, we could always call it Discordery Family!
EquestriaGuy 1,074 October 3, 2014 Author Share October 3, 2014 http://www.nickandmore.com/2014/10/03/discovery-family-schedule-5am-5pm-kids-5pm-5am-discovery-shows/ Sitcoms are gone. Movies (outside of some kids movies) are gone. Marathons of other Discovery networks’ shows are here. Starting Monday, October 13, the Hub Network will rebrand as Discovery Family. Hasbro will program the network between 5am-5pm with Hasbro Studios shows and other kids programming currently seen on the Hub Network. 5pm-5am will be marathons of other Discovery network shows, like Discovery Channel’s Africa and Survival of the Weirdest on Monday night, Science Channel’s How Do They Do It?, Extreme Engineering: Big Reveals and Buying the Galaxy on Tuesday night, Factory Made and Animal Planet’s It’s Me or the Dog on Wednesday night and TLC’s Cake Boss and Quints by Surprise on Thursday night. Weekend schedules are unknown at the moment, but it’s expected that the Discovery shows will continue those days as well. Back to the kids’ side of the network – most shows will be moving up one to one-and-a-half to two hours from where they currently air on weekdays. Two shows are out: Dan Vs. and Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch’s morning showing (it’ll still air at 2pm). For example, Jem and the ’80s G.I. Joe will now air in the 5am hour and Family Game Night will air at 8:30am. Pony fans can breath easy as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will air from 10:30am-noon and 3:30-5pm. We’ll continue to monitor schedule changes and will update this post with more information as it becomes available. Pardon my language....This sounds fucking TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. FUCKING TERRIBLE. You know what's gonna cause MLP to jump to another channel? When kids are put off by the rebranding, and no one in the galaxy watches the evening programming. If this channel were a living human, it would be sent to hospice. If I were imprisoned in the Chateau D'lf, I'd rather sit in the dark silence, waiting for my next beating, than watch this programming. RIP in pepperonis The Hub.
dragoonanime 39 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 If the Hub was doing bad before, there is no way that the Hasbro shows will keep this channel going when Discovery is only going to air old shows of theirs in huge marathons every night.
Nuke87654 1,849 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 (edited) Sorry, but I think whatever caused Hasbro to want to cut their loss with Hub may lie in Discovery because seriously, their evening schedule is nothing but reruns of older shows from other channels. Only Hasbro's shows like Littlest Pet Shop and MLP FIM would be of any interest. I can see why Hasbro is in talks with CN to probably get their shows on there as there is no reason to stick around with Discovery. Wind Chaser 4,768 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 Well, I just looked at the new lineup, too. I'd declare this channel DoA, except for the Hub block. It's a waste of channel space. All it turns out to be is one giant, unnecessary ad for the other Discovery networks, and it's even worse for a company whose networks have gone through more brand changes than all of its competitors combined throughout the last decade to be launching such a frivolous endeavor. I have a sincerely high doubt that Hasbro would want to be associated with a weak, second-rate network like DiscFam. Once Hasbro jumps ship on them, it's game over. Discovery would have been better off putting the whole channel up for sale.
Jangocoolguy 433 October 4, 2014 Share October 4, 2014 Alas poor Hub. I knew it, board members. A network of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. It hath borne me on adventures and antics a thousand times. And now how abhorred in my imagine it is! My gorge rises at it (whatever that means)! Here played those shows and movies I recorded I know not how oft. Where be your ponies now? Your little pets, your transforming robots, your nostalgic shows that were wont to set children and adults on a roar? Not one now to mock your own programming? Quite chapfallen? Now, get you to Discovery's boardroom and tell them, let them stop this foolishness that chases away viewers with most dull and repetitive programming and show them what made such great entertainment so great. 3 "It's like I found a piece of myself I didn't even know was missing!" Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 October 6, 2014 Share October 6, 2014 All right, here's how the scheduling is gonna work http://www.nickandmore.com/2014/10/03/discovery-family-schedule-5am-5pm-kids-5pm-5am-discovery-shows/ So from what I can tell, the Discover stuff will operate kind of like Nick at Night. The kids programming airs during the day well the Discover stuff airs from 5 pm to 5 am. Most Hub shows seem to return (unfortunately, not Dan Vs. or their sitcoms.)
dekutree64 713 October 6, 2014 Share October 6, 2014 If MLP gets on CN, that might mean more bronies.. and I mean A LOT more bronies. Indeed, that would be great. I'd actually watch it on TV if it was on a channel that doesn't require a $10/month cable box to receive. This Discovery Family thing is stupid. Better if Hasbro just gives up on having their own channel, and gets their shows on one of the more widely available channels where more than a few rich kids can afford to watch. FiM is probably a nightmare franchise for the Hasbro/Hub execs to deal with Insanely popular due to internet culture, but they're losing out on a ton of theoretical money because of youtube. Yet if they tried to get that money by going youtube nazi on us, they'd lose huge numbers of fans because there's just no affordable way to watch legally, and it would feedback into a greater loss of money than just letting us run wild.

I totally agree. My cable box is lucky to get channels like the Hub, we got some kind of "free for 6 months deal". Nobody is going to pay extra money for a show they can watch easily on DailyMotion. hello

Ya, if anything, this should mean DF will be included into whatever cable package gets you the full array of Discovery channels, so we could see MLP's ratings go up. Xenzy 15 October 7, 2014 Share October 7, 2014 Hasbro and whatever that other company that was in the business thing for The Hub have dissolved the partnership. Since Hasbro owns MLP:FiM, what does this mean for us Bronies? Well, I will tell you what. It means we'll be missing our ponies. Hopefully they keep MLP:FiM going, though...
