This actually happened recently with an online friend of mine. He would throw me a bunch of Pony pics at me, but he then kept a Fluttershy avatar for two weeks straight. After that I began to question if he "converted himself" and he replied with a no, and he was just doing that to make me happy. 

 

IRL, my cousin likes ponies, but she doesn't consider herself as a full-fledged brony like I am. She doesn't like watching the show as much, she prefers the merch.

Well, actually... this ain't as dumb of a question as it might seem when you compare it to other things...
I mean, @Jeric made a good point.  And actually, even from a small town I've seen similar things occur.
To be honest, I'd be just a tad bit annoyed.  But wouldn't do nothing about it.
However, I have gotten a bit peeved when I see people where Nirvana shirts, then when you ask them, "Oh, so you like Nirvana, eh?  Me too.  What's some of your favorite songs (and/or) what's your favorite album?" Then I get a response like "Oh, I don't actually listen to them.  It was just a cool shirt."

Like... really?  Seriously?  Smh. 

One does not simply wear a Nirvana T-shirt without not having listened to at least one of their albums.

(Lol, okay, sorry Jeric - I know you probably'd rather digress from my point on this, so yours stands alone, better than mine, haha.)
