I was just a normal 14 year old(At the time, I'm 17 now)

 

I had friends, I played online games. I wasn't lonely or anything. I discovered MLP on my own. Nobody told me about it. I was running around youtube/google and I found pony stuff and then I checked it out and became who I am now. No regrets about it.

   Before I was a brony, I was a hospital corpsman in the navy, an ancient and medieval historian, Pokemon generation one, furry fandom, tulip gardener, and an old MSTie, I have enjoyed Mystery Science Theatre 3000 since "Cave Dwellers" premièred, moreover I was a Disney and animation fan, now Friendship is Magic is a replacement for most of Disney, which has too much pandering and not enough effort, also I took care of Wolf hybrids in my spare time.

I was a gamer and a sports fan who occasionally enjoyed listening to metal and liked doing math. I was also very quiet and wasn't entirely interested in socializing with others. I didn't know much about the MLP fandom and it did not concern me.

 

Not much has changed since then, except that I am making strides at being more open and social around others, which has been a problem with me for some time. I also don't feel as negative about life as I used to. That said, however, I was making these strides before becoming a brony; the show and this fandom weren't big factors even though they have helped me.

I was what I am now, less the MLP love.

It wasn't so much that it took some of my attention, more like it was just another show on the Netflix queue.

The only thing that's really changed is I spend a lot of time on MLPF instead of Kongregate.

My interests before mlp fim were anime, sci-fi, dinosaurs, video games and I mean I was obsessed Pokémon and then with

star trek when the reboot came out

 

At first when I saw mlp fim, I thought

yuck that's making a comeback really? and then when I did watch it, I was like "OMG THIS AWESOME!!!!!!!" and next thing I know I'm collecting every mlp fim themed item in sight! (Much to my parents displeasure)

Before I became a Brony, I remember being deep into the furry fandom. I would even draw stuff and people would like it! Then when I saw bronies forming after I watched EG I kind of fell from the furry fandom and drifted to the brony fandom. I was planning on contributing to the fandom before I realized I can't draw ponies..... period..... at all.....

 

but I still dwell around the furry fandom, just not as much as I dwell around the brony fandom

Here's the thing: I can't say I was anything else before being a Brony because my Brony side was just kinda added to all the stuff I'm into already. Music, Classic Cars, sports, video games... just so many different things.

Comics, 'classic era pc gaming', modern gaming, military/weapon history,Technology, subversive early mid-late 20th century literature, John carpenter movies, un-ironic 80's, 90's movie nostalgia. Gaming journalism *laughs * - There was time when it was good, back when gaming magazines where relevant. That's it in no discernible order dating back 10-12 years.

 

Since MLP I've alsostarted getting into anime, more into console gaming, particularly 'JRPG's'.

 

No regrets.
