Only thing that worries me is AMD's driver support. I have not heard good things about it.

I've used AMD cards since 2009 and the ONLY problems I have had with AMD's drivers are this problem that I've been complaining about. And it's only in certain games.

Ah, I see. Interesting. I've heard about black screens and other glitches from other friends, though.

My friend Charlie (one of my roommates back on campus) has had the black screen issue with his MSI R9 280.  He has two monitors and once in a while (usually when he's playing CS:GO and watching a Stream at the same time) one of them will black out on him.

He says the reason for it is because it was one of the first models to come out and most of those had similar issues.  I'm not sure how correct he is on that but I'll take his word for it.

Odd, because I only use cheap Dollar-Store batteries but I still can't remember the last time I has to replace the batteries in this.

Stick some high-end Duracell's in there and the batteries might outlast the mouse.

Eh, I'm so used to gaming mouses, other mouses just seem crap by comparison.

How much of a difference is there really? I've never used anything better than a $10 wired mouse...

Typically the biggest advantage is a higher-resolution, more responsive sensor, which can come in handy if you want a quick response in games or have a high-resolution monitor. But those aren't typically benefits exclusive to gaming mice, but having the extra CPI can help on a 1440p or 2160p display.

Pretty much this. One time I used a regular mouse after using a gaming one for so long, the difference was staggering. It felt weird and imprecise. Not to mention I can't use a mouse without forward/backward buttons anymore.

But I actually don't feel like the cheap-shit mouse I have now is imprecise at all. I have the sensitivity up pretty high so that I only need to move it a little bit in order to reach all the way across the screen. Even that way I have no trouble hitting the buttons I intend to.

Would I still notice a difference if I switched to a gaming mouse?

It might. It depends on the person. Gaming mice also feel a lot more comfortable in the hand.

Since peripherals are the subject right now, I'm updating the Corsair Utility Engine for my keyboard and I gotta say...

I wish I could have that logo on my K70! But noooo, I gotta deal with the Tramp Stamp until I retire this keyboard.

Because PC Gaming, what's your favorite TF2 video?

Asking a question like that is like asking if I'd rather have a million dollars or a mansion.

I've noticed my average frame rate in GTA has gone down from 79 - 86 to 59 - 68 since I updated my driver. That's honestly quite bullshit, that I and other Kepler card owners are getting screwed over because we don't have the latest and greatest Maxwell cards.

My understanding is just that they no longer optimize the software for older cards, they focus on newer ones.

Seems a bit of a stretch to claim nvidia is out to sabotage older cards--from a practical perspective that would be an awful lot of extra work to go into tearing down the code so that it's worse but not so worse it simply stops functioning.

For me the seller was much more in the function department--the Naga comes with 12 keys on the left side so that you can use your thumb to activate abilities instead of having to move your hands all over the place.

I dunno, it'd feel weird using a mouse with a numberpad on the side for my macros in WoW. I bind my abilities to certain keys on my keyboard, all within easy reach. Plus, those buttons are small and I might miss-click.

That's how I feel about corded mice.

I couldn't deal with a damn wire in my way ever again.

I know this goes against some conventions but if I were to buy a decently powerful PC to play more recent games on, what should I buy and where should I get it? Building one isn't really an option since I have no technical prowess, though I don't think future hardware installations will be as much of a problem.

With this method I plan to make it as easy as possible to play higher end PC games. Cost is little issue.

I've been getting a lot of games off of the Steam and GoG sales and I don't know how many of them can run on my little laptop. I already have to turn the settings way down just to run Eador: Masters of the Broken World.

Building is very easy, it's basically adult legos. Minimal technical prowess needed to build.

I don't trust myself to do that. I'm trying to make it as easy as possible. Get the PC and start playing is about all I want to do.

I don't really need it to be customized. Just something standard and powerful. Gaming is the only reason it will exist so I imagine there's a standard to shoot for.

If you really want to buy... I honestly have no idea. I've not looked at pre-built PCs in years.
