I don't trust myself to do that. I'm trying to make it as easy as possible. Get the PC and start playing is about all I want to do.

Aww, but building is so fun! And I built a month after I had surgery on my right arm and did just fine, so don't worry about it. If you really doubt yourself, find a good guide on YouTube and follow that; the build process is the same PC-to-PC, with the only major difference being a few case features.

The building is mostly why I've stuck with consoles for so long. The only reason I'm even considering a PC now is to play games I would otherwise miss out on if I stuck purely to console.

I don't like messing with technical stuff. I don't have the mind for it.

Do you have any computer stores near you? They can probably build for you. You'd have to pay a labor fee for that I think, though. Haven't done that myself, I just built mine on my own.

I might. Not sure. I think there's a Best Buy a ways from here, also a Fry's (or whatever it's called). I don't mind paying fees to get it done for me.

All right. So, can you give me a budget? I'll see what I can come up with on PCPartPicker.

It can take me quite awhile to save up money but overall there's little restriction. Ideally $500 or less but if it takes a bit more I'll just have to save up.

The important thing is that I have a friend who plays Total War games and wants me to be able to play with him. If nothing else a PC capable of playing those is a must.

So basically anything in my preferred budget isn't particularly good. It could take me years to save up the money for some of the higher end PCs in totality.

Ah. Well then. Yeah, you're not gonna get a whole lot out of $500 just yet. That isn't to say that a $500 PC is terrible, but you'd have to make some serious compromises to get higher-end hardware in that budget.

Not gonna lie I pretty much paid for my entire PC with my financial aid refund from college.

The money I get from working mostly goes towards food and paying off my student loans.

After I get a PS4 I'll probably start saving for that but I also need to consider using my money to pay for schooling so I can get a better job. Better job means more money.

If I could get financial aid I'd be so much better off. I defaulted on my grant seven years ago and it's prevented me from getting any financial aid. (Granted I need to contact the college to see if I can clear my name since it's been so long)

Maybe he could get higher-end components with that budget by starting an oh I dunno...scrapyard war or something.

What would you suggest for a gaming build that gets 60fps at 1080p on medium/high settings running the latest and greatest titles?  I may be building a PC for a friend in the future and I'd like your opinion.  Actually his budget would be around 800 USD.

I used my tax refund for my build. I'd probably have waited longer if I saved up for it.

My tax refund was abysmally small.  It was almost enough to buy a $50 HDD.

It's already been established that Lord Gaben is no longer our lord and savior, he is a fallen god now.

Anyone know how good is the Corsair VS PSU series? I ordered a VS550, would've went with CX but it was too expensive. Is it any good, and is it loud?

The VS series isn't marketed in here in the US, but it appears the same OEM manufactures it and the CX600/430. Should be fine.

Loving my new mouse. Steelseries is a fantastic brand, and the simple design is really nice.
