Brownie and Sundae both jumped at the loud crack, and looking around. Apple Bloom and her cousin also looked around for the direction of the sound. They all then became as speechless as Blitz when they saw Spellbind sleeping near the campfire, unaware that a separate pony was watching them.

 

"Gosh!" Brownie exclaimed. "I hope that mare's okay."

 

"Yeah," Apple Bloom agreed. "She looked really tired. Then again, it is getting late."

 

"Maybe she's just tired," Babs guessed.

 

Sundae looked behind her and saw some moving brush. Maybe whatever was there was friendly after all. "Hey!" she called. "Hey, come on out!"

(Just to b clear she fell asleep then rolled down the hill and landed next to the fire.

 

Spellbind kept sleeping. "OWIE!" she suddenly cried. Her rump felt incredibly hot. She got up. "Sorry for interrupting," she apologised.

 

She turned around to look at the rustling bush not aware that the fur on her rump had been burnt clean off and she was showing that (ie pink skin) to the new ponies.

Seeing the pony rise up, even though she still looked tired, was likely a relief for all of them, including Blitz that gradually became less anxious over what was going on and started to relax slightly, moving over so that she could face the new pony and see if she was okay or had perhaps hit her head. Not that she could Do much about it if it was, as she wasn't a doctor, but... Well, cauterizing wounds was a valid option if you were desperate enough after all.

 

"Oooh, are you okay miss? You're not hurt right? No broken bones? Horn? Muscle tissue? Trumpet?"

 

She wasn't all too focused on what she said though unfortunately, but most of the words were at least real things that she had heard a few times when she passed through the hospital in Ponyville, and it couldn't hurt to ask right? It would be bad if the poor pony was hurt somehow.

 

Trying to keep herself so that she could look up at the pony with a curious/worried look on her face, she didn't notice the burnt flank that she was showing to most of the others, which was likely for the better. It wouldn't help the mare if she started to laugh, and she wasn't sure that she could hold back if she saw something like that.

Storm and Pinkie both blinked, before bursting out laughing at the new pony's er... 'Condition', with Scootaloo and Grey not far behind()... Sweetie Belle giggled a bit, but tried to maintain her composure... for all of ten second before joining her friends in laughing on the floor.

As soon as Apple Bloom, her cousin and the twins saw the literally blank-flanked mare was all right, they joined in on the laughing fit. Neither of them could help it. After all they were laughing with her, not at her. Brownie in particular was too tickled to even notice that he was looking at a grown mare without parts of her coat.

 

"Well, there's one way to get your cutie mark!" Apple Bloom pointed out.

Spellbind turned round and was just about to ask why they were laughing when she the wind blow against her rump. She felt it with a hoof and blushed furiously.

 

"That is kind of funny though," she said, thankfully not offended. She was also relieved that her hat had somehow not fallen off.

 

"I'll be on my way now. Sorry about the interruption," she said.

Pinkie managed to reign her laughter in a bit, "N-no, wait! Feel free to stay a bit..." She offered, "I think the Cutie Mark Crusaders would be pretty interested in an older blank flank..." Pinkie giggled a bit more, "Though it's a bit of a different kind of blank..." she added, referring to the missing fur..

 

"Plus we have S'mores!" Storm chimed in.

 

Scootaloo, Grey, and Sweetie were still just a bit too busy laughing to respond.

While Brownie and Babs tried to recover from their laughing fit, Sundae took Storm's suggestion to heart. She grabbed a stick and put a marshmallow on its top before offering it to Spellbind. "Don't be shy!" she said, "They're really good!"

 

"Yeah, don't leave!" Apple Bloom called to Spellbind. "Pinkie's right, we aren't the Cutie Mark Crusaders for nothing. We'd love for you to come join us!"

Blitz didn't understand why they were all laughing all of a sudden until the new arrival turned and she got a look at what was going on. Then the penny dropped and she would have let go of a laugh herself too, if she hadn't... Awh, who was she kidding? It was going off just as well as the others, even though she tried to hold a hoof in front of her mouth and dampen it a little, especially considering how embarrassing it must be for the poor mare.

 

"I-Heh- say stay too. It's late anyway. Not a good time to wander around."

 

Besides, it would be mighty awkward to have her running around town like this, fall asleep and be found by a lot of ponies when they woke up. This would be easier for her, hopefully, though she'd likely need something to cover her... Perhaps Pinkie or Stormy had an idea with that, but they'd see.

"Really you'd do that for me?" said Spellbind. "Wow thanks. And yeah, maybe I shouldn't be walking around at this time of night. Especially taking into account that I just fell asleep whilst walking and rolled near a fire..."

 

She knew that if she sat down on the bark, it would hurt her exposed skin, so had to lie on her belly.

Storm's eyes widened when she mentioned the fire, "Oh, speaking of which..." He turned around, rummaging through his saddlebags for a bit. "Here!" Storm said, turning back towards Spellbind and offering a medium sized blanket. "It can't be too comfortable to have your flank all exposed like that..."

Spellbind was now blushing extremely heavily, as if her head/facer was a kettle. "Um... thank you very much, kind sir..." she thanked Storm shine as she accepted the blanket. She sat down on it and it was really quite comfortable. "I wonder if Zecora has something that could help? But I don't want to be  a bother..."

Storm chuckled, "Well I'm sure we could head over there with you in the morning, I'm sure the Crusaders wouldn't mind... Maybe they'll even get cutie marks in potion making, or some sort of other mysticism like that..." He told her with a smile, "and feel free to just call me Storm"

 

"Or Stormy!" Pinkie chipped in, jumping over and landing on his head. "That's what I always call him! Some other ponies do too, but mostly me. I've been trying to get everypony to call him that though, because I think it'd be kinda silly. Though maybe that's just me too... Hmm..." She then took up a thinking position, still on top of Storm's head.

 

"Potion making sounds like it could be cool..." Grey said with a smile

 

"Yeah! Plus there's the 'Other Mysticism' part which sounds kinda mysterious and maybe even a bit spoo~ky!" Scootaloo added, waving her forehooves around for emphasis on 'Spooky'.

 

Sweetie Belle frowned a little, "I hope it's not too scary..."

Hearing more about Zecora and her abilities intrigued the Manehattanites even more. Brownie and Sundae oohed and aahed at hearing about her potion-making and mysticism, whatever the latter word meant. As the other crusaders spoke about Zecora's spookiness, Brownie's nerves pulsed through his body, making him shiver a bit.

 

"I can't wait to see her, then," Sundae said as she roasted another marshmallow. "It's too bad it's nighttime already."

 

"She does sound a bit creepy, though," Brownie added. "I just hope she's the good kind of mysterious."

 

"I've never made a potion before," Babs admitted.

 

"Don't worry, cuz!" Apple Bloom exclaimed. "I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Zecora's a great teacher, too."

"Yey, Zecora visit tomorrow then."

 

Blitz jumped a little in place with a big smile on her face. She had never been at Zecora's hut before, and from what she heard, the zebra could make all sorts of weird things happen with the potions there, and if there was one thing Blitz loved almost as much as explosives, it was when something strange happened. Granted, she wasn't sure what Kinds of weird things could happen as she hadn't been there and only spoke with her that one time when they stumbled upon eachother going after the same ingredient, but if her work was as mystic as she sounded and looked, then it was sure gonna be something special.

 

"I hope she can teach somepony something fun. It would be cool to have more potion ponies around."

 

She looked mostly at Babs with that last sentence. Sure, she knew little of this pony, but she had said she hadn't tried something like this before and finding someone with a natural talent for this... Oh, it would be just perfect. Though, she wouldn't be thinking it couldn't be somepony else to, but as to who... Well, they'd see if it was.

"Great!" said Spellbind. "I've made a friend out of Zecora. She's so interesting, and for some deluded reason, she thinks the same of me. So it doesn't make me feel so rude when I ask for her help."

"Hope you're excited about meeting Zecora as I am, Blitz," Babs told her. "Manehattan's got a few zebras but the ones I've seen like to sing and dance."

 

"Speaking of which" Apple Bloom said, turning to Spellbind. "We ain't plannin' on sleepin' just yet. We're gonna sing a bit and tell some stories. You in?"

 

"And we can make room in our tent so you can sleep with us," Sundae added.

"You bet Babs. I haven't seen Zecora in a while now and it'll be fun with some mystic things."

 

If she had known they were gonna see Zecora, she would have harvested some of the snappy things that grew in the area around her house that wasn't scorched. It had pretty much been the only thing she knew Zecora was after at their brief encounter, and it would have made a good gift. But eh, what was done was done, and it would give her a reason to show there another time if it was fun.

 

"What's the Zebra's like in Manehatten beyond singy and dancy? Do they rhyme too? Seem very smart? See the future?"

 

Blitz was really curious on what other differences there were between Manehatten and Ponyville zebra's. Far as she knew, she hadn't met others than Zecora, and she hadn't looked like she was about to sing and dance at that time, so it made her curious what other things separated them.

 

Sides, you never knew what the future brought. Perhaps some day she'd get lost and end in Manehatten, and she would know at least something about the town in advance then even though it might not Technically be the most important thing. But 'eh, trivia might not be useful all the time, but better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it after all.

"Yeah, Babs," Brownie turned to the Manehattanite. "Why do the zebras in Manehattan like to perform like that?"

 

"I'm not to sure," Babs said, shrugging. "I guess zebra culture in the city is different. I've seen them chant and perform their own kind of zebra magic. They do it to piano music and also like to do some lively dancing."

 

"If that's the case, I bet Zecora might know a thing or two about music, too," Sundae guessed.

 

"Not really," Apple Bloom told her. "She's more into mystics and she's really smart, too."

"You know, I don't think I've ever met a Manehatten Zebra before..." Storm mused aloud, "But I do know Zecora pretty well, I stop off for some tea and a chat every now and then."

 

"And sometimes I go too!" Grey added, jumping onto his dad's back as Pinkie jumped off Storm's head. "She's really nice and rhyme-y!"

 

"Yeah" Storm chuckled, "She may not sing or dance, but she's always rhyming."

Blitz scratched her head slightly and looked at the burnt-flank pony slightly confused, then shook her head and looked over to the fire instead. They knew what they were gonna do in the morning, but it was still night now, and the fire were still lit. Perhaps she'd take a bit of time and focus on that for now while listening to what the others would say if they went on about Zecora.

 

She didn't know much beyond one of the ingredients she went for and that she was real smart, albeit a little hard to understand fully at times. Beyond that was new info for her, so why not put another marshmallow on the stick and listen in to how things would go?

 

So, she backed slowly away from the others and went for that whilst still looking at them as much as she could with perked ears. There was much that might be learned tonight and she wasn't going to miss it... Or okay, Some would likely go. Her brain went a little haywire at times so it was possible she would miss something, but nearly just felt awkward to put into that sentence.

Apple Bloom blushed at Brownie's offer, knowing what happened to her the last time she asked Zecora that same question. "I'd rather not ask her," she told him.

 

"In the meantime, why don't you join us for some s'mores?" Babs suggested to Spellbind. "They're really good!"

 

"Here," Sundae said, reaching out her foreleg. "Try one."

Spellbind looked over at the new ponies. "I've never had s'mores before," she said, accepting the smore. "Thank you." She opened her mouth and took a bite out of it, expecting to like it since she could easily construct an imaginary taste of it from the ingredients. And she was right.

 

"Mmm!" she said, finishing it. "Thank you very much. It's so nice to have company around a warm fire instead of being all alone in the woods. Could've ended up anywhere after I fell asleep while walking.
