What Fantasy Race would you most like to be?

For me, probably a Khajiit. Have always been my favourite Elder Scrolls race, they're so damn cool :P

If you could choose sci-fi races, I'd pick a Lombax, from Ratchet and Clank though  :derp:

I always thought the fallen star from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was pretty cool. He lived on an island in human form with his daughter. Every day he ate a berry that made him a little younger, so that he'd eventually become a new star again, and could ascend to the night sky.

I'd like to be an elf. Exceptionally long lifespans (in most incarnations) means lots of time to appreciate what the world has to offer as well as study and learn so much about yourself and everything around you.

I think I'd prefer to be a elf. Long life or immortality aside, they have a certain understanding of magic, have great agility, are light on their feet, and, most importantly for me, are great scholars. The amount of knowledge they have accumulated (depending on which elf versions we're speaking of) is the stuff of legends.

Aside from that, dragons & dwarves also sound good...maybe wizards too. :P

I was thinking about a race... With race cars .

I guess I'd like to be a dragon (air, not water). Preferably in the colors of my OC :proud:. I'd like to breathe "white lightning" :P.... Or just fire is fine .

Dragon, all the way, one that kills anything stupid enough to stand up to it.

I'm gonna go with that on the basis of how much of a badass I would be.

Probably a Dwarf. :P

I don't care if they're short, they have epic beards! Plus, I really like the 'giant underground city/fortress' stuff they've got going on. :)

Sorry, can't let you, there's only one alpha dragon around here.

I would also like to be a wizard from the Lord of the Rings. I find them superior to most other renditions of Wizards since it isn't as if just anyone can do magic. The five wizards existed before the creation of the universe, and even had a small hand in helping to create it (granted in the same way a factory worker help builds a country, but still...).

If humans are the master race how come in pretty much any fantasy ever the average human is outclassed by nearly every race in strength, agility, intelligence, affinity for magic and the world around us? For all intents and purposes humans should be extinct if it weren't for the good graces of all the other races that like to call us allies rather than enemies.

PFFT humans kick ass I don't know what you're talking about. We have a strong will to fight and can live in the harshest of terrain with our exceptional resilience. And if the time calls for it we unite to crush our common foe.

Every race, when put in a situation where they have to fight, has a strong will. Dwarves are known to be outright stubborn.

And maybe we survive the harshest realistic terrain but in a world of fantasy where anything can happen I'm pretty sure we'd be dead before sunrise.

stubbornness is a terrible trait in survival situations,

and obviously not considering we're still here and we outdid the neanderthals and the other degenerate creatures.

That's a completely different environment, and even that was just due to luck.

A highly advanced sentient robot. Now that would be awesome!

If not, I'll go with demon. That would also be awesome.

Because humans have no equals in nature in terms of our success as a species (we have no predator and can manipulate our environment), and our intellect. So, we have to invent smarter, more advanced and powerful species in fantasy and sci-fi to keep it entertaining, so we have a challenge to overcome. And besides that, ALL fantasy races were created with human traits in mind.

I wouldn't want to be any other species, except a future human.

that means nothing, we're born survivors. in the desert, in the cold reaches of the north, we have sprawling civilization.

Actually, it means a lot, in a world populated by creatures that are better than us in every enviroment, though not nessercerily as good in all enviroments generally, we would not do nearly as well.

My mind without a physical body, a spirit maybe? Or a ghost

Not too noticeable, can turn invisible, float through walls, "cause" things to happen"

Poltergeist maybe xD

well seeing as humans can thrive in harsh environments (north africa, the mongolian steppes, the wilds in general) and have survived several outbreaks of plagues, I don't think you really know what you're talking about.
