While he wasn't exactly "dear" since we weren't all that close, a classmate of mine died in a house fire ten years ago. I remember a lot of the other kids weeping over it, and the fact only his sister survived.

A great friend of mines who has been into heavy drug uses kept getting slightly more depressed more and more during Junior year, where I got a text message from him, from his cousin..

He texted me and sent me a photo how my friend committed suicide by a car crash because his cousin claimed he heard voices in his head to do so

Since then, I'm always afraid of making the best or greatest of friends because the day something tragic happens like that again, I don't want to feel that pain again..

So he purposely crashed himself? That's horrible man, I'm so sorry you had to witness your friend go through such a hard time. :(

I have 1.

I lost my dad 5 years ago, after he became depressed and decided to take his own life.

Well when I was in 5th grade there was a classmate who passed.

I knew him but at the time I didn't really understand too well.

He had a heart failure from the elevation of being in a helicopter. The school engraved a bench and put it on campus with his picture. Till this day it's still there.

One of my good childhood friends died because he was doing the "choking game" (everyone remember that stupid fad a few years back?) and he died as a result.

Another friend, not as dear to me, died when he crashed a go-kart and wasn't wearing a helmet.

7 years ago, we were down in the local forest and found a small lake. We went swimming in there. Stupidly, we decided to swim near the reeds. My Friend went in there and dived underwater. You can probably guess what happened next. He drowned by getting caught underwater in the reeds. I wish I could go back in time and save him, because back then we thought he was just simply swimming underwater, we didn't realise he was stuck. :(

One of my classmates from middle school took his own life during his sophomore year by unknown means (unknown to me at least). *sighs* He seemed like quite an energetic and happy kid...

Apparently that fad was quite popular a few years back. Just check the statistics of the death rates compared to those of the people that died hanging themselves.

Gosh that's awful. I'm glad it isn't as prevalent as it used to be. So sorry for your lose.

One in 2004 to a car accident and two others in 2006 to separate car accidents. Two of them fell asleep while driving and the third took a curve too fast and hit a tree.

Ugh -_- >_> :/

Is the focus set on losing someone, or the tragic means of losing someone? If the former, losing someone is tragic already.

No, thankfully.

I, have not witnessed or heard of death from someone I know, yet. I know I will cross that path at a later date, and I'm not looking forward to it. Don't think I'll be able to hold my sanity if someone from my family passed, though. I'll most likely just sit in a corner In my room, door locked, and be laughing maniacally constantly while talking to myself about it and blurting out nonsense, if that happened at my current age.

a friend? you could say that...... my Uncle and I got along great I loved the guy he did so much for me he took me to school once in his police car and unhandcuffed me in front of everyone their reactions were priceless.... he also came to school once as my show and tell he explained what he did...... much later he got diagnosed with Cancer I forgot which one I was 6 at the time, he seemed like he was doing fine and I hoped he would be their for me on my 7th birthday.... he died June 3rd 2004 15 days before my birthday, my final words to him as they were burying him was "I'm going to be just like you when I grow up" and I will never forget my promise...... rest in peace uncle

I hate to sound harsh, but not yet.

I say yet because I lost a dear friend because she decided that hardcore drugs were a gateway. Yes, hardcore drugs, and she does quite a bit of them. I am surprised she is still alive honestly. She shoots up heroine and has done I think Cocaine, and some other drugs I cannot remember..oh and she also smokes cigs like a chimney. Kinda...shocked. She's been off and on, on drugs, but still. She used to be a very gorgeous girl and now honestly looks 40. I wish I was joking and she is only 21.

It saddens me because she was a true, best friend I trusted and sadly, drugs took over her life. I even tried to help at one point, but she blew me off, threatened to shoot and kill me (doubt she had the guts, but drugs can make you do dumb stuff), and steals.

Honestly, if she keeps this up, she might...not even make it. I dunno if that counts as an "accident" but...thats as close as losing a friend near death as I got.
