"They don't know how to escape. Keep an eye on that shadow. It'll be hard to see them from now on, but if they do on higher. They'll be dragon food." The scouts continued in the direction of the sky chariot, following it be the little shadow they put on the clouds, and the tiniest amount of sounds.

"this is so stupid, they can still see us given our luck." elegron tapped a hoof on the dashboard, hitting a button, activating the onboard stealthbuck. "that should finish the concealment. now im tired. ive had my horn cut off, and i nearly lost the lives of my friends." he curled up next to dash and tried to get some sleep.

A large shadow formed over the chariot. Rumbling could be heard. It was a big dragon that happened to be flying about. "Everypony be very very quiet. Do not make sudden movements that might make noise. Just be very quiet" Rave said quietly. The dragon started to sniff into the air and then growled. "Oh, I forgot that they could do that as well". "You owe me a ruby Rave". "And it had to be Baelgron, oh lucky me".

"Baelgron, was it? i want to apologize  for my friend. i promise you that you will get the ruby, but we do not have it at the moment. we are currently being hunted. if rave dies, the debt dies with him. if you want the ruby back, then you can greatly increase the chance of getting it by taking out the scouts below us. who knows? maybe they carry gems of high value. servants of the raider lord are more wealthy than we are by far. Ill add 'find a ruby and return it to baelgron' to my list of things to do. you have my word that i will try to return it to you,"

Elegron sent a private message to raves pipbuck "if you have it, return it. unless you want to risk being burned alive"

"Stealth systems. We have not lost them yet. Continue moving in the direction we saw them last. We should stumble upon them. And keep your eyes and nose pealed of any traces of them. They cannot escape professional hunters."

 

Despite having lost all visual, they stand jot on their trail, using any means possible to follow their flying prey.

Baelgron watched Elegron with disbelief. "I have no intentions to be starting any problems with the White Poison gang, at least while they keep themselves away from dragon territory. This might be my only chance to capture Rave here. He hasn't paid up and I'm not going to let him slip away with it". "Oh come on Baely. It was just a little card game, we were having a great time". "We dragons have an honor code. We will not be cheated like this. Plus you kept on eyeing my daughter". "Do you know how many caps you can get for a dragon scale?". "I don-- wait WHAT?". "Uhmmm, nothing, I said nothing". Baelgron started to breath. "FLY FLY FLY". Rave looked a little bit nervous. "I might have angered him a little bit. Don't worry, he is mostly harmless". A ball of fire whooshed past Rave's mane, singing it. "Mostly...." he smiled nervously.

"STOP! Baelgron. we wish you no harm. im sorry about what rave has done in the past. he has not only stolen a ruby, but slaughtered tons of innocent ponies and zebras. but this is a different rave. he has changed. Like i said, if you kill him now, you will never get the ruby. as it is white poison plans to take over the world. i have no doubt this includes the sky. we are trying to stop them from doing so."  Elegron had the sky chariot ready, his hoof on the accelerator.  he could fly away at a moments notice from this position.

"We do not fear the White Poison. They would crumble. Plus, there is no value in the sky, or at least not to ground based ponies. The Enclave are gone and the dragons have again reclaimed the skies. I don't care how many Rave has killed of your kind, I am only interested in my kind". Baelgron's tail had been creeping up on the sky chariot from behind and it grabbed Rave by all four hooves, tethering him up. He pulled Rave to him. "Oh hey, Baely, so good to see you again. How's your daughter Flamestreak?". "Why don't you ask her yourself?". "Hello there Rave" another shadow formed over the sky chariot. "Uh.. hello there Flamy" this was not Rave's day. "It's been such a long time. We should hang out more". "Wait, what? I forbid you to associate with any pony or other equines". "Oh, buck it up. I reached maturity the day Rave showed up for a card game... and if I remember correctly you spent the entire day playing with him while I had to celebrate all alone. Well, Rave actually kept me company while you were so focused on the cards". "You know I don't like losing and I was just making sure that the pony wouldn't get to our treasure hoard" Baelgron said quite defensively. "I know when you lie dad". "I-- I-- I'm not lying" Bael looked in the other direction. "I know now might not be the best time to be interrupting a family discussion here, but could you please let me go..... back to the sky chariot, please don't drop me from this height". "You're not going anywhere til I get my ruby". "Ugh, you're such a bully dad, let the poor little pony go". "Exactly, listen to the smart, cute dragon here that actually knows stuff. Let the poor little ol' me go" Rave tried to put on a cute innocent face.

Elegron smiled in a friendly manner to emphasize raves point, and nodded appreciatively towards Flamestreak. "is there any way we can travel over the clouds for a short time? if so i can easily lose the scouts that are following us." he asked flamestreak, not wanting to ask Bael, who would most likely turn down his request. "it would be very helpful"

"Are you a friend of Rave's? I'm gonna take it that you are. Of course you can. Rave and his friends can always pass by safely. IS THAT NOT RIGHT FATHER". "I-- I---- what would the other dragons say? I would lose respect". "You will lose more than respect if you don't do that for me". "Oh fine, but first the ruby. He began shaking Rave upside down over the chariot, his stuff spilling onto the chariots floor. A giant red ruby shaped like a heart fell from one of his pockets". "Oh rattlesnakes". Baelgron let Rave go and swooped of the ruby with the end of his tail. "You may go, let's go Flamestreak". "I want to escort them". "WHAT? NO I WILL NOT ALL--" Her eyes peered into his, it almost looked like she were burning his. "Fine, you may escort them. You really do remind me of your mother". Baelgron flew away. Rave began picking up his stuff, mumbling a little bit in irritation. "I've been keeping that for a lo-- wahh" Rave was picked up suddenly by Flamestreak and she put him on her back. "I'm not a dragon toy you know, no need to keep on picking me up like this". She giggled. She looked to Elegron. "Shall we continue?".

"Thanks" he starte up the sky chariot again, and let spark fly it this time. He took a turn, heading towards the base. He had made a turn earlier when he first saw the scouts, to make sure they wouldn't find the base. He remembered back to when he planned on running into bloodrops home and killing her and wade with a revolver. Needless to say, his plans were getting much better. He sat down next to dash agin for the 4th time in the last hour, and put his head on her shoulder again.

Flamestreak flew a little bit further away from the chariot. "It has been 5 months since I last heard from you. Where have you been? You did not leave any messages for me". "I have been busy, plus your father was starting to get more paranoid about you. I couldn't risk running into him, after our little game 2 years ago". "Well, I have been lonely. I miss our little adventures. We would travel together, to the ends of the world. Nothing could stand in our way. It was wonderful". Rave looked pained. "I have been a quest. A certain mission that I need fulfilling and with what is happening in the Wasteland, things have been set in motion that cannot be undone". "I can help. I can help you and your friends". "I'm sorry, I don't want anything happening to you, I don't want to cause any pain to your father either". Tears formed in her eyes. "I'm sorry". "I'm a grown dragon". "Well you aint exactly that large, you are smaller than Elegron's chariot. Only a little bit bigger than my son. Please, I don't want you hurt". The tears were streaming down. "I know that this might be the last time I see you. I don't want this to be my last memory of you". Rave was sad, he didn't know what to do.

"We lost their trail. Vregrance. What can you small?"

 

Vregrance: "I got a small smell of some dragons, but this is Dragon territory above us. So that's to be expected. We lost them."

 

Scout 1: "Not yet. Let me see that map."

 

The team gathered around a rather large map of the sector they where in.

 

Scout 3: "Ok. From what I can see, their are no logical places to set down in the nearby area, and they will need to set down soon. But, I remember a while ago seeing a few Enclave soldiers around here from time to time. Their may be something hidden around here, but that will take time for us to look. Enclave facilities are notoriously hard to find With it an accurate map."

 

Scout 6: "It's better than nothing I guess. We will patrol the area, keep an eye out for anything that does not look like it belongs. Maybe we'll stumble upon a few treasures along the way."

 

Vregrance: "Agreed. Let's get moving."

 

The team of 6 started to wonder blindly about the area, hoping to get lucky and find something.

"Remember rave, I left the stable many weeks ago. Flamestreak is right, she can make her own decisions."
"Spark, bring the chariot down, I want to check on our spies." The hovercraft descended, and Elegron motioned for his team to take aim with they're sniper rifles. Gunfire ripped through the air, and a third of the recon team fell to the ground. And they were just getting started. "I cannot risk them finding the base." Elegrons team launched another volley of bullets.

Flying into the wasteland, Rain flew into dragon territory. Most ponies didn't fly this high but she did long enough to know how to be quiet. Even when her father told her as a filly NOT to go there, she did anyway. She almost always paid the price but she gained enough foresight in her later years not to get caught alive. Scouting for dragons, and whatever else flew, she noticed a flying machine dipping down through the clouds. Staying out of sight just enough for curiousity's sake, she noticed them preparing guns for a battle. Following them in a cloud, she watched curiously. I wondern how Jack has been lately, he has been pretty quiet since the world went under, she thought.

Dash dips down and unloads her cannons taking out another few. After dipping back up she asks, "mistress Dragon, what would it cost me to procure information about a unicorn? He has harmed both dragons and ponies alike. He developed the anti-dragon ships your people once faced. I intend to bring him his due."

Elegron saw one of the scouts taking aim at dash, but he solved that problem with a well placed sniper round. He wasn't using his anti material rifle because he wouldn't be able to handle the recoil without magic. There were only a few scouts remaining. Elegron took down another one, using the wall of the sky chariot as cover. He heard a clank as a bullet hit the side. He poked his head out, and aimed down the scope at the pony who looked like the leader of the team, and fired.

"Wow!" she thought. "Nothing like a little action to spice up my day!" Taking aim at one of the pony scouts, she fired just as another round hit his head. Still keeping her distance. Not sure why but her gut usually told her when it was right to fire and this seemed like a good reason to. Still hidden within her cloud cover, she watched curious. whoever these ponies were, it seemed they had to be pretty interesting to draw such attention from the scorpion gang. They usually didn't go after someone unless they were pretty determined. "I wonder if they know anything about Jack? Nah, why would they, he was always into his books and studies. No way they could know anything."

elegron saw a bullet fly by, through his scope. he looked up and saw a pegasus. he took aim through the scope, lining up the sights on  her head. then stopped. after all, she had shot at the enemy. He dropped his aim and waved to her before pulling out his .44 magnum, now with a scope, and fired at a scout, putting a bullet in his back, and the second into his head. he had a clear advantage with the sky chariot blocking most projectiles, and the white poison recon team was completely open, with no cover to hide behind. he turned to the pegasus "hey, thanks for the help, we should talk more after this" he pointed at the spies.

Flamestreak dove with Rave one her back, she swooped over the scouts and breathed fire, roasting 2. Rave took a few shots with his Novasurge rifle, killing 3. "Just like the old days, eh?". "Yeah, I guess so" Rave said sadly. Flamesreak swooped again and fired 4 firebolts, killing 3 scouts. Rave took out the one she missed.

Giving the pony with no horn a hoofs-up. "Wow, I can imagine the struggle it took to lose half of his horn. This pony sure looks interesting. I'll wait until the coast is clear before i get out of this cloud." Continuing to provide covering support, I took note of the other passengers. "Full power armor? No way, and that other unicorn with a crystal cutie mark, he couldn't be a relative of Sombra. Could he?" Not sure who to trust yet, she didn't want to mention Jack. The less who knew her goals the better.

Flamestreak soared over the field, spotting the last scout. She flew right above him and seared him in flames. Rave shot him with his Novasurge rifle to end his suffering. "We are victorious. You see how useful I am, you will have to let me be with you now". "Flamy I--" "I won't accept a no. I am can decide for myself and I am going to be with you". Flamestreak flew past the chariot, waving her claws to Elegron and the rest.

Bursting out of my cloud, "Wow! A dragon! Actually a dragon that likes ponies. Now that is unique." Looking at Rave, "How did you manage that?" Regaining my manners, "Forgive me, I am Rain. You are?" Drifting parallel to the sky chariot. "You guys are like awesome fighting off those gangs, can't imagine why they would possibly want to pick a fight with your bunch though."

"Well, I am Rave Crystal. You might have heard of me. If not, I assure you that it won't be anything good, or at least you might not find it good. I-- wahh". Flamestreak started to fly a little bit away from the chariot, wanting to be alone with Rave. "You really like talking don't you?". "What can I say, this world would be rather dull if not for my speech". "Well, I for one can't deny that".

Elegron looked at flamestreak "just bring him back when your done" he said laughing, then he turned to rain "its a long story. it involves a slaver lord, a phycopathic cannibal, and a a cyberpony with way too much power." Elegron extends a hoof to shake rain's "im elegron, you may have heard of me. our group is fairly notorious around here for pissing off raiders, and in the past, slavers. but we havent had to worry about that one much anymore." he says, glancing at rave. he then gave rain a friendly smile "whats your name?"
