Could Tirek Return For Season 5

Now I tried watching the old cartoon but I soon gave up as it was absolutely terrible, but I thought Lord Tirek was truly fantastic and the one good thing about it. I loved his design, his voice and just about everything. Now Tirek came back for G4 and whilst Scorpan being his brother was a welcome and interesting change that leaves a lot of future potential for stories open, I found that alot of the stuff they did wasn't very truthful to the original character. Sure the episode was AWESOME in every way, but for some reason I found G4 Tirek lacking. He never had magic draining ability's in G1 and that's what I guess drove me away.

But now that that plot is over, what if Tirek returned to face his brother Scorpan. Having had his magic drain disabled, he begins to train his body naturally, and comes to face Scorpan. We get the full picture of what happened between the 2, and eventually Tirek kills Scorpan.

I doubt they'd bring him back unless they could come up with a very compelling reason. There really wasn't much to flesh out in this incarnation of his character, and Scorpan really could not have served the plot. The show does not have much of an interest in visiting the history of Equestria unless Twilight or the rest of the Mane 6 are involved, so it's highly doubtful. It looks as if we will be getting a new villain in the S5 premiere anyway.

I highly doubt it. Tirek had the disposition and traits of a one-shot villain. There doesn't appear to be any room to redeem him, and he isn't as charismatic a personality as Discord to justify sliding him back into the story. If let loose, Tirek would probably go back to stealing life energy in order to conquer Equestria.

 

Whether or not Scorpan appears again is another matter. A lot could still be said about an ancient creature who turned from malevolence and eventually befriended the Equestrians. The writers have some liberty, though; they could just as well leave him alone without any future mention in the series. His potential story is not fundamental to the overarching narrative.

Okay, your probably right. Its not that he wasn't a good villain that made for an epic story. Its that he wasn't as intimidating and menacing as the original, having a light hearted attitude and a weird high pitched accent.

 

One thing I worry about this show doing is redeeming great villains. Now Discord was done so well that I feel its all right, and being a character similar to Q he should be sort of a mix between sides. Luna and Sunset were fallen ponies that Celestia once held close, so it makes sense for them to be redeemed. However if the show redeems a single other villain I will be kind of mad, because a lot of them would just be wasted.

 

Also in Princess Twilight Sparkle, we saw some scenes of stuff that happened in the past, such as Lunas fall and Discords defeat. I think Discord was showing them just for fun, although I can't remember as that 2 parter was probably the most forgettable. Perhaps something could be done with Tirek and Scorpan's story, although when that would be would be questionable, and it may not fit in with the stuff their planning for S5. But thats okay I guess, as we already know his backstory.

With Discord being the only major villain to return (unless you count certain antagonists like Trixie) even if it does happen which is very unlikely it probably won't happen in season 5. Discord was returned with the intention of reforming him mostly because the demand for it was so staggering which though Tirek is also quite popular dosen't seem to exist. There is however the possibility of some flashbacks in future episodes with flashbacks becoming more and more common in the series.

Tirek drained lots of magic, had Dragon Ball fight with Twilight, then proceeded to do nothing with it. That was his prime.

He's no longer usable as a villain because his gimmick was becoming that super ripped powerful enemy.

What is he going to do now? He lacked imagination to do anything with quite literally unlimited power, so I highly doubt he'll do any better in Tartarus, or for that matter, in future seasons.

That isn't entirely true. The comic staff stays in touch with the show staff, and management has said something along the lines that whatever happens in the comics happens in the FiM universe.

 

Certainly it's not show canon, but like with Equestria Girls, they're their own self-contained stories. They happen in the universe but in most cases won't affect the show.

One on hand, him being imprisoned means he could always escape again at some point.

 

On the other, it would be in danger of being a rehash of the Season 4 finale. So they should just let him rot in Tartarus for the time being until they can come up with something else he can do.

Only if he is used as a superweapon for a war. Discord was turned into an ally. So they could turn him into one. I read on TV Tropes that he would have friends but only on his own terms. But it's just WMG. So it's just a guess and it's still uncertain. People say that Fluttershy cannot cope with a demonic centaur. I think she could.

No, we've redeemed 3 villains and 3 was enough. Tirek is too much of a badass to be reformed and the writers will use it so much after this that it will become repetitive and will lose its sincerity. Also Discord's plan was moderate enough in scale to be able to make a return, while Tirek's was not.

 

In fact I would prefer him to just be a one shot character than to be reformed, and looking at the evidence I think its safe to say he won't come back.

 

I hope that we get Grogar sometime in the future as well as Scorpan when Star Swirl The Bearded as he is practicly confirmed to make an appearence in S5. I just hope they don't waste those characters.

Of course he COULD return.  Your question is more SHOULD he return?  IMO, no.  If a major villain is going to return, I'd like to see Chrysalis return -if she could have a sensible plot.  However, the villains I'd most like to see more of are Gilda & Trixie.  I'd like to see if T was sincerely reformed & I think G was more sinned against than sinning.  Possibly, a team up.  It's probably too late for season 5, but prime time for season 6 requests.

YES.  I want a villain the same size as the six, so they can really go hoof to hoof with em.  Plus I think it would be really cool to have a recurring pony villain with a good backstory, you know, somepony they could really develop.  I'd love to see a villain with as much development as the six.  I mean, Q is a bit different.  I'm talking about a real nemesis.  Develop the character throughout the series, finally settle the score in the movie, that kind of thing.
