Lightning Dash 327 January 5, 2015 Share January 5, 2015 Maybe I'm just out of touch with the general gaming populace but I wanna know in what world Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and Megaman are considered forgotten. These are usually among the most popular franchises of all time. They've changed but mostly for the better. They aren't forgotten, just have a different ratio of fans to haters than before.Final Fantasy in my opinion ain't so known these days. Maybe it's just my part of the world but I never hear anything of this gaming series at all. As for Resident Evil and I will say again, the original style is being lost to the new generation of gamers. I'm not saying it's forgotten, just that original style of how the games used to be like. Megaman is another one I never hear about nowadays. Got to remember this might not be the same in other countries but where I am, Final Fantasy, it's something that I never hear about now. Megaman, of course there haven't been any recent games for it but none of my friends actually know about it. That's why I decided to talk about them in here. Maybe it depends on where you are in the world but I wouldn't know when it comes to that. As far as I see, these mentioned games are no longer talked about, at least none of my friends talk about them and there's no sign of their existence. Resident Evil is talked about but not the classics, I thought I'd mention them while I was at it. But that's just my opinion about these games and from my viewpoint. I guess I could see why you'd call them forgotten but as far as gaming communities go you can't go a conversation about RPGs without FF coming up at least once. On one forum I'm on entire conversations can change gears completely when FF is mentioned and then everyone spends hours discussing the series. I'm glad the old RE formula is going away too. Even in the remake of the remake of the first one they're changing things by taking out the stupid ass tank controls. Having limited inventory space never really does more than hinder the player's progress, in a very annoying way, so I'm glad that's out too. How RE is now is how I'd prefer it to be forever. RE6 was easily the best in the franchise. As for Megaman...well he hasn't had a game in a good while so it stands to reason that people have forgotten him some though he is still iconic to gaming. Megaman Legends 3? Cancelled. That first person Megaman game? Also cancelled. Most releases for Megaman lately seem to be just ports of the original games onto new systems.

Radiance64 7,059 January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Killer7 Such an oddball clusterfuck of a game... but still one of my favorites of all time, because of how so damn unique and mature it is. Probably forgotten for a reason, since it didn't sell well(hell I remember buying it for around $9) and not everyone liked it which is understandable, but still... wouldn't mind if Suda51 made more serious games like it, at the very least.
Sageflare 279 January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 (edited) I wonder why no one mentioned Conker's Bad Fur Day. That's a gem that pretty much no one knows about now then again it is a pretty adult game too. Compared to how great the early ones were it's kind of tough to like the newish ones, and it means a lot of young gamers are missing out on them D: But Crash Bandicoot <3 Gotta love him

A Black Circle 1,586 January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 Fallout 2. Now, you may be thinking "I've heard of Fallout! 3 Was great!" But, nobody seems to remember the two CRPG entries in the series, and it's a shame, because Fallout 2 was my favorite. Fallout 1 (or 2) Best American RPG. EVER Biscuit. You will destroy your relationship with whoever you play this with. As more my pick, anyone here aware that Pitfall, that Atari game where you swing on vines over crocodiles and such, got a reboot starring Steve Blum as Pitfall Harry? hawkflame 3,315 January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 Legend of Legaia on the PS1 and its sequel Legaia 2: Duel Saga on PS2. Two really great games, IMO. They're Final Fantasy style turn based RPGs with a twist- the combat style, while turn based, drew heavy inspiration from virtua fighter style fighting games. Each round for each character you would input a series of attacks to fill up something of an "attack meter", which grows longer with more experience, and then once you're done the characters would unleash the combination you just input. By putting in these combinations you could unlock certain special moves called Arts, which look more impressive and do more damage. You could even link arts together in combos to do some major damage. Especially in Legaia 2. Between being a a very high level, using multiple powerups to boost my strength, and linking up some of the most powerful arts attacks in the game, I once did a combo that took off well over a million HP. Killed off the final boss in one glorious shot. 2 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite!

ShadowPirateX 600 January 11, 2015 Share January 11, 2015 Back when I was younger, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King was really popular among those I knew. And for good reason. That game was awesome with it's wide diversity of characters, deep but not too complex combat system, epic battles and it's 2-player mode made for some hilarious moments. And I was the best Gimli there is! But no one seems to remember it nowdays... Tom Snyder 4,113 January 11, 2015 Share January 11, 2015 Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins, both games were released relatively late in the Gamecube's life cycle and the card based battle system was not to everyone's taste and had some disadvantages but both are games which are highly underrated with very engaging stories and a rather unique though not entirely kink free battle system. [NULL] 907 January 12, 2015 Share January 12, 2015 (edited) When I first heard of the idea of a first person action game combined with horror elements, I immediately fell in love. It turns out the game is also well put together. The combat is great (you can do bicycle kicks), the AI is really good even for today's standards, it's atmospheric, it has ghosts, and it has a decent story with a mystery that you unfold. The only gripes I have with this game is that it isn't exactly terrifying like Amnesia or Silent Hill, but more creepy and atmospheric. (I know that's what they were going for, but I still would've preferred to be genuinely frightened.) Also, the levels tend to get repetitive at times. This game even got two sequels: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and... *sigh* F.3.A.R. [ph-three-are?] You're better off ignoring these. F.E.A.R. 2 was okay, but it had some questionable design decisions, and the story was kind of unfulfilling. That's still more than I can say about F.E.A.R. 3. I really hope someone does a better sequel, reboot, or even just takes the concept of combining action FPS with survival horror, and make a good game. If you're sick of the same modern military shooters and you want something that puts a different spin on it, buy F.E.A.R.! If there's anything in these games you want help with I'm sure some of us here could help you out. Sometimes you just gotta learn to work the cards a bit. Unless it's a certain spoilery boss pretty late in Baten Kaitos Origins. I couldn't help you there. I never beat the game because of that boss but I haven't gone back to it in years.
