Troblem's plushie dump

Troblems

Recommended Posts

I merged my own threads so I'm not spamming OH. Yanno, cause I can. >.>

So in celebration of the upcoming con, I decided to make some parasprites for the Poniverse staff that will be accompanying me for the panel we're doing. I've only finished my own so far, since I did my own as a test. It came out pretty cute though <3

Unfortunately, Destiny won't be making it, so I'm mailing hers to her, since she was sposta be there. >.>

Awww...it sucks she can't be there. And that is pretty dang cute. Like my avatar.

and the list only seems to be growing

This one will not rest until he sees that NMR plushie come to fruition someday...

Also, Troblems' plushies are insanely good plushies ._. (because I'm not exactly experienced in THAT field so I can't say "best" xD)

  • 2 weeks later...

Just finished another Pixel, who will be on the Poniverse BABSCon table.

Worked on her for about 10 hours today so she would be ready in time. And now it's time for bed.

@@Love,

Holy crap that's awesome! Have you done a luna one yet?

Nope. I have the fabric for her, but I've been waffling on what color to make her, since there isn't a minky that matches her very well.

Rarity is as done as I can make her. Hubs needs to do some wiring, but for my end, she's done. I'm working on a non-pony plush for myself, and it won't take long. I have fabric for Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, but don't have enough to make both. My first Pinkie Pie was a good attempt, but I can find nothing but flaws with her because that's what artists do. I have enough fabric for one, but probably not for both. SO!

Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy next? Vote plz. Thnx.

Vote decided. It's Fluttershy, because I realized I don't have the right colors for Pinkie Pie, and I don't want to do fleece hair again. The place I order cloth from ships quickly, but my post office is horribad and they tend to lose packages, only to have them turn up months later.

Anyways, I'm sewing Rarity's tail right now and then she's done.

@@MJDudeK, I started with someone else's pattern. I've got my own now because I saw what worked and what didn't with other people's patterns.

I was always perplexed by how one would close a plush. I know now, but that was always a head scratcher for me.

Anyways, I sent the pictures of the Rarity plush I finished. She ships Monday once I fix the bottom of her tail. I will get better pictures, but these ones will work for now.

Excuse all the crap. My house looks like all of my closets threw up onto the floor.

That's so Awesome! and no worries my apartment is a mess as well (mostly figurines and collectibles lol). I own 2 plushies, Dash and Pinkie, but I have always wanted to make my own customs, I just never had inquired how to go about creating them. Do you get the fabric online? (pardon my ignorance, if I don't know where to get something, I usually assume to get it online.) oh and what about the stuffing? btw Your Rarity looks incredible! I love how you designed her mane, I feel it much preferable over the fake hair manes.

Oh and also about the eyes, are they patches?

@@MJDudeK, D'aww thanks

I usually get my fabric from Amazon. They tend to be cheapest, but they don't have the largest selection. That would be fabric.com or etsy but etsy can be hit or miss.

Stuffing I use regular polyfill, whatever is cheap/on sale. For pieces that shouldn't be stuffed but should stand on their own (wings, ears, etc) I use quilt batting.

Rarity's mane was...interesting. There's basically about 5 yards of one long piece of thread following each curve, sewing the hair to the cheek so it would stand correctly, which I the picture doesn't show because it wasn't standing correctly.

She's spent a long time in the process, sadly I started back in April and ended up scrapping the entire thing. I might still make the one from before and keep it for myself as the clearly inferior version.

I'm still not 100% happy with her, but I don't know that I ever actually could be fully satisfied.  :okiedokielokie:

@@CrystalNight, Thanks so much ^_^

Same deal as before, only this time filly Twilight, sprawled legs, because it was just so much cuter that way.

  • Body is minky
  • Hair is minky except for the pink stripe, which is fleece.
  • No wire this time, she holds her shape pretty well due to the small size.
  • Polyester fill
  • Cotton thread
That is my hand, used to for scale.

Sewing machine is a Brother cs6000i

Embroidery on the eyes are directly on the fabric adapted directly from her eyes from the show on an SE400.

I did most of it hand sewn because for her size.

Turned out pretty good, but I cheated a bit, sewing the horn directly onto the hair, rather than cutting a hole. Sewing a perfectly round hole would be a pain in the proverbial ass.

This is so cute! Wish I was deft with a needle and thread!

She done. No really, I mean it this time. For srs.

I spent all day yesterday trying to get her tail right to no avail, and my husband was able to do it in about 10 minutes. I'd be mad if I wasn't so excited that she was finished.

@@Love,

She looks fantastic! Her tail turned out really well, it's a super hard design to get right.

Your embroidery is super clean, as well! Having a plushie finally done is always a great feeling.  ;)

@@Nervous Stitch, Thanks! I actually have a completely new head design, first pattern I've made myself, which I'm super excited about. Working on the pattern for my next plush, which will be Fluttershy, because that's the minky colors I currently have that aren't white.

I'm sitting here staring at the photos, my mind going back to when I first mentioned it in passing on Skype, and knowing the challenges you faced since that time. I've rarely witnessed the sort of dedication in an artist that I have in you (and your husband).

I have to say, she looks phenomenal! Not only will this be my first Pony plush (which is a moment in and of itself) ... but it is one made by you. Troblems, you have been a great friend and colleague. What this represents for me is something I can't quite find the appropriate string of words to represent. Saying I'll treasure forever seems to hollow.

I live and die by basking in moments. Memories and connections. This Rarity, your Rarity, is one of those. She represents a friendship formed through one of my favorite places, completed by one of my favorite people ... who worked her ass off to complete it. And she looks adorable! <3

Soooo freaking excited.

OK, I crossed the sappy line a mile back so let me end with this thought. When I open the box and hold her up I will hear the famous Zelda sound effect in my head. Just saying.
