When the unicorn bumber into the wing of the pregasus, most of the sailors on deck fell silent and looked in awe, even some of the soldiers widened their eyes as they have never seen a pegasus before, only heard about them in history books. The admiral was also surprised but tried to hide it. The vrew was mainly made of earth ponies with unicorns in most of the high-ranking positions.

 

"I am Admiral Seahoof, captain of the SMS Hullbreaker and admiral of the Third flottila of the IMperial Navy. I am sorry to inform you but you have trespassed our national water, therefore we will ahve to escort you to the capital. You will not be treated as prisioners but you are obliged to remain on the upper deck. Once there you can speak to a parlimentary figure in our goverment" the admirl states.

 

"I trust you will comply or we will be forced to send you to the brig."

The pegasi crew were confused seeing unicorns in charge and what they knew as bare-backs wielding weaponry 

 

"Yes we will comply" he knew he had no choice or chance against unfamiliar weaponry, he also knew that all of their weapons were mostly useless being solid gold swords with gems in them, their armor was also just for show as well, he turned to the rest of the crew on his ship "get everypony on deck" one pony opened a hatch and several other pegasi flew out and landed on the deck of the ship, all looking on at amazement

"Company! Search!" a unicorn officer ordered and 30 soldiers entered the boat while 10 were tasked to search the crew.

 

He later approached the admiral;

 

"Sir we found no weapons on them, sir!"

 

"Very well, i want two guards keeping an eye on every one of them!" 

 

"Sir...did you see their.." the officer flapped his hoofs.

 

"Yes seargent... im not blind. This will surely grab attention. Signal the frigate Pinnacle to race ahead and prepare an armed guard for our arrival in the capital."

 

"Yes sir!"

 

The Admiral approaches the foreign captain,

 

"So... this place... from where you are... is it far.. how is it?"

The crew was apprehensive, the 3 pegasi handlers shielded their unicorns with their wings

 

"Cidonia is south of here, we have been on the water for a 3 days" he replied, he knew not to ask any questions, it was clear this unicorn did not have a handler and was in charge and that the bare-backs had weapons, however the crew was not as calm about this whispering confusion to themselves

"South... interesting, we have never really gone south. Oh, and excuse my crew, we have never seen actual..." he pointed to the captains wings, "pegasi before..."

 

Some of the crew was confused a how the pegasi were treating the unicorns. Not only did they never see pegasi before ... but they seemed to own the unicorns.

 

As the ship continued to sai, you could see a tall column of black smoke on the horizon,

"I see...but I understand, my crew is not used to seeing unicorns in...positions of authority" he excluded the part about bare-backs having weapons, figuring he didnt wish to aggravate them and even then he spoke a little hesitantly, hoping he would not offend the one in charge 

 

As one of the Ponssian soldiers got close to one of the unicorns, he huddled close to his handler, she put his wing over him "hey its going to be ok" she looked at the solider "please excuse him, he is not a battle unicorn and this whole ordeal is a little frightening to him"

"I see..." the admiral said intrigued, " Oh we will arrive shortly." he said while pointing to a now giant column of smoke coming from the land.

 

"Well, all i have to do is make sure he doesnt carry any weapons" the confused soldier said, 'Whyy do these unicorns behave like this' he thought to himself as he approached the scared unicorn.

 

"Now, just stay still."

Several large, heavily manned and armored vessels have just left Medeis and are headed to some nearby unclaimed islands. (Eternity's Crossing, on the map)

The captain looked at the smoke stack in the distance "I-Is the city on fire?"

 

The pegasi held her unicorn closer "I can assure you he is unarmed, he is not trained in combat in any sort of way and cannot fight"

The admiral laughed, as they got close a massive, tightly packed city could be seen and on one side massive chimneys spat black smoke into the atmosphere.

 

"No, thats the industrial sector"

 

As they approached the fortified port could be seen, filld with cannons and flyinf the Ponssian flag.

 

"My orders are clear and im am sorry." The soldier pushes the pegasi aside in order to check the unicorn.

A standard trireme approached the vessel, pegasi took off and flew around it, the captain flew above and announced "You have reached the kingdom of Cidonia, where do you hail from?" 

Several unicorns and earth ponies scrambled on deck at hearing the noise, and then broke out into big grins upon seeing the pegasi flying around the ship.

 

"Greetings and salutations! We are ambassadors from Medeis, and we have come to your lands to establish diplomatic relations and to deliver a message!" The unicorn captain shouted up to the circling pegasi.

Abendstern's Coast

 

The Admiral proudly looked out at his fleet of about forty of the Kingdom's biggest and best warships. His mission: open trade with them by force need be. The Kingdom needed southern goods and wouldn't take no for an answer. 

 

They sailed into Abendstern's waters showing no sign of letting up and made a course to the nearest port t begin negotiations.

 

Somewhere in Konyushnia

 

I stood in the snow looking out into the blizzard.

"Any luck finding where we are, Major!?" I shouted.

 

"None, Mr Lightfeather!"

 

"We ready to move?"

 

"Yes we are!"

 

"How many?"

 

"Three wagon pullers and two privates! Their fire went out in the night!" Damn... If we keep it up like that we won't have enough men to go back.

The storm showed no sign of letting up after a few hours of travel.

"It think it's time to head back, Major"

"A little more, Mr Lighteather, then we'll head back"

 

"Sir!" Shouted a scout in front of us. "I see light through the snow!"

 

"What? Then move!" A small town was nestled in the area and we'd stumbled into it. Civilization.

 

Crystal-Griffon Border

 

"Sir! We found this one in our camps trying to blow our gunpowder stores" Two soldiers dragged a Crystal Pony in chains behind them.

 

"Really now?" Asked the Commander.

 

"I didn't do anything!" Shouted the Pony. "They framed me! I was watching the border and they grabbed me!" The Officer cast a doubting eye.

 

"He's lying, ma'am! We found him, torch and all, in the supply area and his eyes were set on our gunpowder!"

 

"Hmm... Execute him. I will not tolerate sabotage and espionage in my camp" She showed no emotion ordering the death of another.

 

"Yes, ma'am"

 

"What?! No! No!" The pony cried being dragged away.

 "I see" replied the captain "our kingdom has been isolated for a long time so weve been left behind as far as technology goes"

 

The unicorn was wearing a gold lined harness, he cowered a bit, his handler was agitated that not only did a bare-back shove her, but he scared her servant "See? I told you hes completely unarmed and defenseless" she takes him back under her wing and walks away comforting the scared unicorn

The captain replied "nice to hear! follow us up river to the palace, you will be given an audience with the queen!" he flew back down to his own ship and headed into the port and up the river, several pegasi continued flying around the Medeis ship, the pegasi on the trireme talked confusion about the lack of pegasi on board the ship, the ponies on the trireme watched the other ship

"Just following orders!" the soldier moved on.

 

The ship was now in port. This was the largest millitary port in the kingdom. It had stone fortifications and even three artillery forts. The ship sailed in dock and the bridge was lowered to allow access to the ground. IT was filled with numerous other warships and tens of thousands of ponies worked trhere. Two regiments of soldiers numbering 360 each waited in perfect rectangular formation. 

 

"I believe thats your escort" the admiral pointed to the soldiers 

 

The trireme was craned down and but on a giant carridge and was pulled away. The soldiers on the ship were ordered to get the newcomers off.

 

"I will introduce you to the court." The admiral told the captain.

The captain addressed his soldiers "Ok ponies, remain calm and keep together, handlers, keep your unicorns close, they are already spooked as it is.  Remember we represent Cidonia, so keep it together" they formed a formation, with the handlers and their unicorns in the middle

Capital city, Perlin population little over 2.5 million.

 

The ponies were sepratated into carriges pulled by giant non-sentient pony-looking like creatures (wild horses), unicorns and pegasi separated without the permission of the newcomers themselves. The admiral got on the same carrige as the captain. he carrigs were in a line with a rectangle of soldiers on each side.

 

A officer on a horse yelled;

 

"Company, Right Face!"

 

All the soldiers turned right simultaneously.

 

"March!"

 

The carriges started moving and so did the soldiers. The streets were narrow and clean but filled with people. At the sight of the soldiers, all civilians got out of their way. Houses and buildings were cramped on both sides of the road. They ranges from small houses to massive luxiurious estates (Similar to victorian London). The soldiers payed no attention to anything else other than escorting the carrige as discipline was strict in Ponssia. The more they advanced towards the center of the twn the bigger and more luxurious the buildings got. They eventually stopped in front of a massive decorated marble palace, filled with fountains, statues and pictoresque gardens. Almost every road was guarded and the admiral got down .

 

"This is where we stop. The imperial palace!"

The captain looked up at the impressive palace, however he was very upset at how his soldiers were treated, as they carriages stopped the crew began talking to themselves, the captain spoke up "Are you going to release my crew? i noticed that the unicorns were separated from their handlers, they dont do well on their own, they arent combat trained and so this whole ordeal is very frightening to them"

"What do you mean by combat trained? No combat training is needed to ride a carriage," he turns to one of the carriages carrying unicorns, "we just respect the customs, unless tied via family, a unicorn will always travel separately from any other race. And i don't see why they cant handle themselves. I mean they are free ponies... Aren't they?"

 

He turns away from the carriage, servants in fancy aristocratic clothes open the door of the carriages allowing everybody out. The gates of the palace were now open and the soldiers advanced to form a line from the gardens gates to the entrance of the palace itself

 

The admiral asks the captain,

"Shall we?"

"Ill explain on the way" he followed the admiral to the palace "You see, in our kingdom, unicorns are servants, helping other ponies out with what ever they need, however they live with and are taken care of by a handler which treats them as family, handlers are very protective of their unicorn, and unless a unicorn is combat trained, they need a handler to take care of them" he explained as they walked, he admired the richness of the palace grounds

The admiral was shocked. Even some of the soldiers in the lines turned their head in amazement when hearing this, they immediately got shouted at by an officer and fell back in line.

 

"So... You mean if we just told them to go do what they want... They wouldn't be able to?"

 

The massive silver-plated doors of the palace opened to reveal a magnificent sight of painted walls, statues, armors, stained windows and crystal chandeliers. Servants, earth pony and unicorn alike (though mostly earth) moved all around the place. Some stopped to stare at the pegasi but then quickly carried on with their job.

 

"Im afraid your crew will have to stop here."

The captain nodded to his crew and they stayed behind, the handlers looking worried

 

"Yes" the captain continued, following the admiral "They would freak out with out the guidance of their handler, and handlers treat their unicorns as their own children, combat trained unicorns have more control over them selves and are more independent, but even still at the very least they live with and are provided by their handler" he said, looking around at the lavish palace

"Well... Ummm... You see... You might want to keep that to yourself around here... We, unicorns run pretty much everything. And pegasi havent been around for over 500 years. Not since the great Blood Ages that pretty much rid us of pegasi and magic alike."

 

He explained while climbing a marble spiral staircase.

"Ive noticed" he said climbing the stairs with him "wait, if there is no magic, how are there unicorns?" this puzzled him, the whole situation made him apprehensive, but he continued to keep his calm and follow the admiral to his leader, in the back of his mind he worried how the handlers and their unicorns were doing

"Well during the Blood Ages we went through a period of disasters, droughts, famines, dieases and wars. The people blamed the pegasi for not controling the weather and turned violent. The pegasi reacted and it turned into a war that ended with the execution of all pegasi. But the disasters continued... And so the Holy Church blamed magic... Magic hunts beguna and all unicorns had to abandon magic. Those who didnt were burned alive. It is said that in a terrible night 10,000 unicorns were burned at stake in a forest of flame. Since then, magic was forgotten. Yet we, due to our low numbers managed to seize many aristocratic positions that led us the the great nation we are now."

They approached a heavily guarded door.

 

Meanwhile downstairs a sercqnt wa carring a heavy platter filled with dishes, he tripped but managed to balance the platter between a wall and his hoofs. He turned to one of the newcomer unicorns;

 

"Hey you, leand me a hoof?"

The captain looked up at the door, even with all the gold and gems he was wearing he felt like he was appropriately dressed, something he didnt think would happen

 

A unicorn turned to his handler, who nodded at him, the unicorn then used his magic to grab all the dishes and stacked them neatly, he then sported a friendly smile, the handler walked up to her unicorn and patted his head
