The captain was taking mental notes he and his crew were indeed impressed by the military strength, he hoped that the other scout ships had found better nations, if this kind of power was out there, they would need powerful allies, he would also have to ask the queen about expanding the military

The carriages were driven back to the palace and everyone was invited for dinner in the royal guests room. A long silver table sat in the middle of a painted room with three crystal chandeliers hanging over it. The plates and forks, spoons and knives were all made out of silver while the glasses were made from gold-tinted glass. The table was filled with exotic and luxiourious foods tht only the royal family could afford. The table was absolutely packed with food and servants were ready to bring more at a moments notice. 

 

The king sat at the end of the table and asked;

 

"Well, how was the tour?"

The crew began eating, the captain replied "Your kingdom has incredible power, and your military is quite impressive, and your riches are nice, me and my crew did not expect to be appropriately dressed with our ceremonial armor" he started eating, "I assume we will be departing in the morning?"

"Indeed you are" the king said, happy about the captains answer. after dinner everybody was sent to the luxurious bedrooms provided. the next day, they were returned to the port.

 

Another unicorn approached the captain. he bows,

"Greeting, i am Heinz Steiner, foreign realtions agent. i want to apologize on behf of Ponssia for not bekjg met by a proper diplomat. we had a few issues that resulted in you being Accompanied by, "he looked at the warships. "A untrained millitary personnel. we further apologize if any of your customs were broken as millitary officers are not trained to handle diplomacy and are used to do everything according to routine"

 

He points fo some crates,

 

"these are offerings in apology to our personnels inaptidude in repecting customs. further we regret to imform you the the vessel you brought has been checked and has reported numerous problem that would risk its crews safety if sent at sea. therefore the goverment has replaced it with another."

 

He shows the captain a medium-sized unarmed sailing ship, painted in beautiful colours and bearing a golen eagle on the bow. about 30 soldiers were waiting on the ship

"The boat is also loaded with gifts for your monarch as a sign of our goodwill. These men and I hage been instructed to ensure your safety until uou reach your destination."

 

he puts on a plummed hat.

The captain gave a look of suspicion when he was told that their luxury brand new trireme was taken from them, the rest of the crew boarded the ship, some walked aboard, and others hovered around the ship, the captain himself walked onto the ship, "Who is the captain of this ship? i will need to help them get back to Cidonia"

"Dont worry about your ship."he assured the captain calmly. Being a experienced diplomat, he noticed the captains expression." We will send it over as soon as the hull has been fixed and polished"

 

The unicorn follwed him on the ship.

 

"I am, i have experience in civilian sailing as well. And do not about these soldiers, they are trained for recieving diplomatic guests and will respect your customs" he smile.

 

"Corporal Schultz, could we please set sail?" He asked with a polite tone.

 

"Definetly sir. Come one lads. We are moving" the corporal informed his crew.

 

None of the crew shouted or did rough movements as the one on the warship. They we calm, polite and gentle as they had to ensure theyre passengers satisfaction.

The crew were still slightly wary after what they had went through about half the crew decided to just hover around the ship for the time being, The captain approached the unicorn captain "when we get underway, i will guide you to were you need to go"

Aa the ship sailed south the wind got stronger, forcing the crew to pull the sails as they could rip. it also started raining pretty hard. One of the soldiers called at the floating pegasi.

 

"Please get down here! Storms in this area could easily blow you away! And we wont be able to fish you out in these waves!"

 

A lightning bolt struck the main mast, ripping the ropes that held the sails. The sail flew off, almost hitting the flying pegasi.

 

The diplomat yelled,

"Please get in the cabin!"

The pegasi immediately flew into the clouds and started bucking the clouds away, they kept a hole in the storm around the ship, a few other pegasi who were on deck flew up to help them

 

The captain called "this is their job, we will be fine, in the meantime, does this ship have any rows?, the pegasi up there have been making sure that we got good wind, but without a sail we arent going anywhere"

The diplomat captain was impressed by the cloud clearing.

 

"No, it has something better!"

 

10 soldiers pulles some ropes and a trapdoor opened, a metal furnace was revealed and a horn was lifted. Two of the ponies started throwing coal in the fire and black smoke soon started coming out of the horn as the ship gained speed.

 

"This ship is made for long cruise travels, even in harsh weather."

The captain looked at the broken mast and said under his breath "clearly..." he turned to the captain "So what do you call this device here?"

 

the pegasi above quickened their pace to the keep the hole in the storm directly above the ship, and sped up as the ship suddenly increased in speed

"That is a coal boiler engine. Coal release enough energy to cause turbine to spin"

 

The thick smoke started getting out on the hole in the clods made the pegasi thus making it very hard to breathe.

 

"Though you might want too call them down... This smoake is very toxic for the ones whos lungs are not used to the smoke. And we cannot guarantee theybwont catch se dangerous lumg tumours... Oh... Dangerous dieseases.

The captain took a step back from the words dangerous diseases he called for the pegasi "come down! steer clear of the thick black smoke!" the pegasi flew back down and entered the cabin "I guess we should head to the captains room" since the hole was not being maintained, the rain started pouring down again

"Yes! Get in there! We will take care of the ship!"

 

The storm was getting worse and waves were hitting the ship mercillessly. The Ponssian crew did their best to maintain the ship in position as the waves grew bigger. After a few hours of silence, the ship shook as it hit something. The storm was over and the ship hit land. The impact shattered the hull letting all the goods stored in it to fall on the beach. Yet there was no sign of the crew. They managed to follow the directions and get the ship to Cidonia as promised, yet none managed to stay alive during the storm as they got thrown overboard.

The pegasi crew exited the ship confused, they looked around and at the ship, several flew up to see if they could find the crew, they could not desern where they were other than somewhere in Cidonia 

 

"Sir, no sign of the crew" one of the crew relayed to the captain, he sighed confused, "Well this is odd, leave the ship here, one of the unicorns will track our steps so we can bring a team out here to see what we can salvage, lets just follow the coast until we get to the royal city" one of his men piped up "If those bare-backs just let us do our jobs this wouldnt have happened" another pegsi spoke in a joking tone "And thats why you dont put unicorns in charge!" all laughed

 At your peaceful response and River Tongue's translation to them the majority of the guards visibly relax; although the soldier(who you get the impression of being the commanding officer of the guards) remains annoyed.

 "While I am authorized to establish first contact and various minor details it would be best for one of the Councilor's to meet with your leader. How long would it take for the request to be processed and accepted?"

Outside the coast of Dominion, a highly decorated trireme, the golden eye on the black sail shines in the sunlight, the gold plated stylized eagle shaped ram also glistened in the sun, bright white and blue painted, and 2 large eyes painted on each side, there were a few pegasi flying around the ship, the unicorns aboard helped drop anchor as they saw buildings on the land, the captain started talking to his crew

The ten members of the patrol headed over to where the scout indicated the intruders were. They all had their weapons drawn, two with muskets aimed. None of them knew what was going on, all they knew was there was a possible invasion on their soil. The unicorn messenger had sent a note back to headquarters and called for reinforcements. 

 

A lone Earth Pony captain went forward to meet the outer ring. "Who are you ponies and state your business. You are trespassing on the land of the great nation, Sovneigh Union!"

Defiant Shadow had his preparations set. He had his ship of the line escorted by two sloops of war to meet with this supposed Blackfire. He had all precautions set in case something went out of hand. He had ships at regular intervals to maintain communication with the motherland. Also had several frigates and sloops of war on standby just in case of combat. For the actual meetings, he had ponies go for him, though he couldn't trust a diplomat to keep his interests in mind. He had a stupid unicorn to be his under his direct control where he could control him from one of the sloops. Nopony knew his appearance so they should just take him without issues.

 

The trio of ships approached the fleet with the unicorn in the ship of the line which was up front.

The diplomatic ship was greeted by an unicorn and his bodyguards. "You are on a diplomatic mission yes? I am the manager of this port. Do you wish to see the great leader?"

By the time the SU scouts got there most of the fort was already built. The soldiers on the palisades aimed their muskets at the foreigners. The sergent rushed to inform the captain.

 

"Sir we've got potential hostiles at our gate!"

 

The captain sighs 'there goes my promotion'

 

"Very well open the gates."

 

Six soldiers push the gates open while the captain appears on a horse(yes...horse... non-sentient =p).

 

"We are subjects of the Kingdom of Ponssia and have had to land here, he turns to the now dissassembled ship, large planks from it were used for the construcion of the fort, "and as this land seemed unimproved and unclaimed, we decided its a perfect spot for a port and potential food resources."

As the patrol approached the gate, the musket ponies were aiming at the guards. As the gates opened, the Earth Pony signaled to hold fire and wait. The musket ponies complied and held their weapons at the ready. The pegasi scouts stayed in the air to make sure if anything goes wrong, they will be able to fight after the first salvo.

 

"It does seem for you ponies are shipwrecked here. Though I do implore you to stop building here. This is sovereign territory of the Sovneigh Union and I'm sure your homeland wouldn't be too happy if we starting building forts on your there. We can definitely help you get back home if you need the assistance," the captain said to the his counterpart.

 

The unicorn messenger meanwhile received a message from headquarters stating they have sent in the QRF (Quick Reactionary Force) to supplement their numbers and assist if need be. The pegasi are due to arrive within 10 minutes.

"Well... considering you dont seem to ne using this land at all, maybe we could purchase it from your goverment, after all we worked hard to built this fort and we dont want to tear it down.... and you wouldn't be able to build forts there even if you wanted, every patch of land is used" the captain commented

 

In the meantime more and more armed ponies climbed on the wall and behind the gates, they were not aiming at the foreigners but were ready to take action.

@@WindyParadise, "It shouldn't take more than a day or two depending on how our situation with the Griffons. We're not sure of what their intentions are yet but if they turn out to be hostile it might take longer, or we might have to come to you instead. A lot is is weighing on what happens in our meeting with them." He turns and smiles at who he assumes is the commanding officer of the guards. "Is there something the matter sir?" He asks.

"I know for sure the Great Leader will not allow such a purchase. We have not built anything here since we have a lot of land to spare. I'm sure sooner or later, we will have authorization to build here. Speaking of not tearing it down, why would you want to keep such a small fort in action? It seems....a little small."

 

The pegasi were within visual range and  headed towards the small patrol to beef it up a little.

"I am sure we are able to give him an offer he cannot refuse.... especially in this time of crisis." he captain looked around at the palisades, 'Oh but this is just the beggining, every successful port has to start small and would grow in wealth and size in time."

 

The soldiers on the palisade spotted the pegasi, those who were not aiming at the ground ponies lifted their weapons towards the sky and awaited further orders.

 

"Actually...If it would be possible, i would like to meet your leader, in order to discuss diplomatic aspects." the captain continued. His initial mission was to set up contact with neighbouring nations and this one in particular seemed to have something that Ponssia lacked... land... and more precisely what you can use that land for, which is growing food.

"An offer that he can't refuse? Are you threatening us? If you are, I'm sure your small crew won't last forever against our forces.The ponies behind me are just a tiny morsel of our military if you wish to provoke us," the captain replied to that remark.

 

"I would prefer if we could do this diplomatically. I find losing ponies for no real reason is very unfavorable to me personally. Though I will send a message to our Great Leader to notify him of our predicament. Messenger sent word to him now."

 

As the captain was finishing up, the pegasi QRF arrived and surrounded half of the pitiful fort and had their weapons drawn, half of them muskets. The pegasus in charge landed next to the Earth Pony captain. "Sir, we received word of intruders and we are you to assist."

 

"Tell your ponies to hold their fire and stand their ground. I would prefer war to be our last option."
