What did you think of characters before you were a brony?

When I thought of ponies I mostly thought of the G1 toyline that my pony crazy cousin had almost everyone of you could possibly think of so finding out that there was a reboot didn't surprise me but its newfound audience was a surprise to me. Back when my friend was trying to get me to watch the show he showed me a bunch of artwork and it was quite good one of the first ones he showed me was this comic where Celestia tells Cadence and Shining Armor to spread love throughout Equestria and Shining Armor gives a wicked smile after his mind just went into the gutter. I didn't think much of either of them my thoughts were typical princess+cute boy "prince" and my initial assumption of them was partially correct. It was actually Discord that got me really curious and ultimately convinced me to watch. I loved Discords design and was actually impressed with the skill shown in a lot of the artwork I was shown.

Well, I had originally thought that:

 

1. Trixie was a main character, judging by all the fanart of her at the time

2. Twilight Sparkle was a spoiled rich kid that no one liked

3. Rainbow Dash was THE main character

 

Keep in mind that I joined the fandom at around the early to midpoint of season 1.

Before I was a brony, I always thought my little pony was now a sexual show since people always portrayed bronies as grown men attracted to the ponies of the show. I didn't care much and I always just let the bronies be since they never bothered me in any way.

One day, I found out bronies only simply liked the show as it was said to be really good. Well...i gotta get ready to go eat so I'll cut this short.

I didn't have a clue about any of the ponies before I sat down to watch the show. I just saw the show as another tv show geared toward girls to sell toys. I'd see posters and other things in stores but I didn't pay too much attention until I kept hearing about how big the fandom was for the show.

The only time I saw ponies before watching the show was an avatar on a web comic forum of Pinkie Pie's hiccup-laughter scene.

I don't remember specific characters in particular the characters to me then were 'the blue one' and 'the pink one', but seeing so much of it I just assumed it was one of those crude parody videos on Youtube, or like a South Park-esque reboot.

To my surprise though I found it was a genuine remake of the old My little pony toys. I still gave it a try though, and now here I am.

Cute ponies, litle girls show, sells toys, nothing I am interested in, but I can see why a little girl might like it... then I probably went to dscovery to watch "how it's made" for the umpteenth time.

I saw G3 commercials and thought they were girly when I was really young. Then in early 2011-12 ish I saw Fluttershy yay on YouTube and thought she was cute. Then some of my friends saw the show and discussed it and characters. Also saw it online and thought pinkie pie was the annoying pony. Only knew pinkie and Fluttershy and then eventually I watched the show and realized the yay and realized what the other Fluttershy memes were and then loved the show

Ok, so my first experience with the show was when I was watching the Two Best Friends play a game and Matt started arguing with Pat. Matt closed out of the computer game and Pat's wallpaper was of My Little Pony. ( I'm chuckling as I write this)

Me being curious thought, "Why would the supposed meanest guy of the bunch watch a show with such cutesy characters?"

And then I started watching it.

I didn't have any opinions of the show. I had never actually heard of the mlp franchise before that.

I dove right into the show and almost immediately found it quirky and enjoyable.

I thought the characters were pretty cute, Pinkie and Flutter mostly.

 

I already figured Twilight was kinda main character of the whole since i knew alittle (very little mind you) about it. Rainbow Dash seemed kinda cool too, though i was sort

of confused weather she was a male or female character at first aha. Since i didn't really know the characters too well.

 

I didn't have any strong opinions toward Rarity and Applejack though, guess i kind of overlooked them, didn't start liking these characters till after i got into the fandom and Series.
