You can ask the mods to delete/hide a thread you no longer desire, yes. However, you probably need a good reason as of why you want it deleted/hidden, otherwise they'll decline your request.

If, however, you mean 'hide' a topic so that you personally don't have to look at it but it's still visible to everyone else, I don't think that's currently possible with IP.Board (the software the forum runs on).

Unfortunately, that is not a feature supported by IPB. However you are more than welcome to request the feature in the Feedback and Suggestions Forum. Perhaps it is worth researching.
